Vision

The wind whips through the forest, the leaves rustle and dance. Jade, Nyx, and Natasha keep the line by my side. If not for Harper, they would never have gathered together here in one spot so close to the wolven border.

We grew up in hiding, we live in hiding from the wolven. If not for them, we wouldn’t have to live the way we do. Despite the loneliness and emptiness, we feel from not being able to come together often, I don’t mind living with my sister by my side.

We stand in unity, holding the line until we see two massive wolves come into view on the other side of the border, outside of the forest. One is smaller than the other, the smaller is all gray with silver eyes.

The larger of the two is pure black with glowing yellow eyes. His shoulder blades are massive, his muscles apparent through the fur, he’s… majestic. I wonder what he’d look like in his human form.

Nyx tuts at me, her eyes tell me she knows I’m distracted. I pull myself from my thoughts and watch as the large black one takes a few steps forward, his eyes on the forest.

I watch as he scans the shadows, his eyes pass me but return quickly to our location. His eyes linger and focus on us.

He knows.

I watch as his yellow eyes dilate and his nose slightly raises as he takes in my scent.

“Go,” my sisters whisper through the wind. “Go,” they urge and I know they can’t keep the line up for much longer.

My powers reach out to him, hating the distance between us and I wonder why they care about this wolf. They reach out and touch him gently as they do the leaves. Their whispering swirls around me and confuses me.

“Destined,” they whisper.

“Our destined,” they coo to him, coo in my ear.

“He is ours,” they whisper as they urge me to get closer.

I look to my sisters and they give me faint smiles, small encouraging smiles. “Get her. Keep her safe,” they whisper. They did all they could and I know they will leave as soon as I leave the forest and cross over into the border.

My eyes fall back onto the massive black wolf, he takes a step closer but stops when I take a step out of the shadows.

His eyes follow my leg and slide up my body when my other leg steps out of the forest, taking me from my sisters, and putting me under the light of the moon.

“He will take us home,” my powers whisper.

Clara Present Day

His hand is wrapped around my neck, his nails piercing my skin, his hot breath fan my cheek. He stands a foot above me, his eyes dull but cold as he looks down his nose at me.

“Keep your end of the deal and you’ll see her again,” he promises. Hope blooms in my chest as I think of my little sister. I don’t know how I’d be able to continue living if she doesn’t make it out alive. I open my mouth to speak despite his tightening grip around my throat. I don’t care what this mutt does to me but the thoughts of her being alone with him makes my skin crawl.

Wolves are disgusting creatures, I can sense his fear even now as he glares at me. For years they’ve hunted our kind, kidnapped our young, murdered our old. I’d kill him now if I knew where Harper was.

Even now his slimy gaze slides up my body, taking in the dips and curves of my lush form under my sheer clothing. I spit at him mentally.

“I had a vision,” I say through choked breaths. His eyes shoot up to my eyes, intrigue at the forefront of his mind now. “There’s a wolf….” I take a small breath careful not to let his hand squeeze tighter with more space between my neck and his grip. “His name is…” Another small breath. “Viktor.”

Insanity lights up the mutt’s eyes as he registers what I said. His mouth opens, his head falls back as he lets out a loud barreling laugh.

When he’s done he looks back down at me and his grip lessens around my throat. “Tell me of this vision,” he says with a smirk.

“In 2 days’ time, I’ll find myself in front of him on the border of his lands and the forest,” I tell him. “He will be in wolf’s form and he will take me into his home.” Confusion furrows the mutt’s brows, “You lie,” he seethes.

“I do not,” I say firmly.

“Why would he take you into his home? Witches are forbidden from being on pack lands. He’d never let you on his lands, and he sure as fuck wouldn’t let you into his packhouse. Unless…” he trails off.

“Are you going to bewitch him?” He says a smile on his lips.

“Release me,” I spit.

His fingers disappear from my neck and he takes a small step back a feigned innocent look on his face.

“Enlighten me, witch,” he coos.

“In the vision, he calls me his mate.”

This causes the mutt to snarl, “I fucking knew it,” he seethes, anger pouring through his body, his eyes glow as he jerks trying to fight his wolf.

“He took our pet,” the wolf growls from within. “He took what’s oursss.”

I step back, my body flush against the wall. The wolf looks up at me, “Do as we’ve agreed and I’ll release your kin,” he says with a sinister smile. “Failure to follow-through will lead to her bleeding heart in my claws.”

My breath catches. The power licking at my fingertips, running through my body threatening to come out and strip this mutt to the bone. Restraining against the pull to skin the mutt, I nod.

“I’ll get your pet,” I spit. “My sister better be in one piece when I get her, or there will be hell to pay,” I say before disappearing into thin air.
