Angel’s POV

“You have five seconds to give me a name, or I will pick one at random” he said menacingly.

My heart was beating at a crazy rhythm, my head was pounding with overtaking fear and preventing me from figuring out a way to shift his attention to me before the others.

“Do whatever you want to me, Kyle. Take it all out on me and let them go. You want revenge? Take it from me and release them” Diana said intensely.

Kyle tsked and said excitedly “I’m afraid it’s not negotiable. Each one of you is going to die in their own special, painful way. I’ve got the whole thing planned out already and I’m not going to ruin it so you could play the hero”

He turned to me and said with a sick smile “Your time is up little sis. Guess I’ll have to start with the one I’m already dying to play with”

He moved towards April and stood in front of her, causing my heart to sink.

“You’re a delicious thing. I wonder how good you taste” he said with a playful smile.

April paled and shook in her place but remained silent, trying to act brave.

“Don’t you dare touch her Kyle. She has nothing to do with this” Diana said tearfully.

My eyes shifted to Jenny, sweat was gathering at the sides of her forehead despite the harsh cold atmosphere, her glasses were sliding down her nose, her breathing was labored like she was struggling for a breath and she appeared to be pretty much out of it, like she’s dizzy. If I concentrated hard enough, I could hear the low vibration coming from her watch, an alarm for sure. She was hyperglycemic and already symptomatic.

It was looking bad for everyone and I had no clue what to do to turn things around.

We were done for.

There was no way our men could ever find us in time.

We were totally screwed.

But I will do just about anything to prevent that monster from laying a hand on April. Or any of them, before he’s done with me first.

Just before he was about to raise his hands to release April from her cuffs, I spoke in a provocative tone “Don’t you want to know why I sided with the Snows and enjoyed how they carved up your father and burned him to death, Kyle?”

He turned to me with wild eyes, his hands lowering by his sides.

“You speak of him as if he’s not your father too” he hissed at me while coming back to stand in front of me, April forgotten for the moment, which was exactly my aim. Just have to find the right words to get him started with me.

“Because he’s not. Never was and never will be now that he’s thankfully dead. That asshole father of yours killed my mom in front of me. He killed the only family I had for the past eighteen years. Now you tell me, since you know a thing or two about taking revenge for family, didn’t he get exactly what was coming to him?” I said coldly.

“That whore you call a mother was better off dead after she stole you from him and ran away. But who am I talking to? like mother like daughter, she raised you to be just like her. She raised you to hate him, to loathe his power, and turned you against him and you didn’t disappoint at all. He was a great man and a greater father than you’ll ever know. He fucking sacrificed his life to save you, you bitch! And how did you fucking repay that sacrifice?” he screamed at me in rage.

Here we go…

“By enjoying every ounce of pain and every scream of agony they wrenched out of him. You might be angry with me, Kyle but I know for a fact that you can’t really kill me or torture me because I’m still your own flesh and blood. I’m still your sister. Your father made you vow to protect me and something tells me you’re not capable of breaking that promise, of doing to me what was done to him. I can see it in your eyes. You’re nothing like him. You’d rather waste your time on hurting someone else because you can’t make yourself or any of your men lay a hand on me” I said confidently.

He shook his head slowly, a sadistic smile playing on his lips, and I went as far as I can to ensure the desired result I was hoping for to be more and more guaranteed and not turn into something else in the opposite direction.

“I’ll even throw you one better, you’re nothing but a fool. Let me help you make sense of something. The real reason Zade never went public about having a son was not to protect you or keep you safe. He just never saw you as his. Probably has something to do with how you turned to be nothing like he wanted. Even me, who just saw you for the first time can tell you’re not a true leader material. Why do you think he went above and beyond to rescue me? Because he wanted someone else to take the lead from him, someone other than you. If he was still alive, I will bet you anything, he would have lived to be a hundred years old and he still wouldn’t have admitted to having a son. But let’s pretend that I’m wrong here and that he truly didn’t want anyone to know in order to keep you safe and protected from his enemies, that’s even worse. Because apparently Zade didn’t think you are capable of protecting or defending yourself against anyone. That you are too week to strike fear in the hearts of his enemies enough to not let a single person even think about crossing you. Either way, you’re a pathetic excuse for a son who’s better off following someone else’s orders. Just like you were trained to be ever since you could remember. I’ll bet even these men you’ve got gathered around you are not one hundred percent loyal to you. I’ll bet even that they have been thinking the exact same thing I just told you about. You guys should find someone more fitting than this coward leader because he will never be a Zade, and he will never….”

I groaned out in pain when his fist landed brutally on the side of my mouth. Splitting the side of my lip instantly and causing blood to drip down my chin.

I’m surprised he even let me get this far without shutting me up.

Diana screamed my name but it was too low for me to hear as the blows kept coming my way. He landed a harsh slap to the other side of my face and caused my right ear to ring loudly inside my head, followed by a vicious kick to the right side of my ribs causing a loud crack to erupt. He definitely broke one of my ribs; maybe even two, as the pain momentarily blinded me and I could no longer contain my screams as they came out of me loud and fierce.

I whimpered as his hand gripped my hair harshly from behind and tipped my head back forcefully, making my neck joints snap painfully as he snarled near my uninjured ear “You wanna say that again to me? What was it you said…I won’t be able to lay a hand on you? Oh Angelina, you don’t have the slightest clue who you’re dealing with, I pity you”

I said through gritted teeth “I said you’re a coward and I stand corrected. Only a coward hits a girl when she’s all tied up for him. Too afraid I might kick your ass in front of your men if you let me fight fair and square? I get it. I would be scared of getting my ass handed to me by a girl too if I were you”

Yeah, I was definitely luring him to a fight.

Even though I was positive that I was no match for him in my current condition. But I had to finish what I started. I have to let him finish me off first before hurting the others.

Maybe if I buy more time, a miracle would happen and Lucas, Alex, and David would find them and save them in time…. As for me, well, the odds weren’t exactly in my favor.
