Chapter 724: Rong Kuo’s Roar

Chapter 724: Rong Kuo’s Roar

He got out of bed and quietly went to the terrace to call Rong Kuo.If anyone’s got it bad, it’s Rong Kuo.

After Rong Qingqing hung up the phone, Rong Kuo went back to sleep.

It’s only been half an hour, just when he was getting into deep sleep, the phone rang again.

When he saw it was Shen Jue calling, Rong Kuo felt like he could swallow the hearts of the couple alive.

"What do you want?"

While he still spoke warmly to his sister, Rong Kuo’s tone towards Shen Jue was genuinely icy.

"Qingqing has called you late two nights in a row, is something wrong with Jixing?" Shen Jue asked, "If you need anything, you can contact me directly. For Qingqing’s sake, I, and Shen Group will give the utmost support."

Shen Jue’s implied message was for Rong Kuo not to bother Qingqing with Jixing’s matters. She’s pregnant, soon to give birth, and can’t handle the stress of midnight calls worrying about the company.

Hearing this, Rong Kuo first laughed out of frustration.

"What did I owe you two in my past life? What sin did I commit to end up with a sister like Rong Qingqing and a brother-in-law like you?"

"Did I dig up your shared grave in my past life?"

"Or did I accumulate massive debts to you two that need repaying in this life?"

"Neither of you care about me losing sleep and possibly dropping dead?"

"Do you think I’m just a robot that needs charging? Even if I were a robot, I’d need charging, right? Am I solar-powered then? Sunlight is enough to rest, like a plant? Just photosynthesis keeps me alive, huh?"

Rong Kuo wouldn’t dare criticize Qingqing, but he had no reservations with Shen Jue.

Shen Jue had never been cursed like this before; if the person weren’t Qingqing’s brother, anyone else would already be buying a ticket to hide in the North Pole overnight.

"I’m sorry." After listening to Rong Kuo, Shen Jue realized he’d misjudged him.

After all, Rong Kuo cared about Qingqing no less than he did; what Shen Jue understood, he had no reason to think Rong Kuo didn’t know.

"If apologies worked, what’s the point of the law?" Rong Kuo had started roaring.

Rong Kuo cursed for several minutes, and when he was satisfied, he finally calmed down.

Shen Jue patiently listened and then asked, "Why has Qingqing been calling her big brother the past two nights?"

"Don’t think calling me big brother twice means I won’t settle this score," Rong Kuo snorted, then replied, "She felt upset halfway through sleeping, said she found you annoying, so she called me to chat and relieve her stress. She’s annoyed with you; how did you upset her these past few days? Do you not know?"

"I didn’t know she was upset," Shen Jue genuinely had no idea, "In fact, she was in a great mood before going to sleep tonight."

Rong Kuo knew; the internet was rife with photos of the couple dining out, shopping, watching movies. In the pictures, Qingqing indeed looked particularly happy.

"She’s about to give birth, so her emotions might be a bit unstable. Put the company stuff aside for a while and be with her more, she might be scared," Rong Kuo sighed, "Though she appears cheerful and fearless, she was actually quite delicate and afraid of pain as a child."

On that note, Rong Kuo continued, "Jixing is very busy these days. Here’s the plan: stay with her as much as possible today and tomorrow, and the day after, I’ll come over and stay until she has the baby, then head back."
