Chapter 982 - 667: Loulanel Village [03] I Used a Signal Jammer
Chapter 982 - 667: Loulanel Village [03] I Used a Signal Jammer
Nora Scott put away her phone, intending to head out and catch up with that person.
However, she had just taken two steps when she heard a noise at the window. Turning back, she saw the window being pushed open and a slender figure leaping out. In the dim moonlight, Nora fixed her gaze and, sure enough, it was April Thomason.
"Why are you awake?" Nora asked in surprise.
"Were you scratching the wall?" April rubbed her ear as she walked over, "I was woken up by the noise."
Nora: "..."
She didn’t wake up when they were fighting, but now she wakes up because of some scratching. This woman is something else.
"Did someone just walk by?" April raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Yeah."
Nora nodded calmly.
April asked again, "Are you going?"
Nora turned the question around, "Are you going?"
"Absolutely."
"Oh," Nora nodded slightly, then coolly said, "Then you go ahead."
April: "..."
Nora handed a tracking device and an earpiece to April, instructing, "Stay in touch."
"..."
After a three-second silence, April seemed to see the words "Skinner Scott" floating above Nora, but accepted the device and earpiece, waved her hand, and left.
After all, she was just here to assist.
This time, Nora wasn’t impulsive. Watching April leave, she turned and went back inside.
She didn’t bother calling Pedro Langley again.
—After all, nothing has been confirmed yet, and without any convenience stores around, she’d better wait until returning to discuss further. Besides, once there’s a concrete answer, it might actually tie her hands.
Nora returned to the room.
She opened a box, selecting several pieces of equipment from inside.
These were all prepared by Pedro Langley, everything for eavesdropping, tracking, and surveillance... all miniaturized, on the cutting edge of technology. These items were simple to operate and easy to carry.
Equipment that made Nora gnash her teeth, yet Pedro prepared several sets of each.
But this time, Nora found that they were surprisingly pleasing to the eye.
Finally, Nora took out a drone and placed everything on the table.
Putting on the earpiece, Nora adjusted the equipment and softly asked, "Can you hear me?"
"Yes."
During the operation, April adhered to her usual military habits, keeping her words concise.
"What’s the situation?" Nora asked.
"Annabelle Pinto," April’s voice was low and crackling, "She’s contacting a local, using a dialect I can’t understand."
"..."
Nora regretted not going along.
However, there’s no medicine for regret. She thought for a moment and merely cautioned, "Annabelle is quite skilled, keep safe."
"Okay."
April hadn’t yet seen Annabelle’s skills, so she didn’t argue with Nora’s words.
Outside, the moonlight was like water; inside, the lighting was dim.
Nora sat on a stool, resting her chin in one hand, fiddling with the small gadgets while closely monitoring April’s situation.
"They’ve separated, the local gave Annabelle a sheet of paper." After a long pause, April asked, "Who should I follow?"
After a quick thought, Nora promptly gave her decision: "The local."
"Alright."
"Confirm the location then withdraw."
"Roger that."
...
In the middle of the night, April returned.
As soon as she entered, she began swearing, "Damn it, what a stupid Maze Village, I almost couldn’t make it back."
Looking up at her, Nora stood up and handed her a bottle of water, "Your sense of direction is impressive."
Nora had watched April’s every move via GPS, even mapping out her route. Originally, she could have remotely guided April back. However, the local’s house was too far, the route was lengthy, and there was a period when the signal wasn’t good. By the time it reconnected, April was already lost.
Nora had no map of the village’s terrain, only a route of April’s movements, so she couldn’t help at all, only able to guide April once she reached the marked pathway.
She anticipated wasting a lot of time, but unexpectedly, April’s sense of direction was not bad and, by memory, she got back on track in no time.
"Absolutely."
April drank some water, readily accepting the compliment, not finding Nora insincere at all.
—As it was indeed the truth.
"Shall we discuss now?" April asked.
Thinking it best to err on the side of caution, Nora said, "Let’s rest first."
"Alright," April nodded, "I’ll show you the way tomorrow."
Saying this, she headed to the bed.
Nora raised her hand to grab her.
April turned back, puzzled.
"April."
Nora earnestly called her.
"What?" April was baffled.
Nora: "Do you want to practice the skill of sleeping on a bench?"
April: "..."
*
Realizing her habit of hitting others in her sleep had surfaced, April had no choice but to relinquish the bed to Nora. Ultimately, she constructed a makeshift bed using two long benches and a plank, begrudgingly settling into a sleeping bag on the benches.
April felt that Nora was being unfair.
However, considering Nora’s good looks, April decided to forgive her.
...
The next day.
At the crack of dawn, April was awakened by the noise outside.
The air was cold, with the window probably letting in drafts, allowing the chilly morning breeze to seep into the room.
The gentle wind carried with it the sounds of bustling activity.
Finding it uncomfortable on the long benches, coupled with her habit of sleeping only a few hours and still being full of energy, April immediately emerged from her sleeping bag upon hearing the commotion. In three minutes, she tidied up her sleeping bag and benches, then leisurely strolled outside.
Soon after, she was back.
By that time, Nora was also up.
Seeing April’s silhouette in the dim light, Nora casually tied up her loose hair while raising an eyebrow to ask, "What’s all the noise outside?"
"Seems like the village lost its signal," April yawned, "They’re trying to find it."
Nora responded blandly, "Oh."
April scrutinized her, "You don’t look surprised at all?"
"I used a signal jammer."
