The Lost Alpha Queen: Heaven and Hell Bound

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Katrina’s POV

"I plan to treat you like my little whore."

Adolphus’s words rang in my ears like a curse.

Anger burned through me, scorching hot and unrelenting. Who the hell did he think he was? I had spent a whole year dealing with his arrogance, his cold indifference, his constant belittling, and now this?

I stormed away from the riverside, my fists clenched so tightly my nails dug into my palms.

He was insufferable. A cocky, heartless bastard.

Yet, I hated that his words still lingered, crawling under my skin like an itch I couldn’t scratch.

I shook my head, furious with myself.

This was why I needed to shift. If I had my wolf, if I could finally prove myself, no one would dare talk to me like that. Not the Alpha, not Adolphus, and certainly not the other warriors who looked at me like I was weak.

Lost in thought, I barely noticed when I entered the Pack’s training grounds, until I slammed into something solid.

No, not something. Someone.

"Well, well, look who it is," a familiar, mocking voice drawled.

I stumbled back, my head snapping up to meet a pair of smug, dark eyes. Nicholas.

Great. Just what I needed.

Nicholas was one of the warriors I despised the most. Arrogant, cruel, and always surrounded by his two shadows, Steve and Tony.

They were grinning, their expressions filled with amusement.

"Not watching where you’re going, Katrina?" Nicholas sneered.

"Get out of my way," I snapped, trying to sidestep him, but he blocked me.

Steve let out a low whistle. "Feisty today, aren’t we?"

"She’s always feisty," Tony added with a smirk. "Especially when she knows she can’t win."

I glared at all three of them. "Move. Now."

Nicholas chuckled, crossing his arms. "Or what? You’ll fight us?"

"If I have to."

The amusement in his eyes darkened. "You’re getting awfully brave for someone who’s about to be demoted."

My stomach twisted. Of course, they had heard. News spread fast in the Pack.

Nicholas smirked. "Can’t wait for you to become an Omega, Katrina. You know why?"

I already knew I didn’t want to hear the answer, but I held my ground.

"Because," he continued, leaning in slightly, "then I can finally make you my whore."

Rage erupted inside me.

Before I could stop myself, my palm connected with his face in a sharp slap. The sound echoed through the training ground.

For a second, there was silence.

Then Nicholas’s head snapped back, his eyes burning with fury.

"You little—"

Before I could react, he grabbed me, slamming me against the nearest wall.

Pain shot through my back as his fingers tightened around my arms.

I struggled, but he was stronger.

"Let me go," I hissed.

Nicholas smirked. "Not so tough now, are you?"

Steve and Tony laughed in the background, watching like it was all some big joke.

I bared my teeth. "When I shift, I’ll rip you apart."

"Too bad you’ll never shift," he mocked. "Face it, Katrina. You’re just a weak little girl playing warrior."

I saw red.

I kicked out, but Nicholas was ready. He pinned me harder against the wall, his face inches from mine.

"You should really learn your place," he murmured, his grip tightening. "And soon, you will."

"That’s enough." A cold, sharp and commanding voice resounded, making Nicholas freeze.

I turned my head slightly, my breath hitching when I saw who it was. Adolphus.

He stood a few feet away, his expression unreadable, but his eyes were dangerous.

"Let. Her. Go," Adolphus repeated, his voice low and lethal.

Nicholas scoffed but didn’t release me. "Mind your business, Adolphus. This has nothing to do with you."

Adolphus didn’t reply but moved closer, so fast, I didn't expect it. Before Nicholas could react, Adolphus’s fist slammed into his stomach.

Nicholas let out a pained grunt, his grip on me loosening just enough for me to pull free.

Then, in one swift motion, Adolphus grabbed him by the collar and punched him across the face.

Nicholas hit the ground hard, groaning. Steve and Tony stiffened, glancing at each other in hesitation.

"Want to try me next?" Adolphus asked, his voice like ice.

Neither of them moved.

Adolphus turned his attention back to Nicholas, who was still on the ground, coughing. "Touch her again," he said, his tone disturbingly calm, "and I’ll break every bone in your body."

The threat was real. Nicholas knew it.

So did Steve and Tony, who quickly helped their fallen friend up before dragging him away.

Silence filled the air. My heart was still pounding, my body tense. Then I felt Adolphus’s hand reaching for mine.

I flinched.

His touch was warm, strong and safe. But I didn’t want his help. Not after what he had said to me by the river.

I yanked my hand free and turned on my heel, storming off toward my room without looking back.
