On The Border - Marry Him Or Die

Lucas’s POV

I let her lie pass smoothly and carried on seriously “Ok Hope, tell me, are you kidnapped or are you here on your own free will?”

I saw clearly how torn she was about her answer.

It was obvious that they either warned her about me or threatened her before getting out of the car, because even a blind man can clearly tell she was forced into being in this car.

“I’m not kidnapped” she said in a strained voice.

I smirked as I asked amusingly “So they are telling the truth, that you’re a prostitute?”

She looked about two seconds away from head butting me but barely controlled herself as she glared at me venomously.

“I’m a woman, being taken to someone, out of my own free will” she emphasized tightly.

It felt so amazing, watching my words get under her skin and piss her off that much, I don’t know why, but I was enjoying her reactions way too damn much for my own good.

I nodded my head repeatedly then shocked her to her core as I asked smugly “Why were you strangling the man that was in the passenger seat to death with your chain, ten minutes ago, if you were here willingly then?”

I saw the color start draining from her face as her eyes widened in shock.

I had witnessed the whole thing with my own eyes through the binoculars while I was waiting for them to come to me.

Even though I couldn’t see her actually strangling him because the back windows were tainted in black, but the front side windows however were not, which supplied for a very interesting scene to take place before my eyes.

I wasn’t sure then if it was her or someone else who was also in the backseat. All I saw was the passenger guy kicking and fighting like hell to breath while she was choking the life right out of him. If it wasn’t for the driver coming to his rescue, he would be dead.

After I saw that she was the only one who was occupying the backseat, I was left with a lot of awe and admiration at her survival skills. She has feisty fire in her, this one. She’s a fighter, you can tell just from looking into her eyes. And there is nothing I like more than a girl who fights back and doesn’t cower down in fear in the corner or give up instantly.

The bruise on the corner of her lips must have been caused by the driver. He probably hit her there to get her to loosen her grip on the chain which would also explain why her wrists are in such a bad condition.

They’ll both get what they deserve for what they’ve done to her.

Despite her being the key to ending Zade, even though her identity and her relation to him is still unknown, and regardless of the fact that she might turn out to be very evil and I might end up saving and avenging a serial killer; even though she looked to be the furthest thing from that but I learned never to trust appearances so blindly, I still want to make her captors pay for hurting her.

Why you ask?

I have no fucking idea.

Angelina’s POV

“You saw that?” I asked out of pure shock.

Now, I’m so caught.

How the hell can I justify that!

He smirked at me for a while.

Oh how I would love nothing but to wipe that annoying smirk off his face.

I don’t just want to wipe that smirk off, I want to knee him in the groin because he was such a bastard!

From the moment he approached me while I was in the car, I knew I was going to be in so much trouble with him.

He was dangerous and anyone can see that from a mile away, not just me.

But the bastard was pressing on my nerves so damn much.

Especially when that asshole told him I was a prostitute.

A virgin fucking prostitute for god’s sake!

How I managed to keep my mouth shut then was a miracle on its own.

Like that wasn’t enough, the bastard Lucas was enjoying this way too damn much, and it was beginning to make me start losing my grip on my self control.

“Well, I got bored waiting for you guys to show up, so I decided to spy on you a little. And thank God I did, because I witnessed something very interesting about someone who is claiming to be brought here willingly” he said wittily.

I pursed my lips and thought real well about my words before they left my mouth “It was a slight misunderstanding between us that’s all”

His smirk deepened as he said dismissively “If you say so”

Then he turned around and went back to stand facing the two guys.

I released a sigh of relief when his attention shifted off me.

There was something about those light brown eyes that made gazing at them very difficult. Like he was fire and if I look too long, he will burn me whole right there.

When he addressed me in a soft voice; that I didn’t think he is capable of using, telling me sincerely that he wasn’t going to hurt me, I found some parts of me believing him and trusting him blindly. Somehow, a part of my heart saw something in him, because I have never trusted a man before in my entire life. I was always wary and on my guard with them. Like I said, it was always just me and my mom against this world, and I loved it that way.

I’ve never been close to any man before. I never even gave them a chance to get close as I always made sure to put a clear distance between me and them. My mom would always try to convince me that one bad man doesn’t make them all bad, and that someday, I might meet someone whom my heart will not allow me to place any kind of distance between me and him. I used to tell her that that will never happen, and she would only smile mysteriously at me and stay silent.

My heart decided that this was the man I should put my trust in and seek help from, but my mind screamed at me not to.

When he asked if I was kidnapped or not in that serious tone, as if he was secretly telling me that he is willing to help me if I speak the truth to him, My heart and mind went into a huge war against each other. Each fighting like hell to control my mouth and say their own answers to Lucas.

But my mind won eventually, and I found myself lying to him non stop. Starting from my name right down to the real reason why I tried to strangle that asshole to death.

Whether he believed any of my answers, I had no idea.

I mean the whole thing was so unbelievable to begin with, there is no way he believed a word of it.

But somehow, he let it go.

And that increased my anxiety ten folds because I felt like there was a disaster about to be unleashed soon.

Disaster began right after Lucas pulled his gun from the back of his jeans, cocked it, then pointed it between the two men.

“Where is Zade staying?” he asked seriously.

The driver spoke determinedly “We don’t know”

“You wanna try saying that again?” said Lucas darkly as he pointed the gun at his head.

“Lord Z took his precaution in case we get caught by you, we weren’t delivering her straight to him. We were going to hand her over to two other men working for him after we cross the border safely. They are the only ones who know where to deliver her. We don’t know where he is right now” said the other man rigidly, the one I tried to strangle earlier.

“One of you is going to tell me exactly where Damian Zade is residing currently, and he’ll get to stay alive. You have until I count to three, if none of you speak up, I’ll pick one at random and kill him instantly, while the other will suffer until he either speaks or dies a most painful death. I hope one of you is smart enough to save himself” he said in a deadly cold voice.
