Chapter 1090: Too Much to Bear
Chapter 1090: Too Much to Bear
Charles Seymour slightly curled his lips and lightly flicked Sophie Wilson’s forehead, "Mischievous!"Sophie covered her forehead with one hand, her beautiful peach blossom eyes widened like a little bullied kitten, pitiful and bewildered, accusingly staring at Charles Seymour.
Looking at her like this, Charles felt his heart melt into a puddle. He really wanted to pull her into his arms and give her a good cuddle, she was too cute, making his hands itch.
"How am I mischievous?" Sophie hummed naively, "I’m just retaliating."
Charles shook his head in amusement, "Your retaliation is too harsh. I guess James Reed can’t take it."
"That’s exactly what I want," Sophie’s gaze instantly turned cold, from innocent to fierce in a second, the quick change was astonishing.
Did they think she had mixed in those illegal companies for so many years for nothing?
Let them see her methods too.
Before she recovered her memory, she was too gentle, which let some boring people prance around for so long.
When James Reed returned in the evening, of course, Hayley Cole immediately complained, "... Can you believe it, how can Sophie Wilson be like this? It’s too much bullying! If it weren’t for Mom calming me down, I wouldn’t have let it go!"
"Hayley truly knows the big picture," James Reed laughed and said, "My brother has never liked me, always thinking I do all the bad things. Sorry, making you suffer along with me."
"I’m not really suffering, it’s just... aren’t they going too far?" Hayley frowned discontentedly, "They bully you like this, and you just put up with it?"
James didn’t say anything, but his fragile, helpless smile made Hayley’s heart ache, "You, you’re just too soft-hearted! No wonder they bully you!"
After being coaxed by James for a while, Hayley’s attention was diverted, all her grievances turned into sympathy for James, and she grew to hate Charles Seymour and Sophie Wilson even more.
On the next day, Ethan Seymour stopped James Reed who was about to go out, "James, handle the matter of Sophie Wilson coming yesterday as soon as possible."
Before James could speak, Hayley eagerly responded, "Dad, what is there for James to handle? Clearly, it’s Sophie Wilson’s fault, what’s it got to do with James?"
"Hayley, you don’t understand." Ethan, faced with such a foolish daughter-in-law, could only explain helplessly,
"Sophie Wilson caused a scene yesterday, saying you planned to kidnap Lucy Wells, and now probably half of Imperial City’s business circle knows about it."
"But that’s not true!" Hayley said confidently, "I didn’t actually kidnap anyone, it was just a conversation."
"This kind of ambiguous rumor can be the most damaging," Ethan said with a headache, "I want James to clarify, also for the sake of your reputation."
"I..." Hayley was just about to say something when the doorbell interrupted her, her eyes lit up, angrily saying, "It must be Sophie Wilson again!"
Before Ethan and James could react, Hayley had already rushed out like the wind.
"Out of the way!" Hayley pushed the maid aside and yelled at the person outside the door, "Sophie Wilson... Who are you?"
The unfamiliar man at the door made Hayley freeze.
The visitor smiled at Hayley and asked, "May I ask if you are Miss Hayley Cole?"
"Uh, yes, I am," Hayley nodded dumbfoundedly.
