My Alpha's Mark

36 Sorry

36 Sorry

Viktor

I needed to get her alone. I needed to get her away. I played it off when I spoke to Kacie and the others but I was nervous. I’ve never had to fight a witch before but I would throw everything I’ve got at her if she put up a fight.

I made my way to her room and tried to rein in my nerves. I had to make sure it didn’t show or give anything away. I was shitting bricks thinking she might have seen what our plan was.

I needed to gauge her reaction. Knowing about the little stunt she pulled to try and pull me and Kacie apart pissed me off. Even though my anger was close to overflowing I needed to ensure Kacie’s safety and my pack’s safety.

Despite the feeling in my gut telling me not to go through with this and the disagreements I couldn’t block out from Flash, I’d made my decision.

I walk up to her door and she opens the door before I have a chance to knock. I can’t help it when my eyes roam down her body, she’s wearing a skin-tight black sleeveless dress. Her legs…

I clench my jaw and drag my eyes from her body and look into her eyes. She’s staring at me with a vacant expression and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t scare me that she wasn’t excited to see me.

Does she know?

“I wanted to talk,” I say to her.

She looks at me and I don’t miss the way her eyes slowly run down my chest and back up to my face. I don’t miss the way she studies my facial expressions and I don’t miss the sadness that flashes through her eyes for only a second.

“What do you want to talk about? Do you wanna come in?” She asks, and moves her body out of the way for me to walk in.

I shake my head. “No, I was thinking we could go for a walk.”

She looks sullen but nods.

“Okay, give me a minute,” she says before disappearing. I watch her disappear down her hallway and I stand firmly in the doorway. I fight the pull from our bond as it tries to push me down the hall.

I bite down on my lip and taste blood. I let out a breath of relief when she reappears with her bag in hand. She reaches out and grabs my hand. I pause looking down to where our hands connect.

When I look back up at her she stared at me in… acceptance? I could afford her this one thing. I was rejecting her tonight and holding her hand wouldn’t change that.

Silence.

We walked and walked until I led her to where I first saw her. We didn’t say anything to each other and we didn’t look at each other. I held her hand and she held mine.

I gulped.

Turning around as she pressed her chest against mine, speaking low against my lips, “Wait.”

And even though I had no intention of giving her anything she leaned in and pressed her lips against mine.

I shook my head and pulled back.

“We were built for each other Viktor. You were destined for me and I for you.” She left soft, slow kisses along my jaw and down my neck, and I felt my arms break out in chills.

I grabbed her arms and held her out of reach, holding her tight, and looked down into her eyes. I watched as a stray tear rolled down her cheek.

“I, Viktor, Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, reject you, Clara the witch.”

She stared up at me her eyes glistening. I released her and pushed off her, backing up.

Her eyebrows nosedived, and her eyes pooled with tears. I saw her pain, I felt it.

She straightened her shoulders, “I, Clara the witch,” she spat, “accept your rejection.”

As soon as the words left her lips, the pain almost brought me to my knees. Clara fell but something invisible caught her. She glared at me before turning away from me.

When she crossed the border she looked back at me once more and I swear her lips formed the word ‘Sorry’ before she disappeared into the forest.

Kacie

Warning bells were going off in my head and I jumped back away from the intruder. I opened my mouth to scream when a hand clamped around my mouth. The stranger was now standing above me.

“You don’t think I’d let you scream and alert the others?” He whispers and I recognize him. He’s Ken’s Beta.

I ignore the fear and try to shake him off. My hands shoot out and grip his hands that are pushing down on my mouth. I’m not the same girl I was when I was under Ken. I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

“I wouldn’t do that. I have orders to take you and if you don’t want to listen.”

I try to bite his hand. “Bitch!” He grips my mouth tighter. “I have someone outside the Gamma’s room,” he growled. “I’d stop resisting if I were you.”

I still. Jamie?

I try to figure a way out of this. I let my eyes scan the room before my eyes drift to the window and back to the door. I don’t have many options right now. I could shift…

“Ah ah ah,” he says waving his finger left and right. He took the finger and pointed at his temple, “I can mind link him at any moment. I’ll have her throat slit without hesitation. Don’t try me, babe.”

I glare up at him.

“I’m going to remove my hand and you’re not going to scream. Are you?” He asks for good measure.

“Nod if you agree,” he threatens.

I nod. His hand slips from my mouth and he pulls it up to his eyes to get a better look at it. He inspected it like I’d torn out a chunk. I rolled my eyes. Aggravated he raised his eyes to look at me. He lunged forward, gripped my arm, and pulled me up.

“Let’s go.”
