159: Let's Annoy Bryce Some More
"I just saw Martin at AT&T," Susan said as soon as her call was answered.
"He is probably getting a new sim for investigation or something. Follow him and find out what he is doing there and what he is up to," Devon said.
"Okay, " Susan replied. "I will speak with my friend. She should be able to get me that information without a problem," she said and the call ended.
Susan found somewhere to hide and kept her gaze on the AT&T shop's exit. She saw Martin step out of the shop. She watched as Martin shoved something into his jacket and walked towards a blank Range Rover. Susan frowned.
"When did Bryce change his car?" Susan thought but remembered Bryce was with the Davis family now.
Susan watched the car leave and quickly emerged from her hiding, her eyes fixated on the car driving away. She stopped a taxi and got inside.
"Hurry, follow that Range Rover," Susan said and the taxi driver did as requested.
After a couple of turns, Martin noticed he was being followed. Meanwhile, back in the taxi, Susan was on a call with someone.
"Hi, it's me again, I need your help with something," Susan said with a smile like her friend could see her face.
"Hi, Susan. How may I help you?" Susan's friend asked reciprocating the same excitement as Susan.
"What I am about to ask you, may be a little sensitive but it's a matter of life and death," Susan said making her friend suddenly worried.
"What happened?" Susan's friend asked.
"You saw the man that engaged the customer service officer on table 3?" Susan began.
"The young mean-looking guy?" Susan's friend described Martin as she had seen him.
"Yes, he was in a white shirt with black trousers and a black jacket. He had a crest on his jacket," Susan had more details to help her friend know who she was talking about.
"Yeah, I saw him," Susan's friend said.
"Can you help me with what he came to do there?" Susan asked.
"That is private information," Susan's friend said.
"It's a life and death situation. He is not what you think he is. I am following him as we speak," Susan said sounding like Martin was a world-wanted criminal who had broken out of prison.
"Fine, I will go check. This is for old time's sake," Susan's friend said.
"Thank you," Susan appreciated.
"Give me five minutes," she said and Susan waited to hear from her friend.
While waiting for her friend, Susan moved her gaze to the car screen in from of her and realized the Range Rover was gone. She squeezed her face.
"Where is the ride we are following?" Susan asked the driver with her hand covering the mouthpiece of her phone.
"Er, it went in front of that truck in front of us," the driver replied.
"You can't lose sight of the car," Susan said to the driver sounding a little annoyed.
"Very well ma'am," the driver said calmly and checked his right-side mirror.
The driver moved away from behind the truck into the second lane once the place was cleared but upon driving past the truck, he realized the Range Rover was gone.
"Ma'am, I lost the car," the driver informed Susan.
"Damnit," Susan said.
"He came to do a sim card replacement for one Angela Anderson," Susan's friend's voice travelled to Susan's ears.
"Pardon me?" Susan said as she didn't hear what her friend had said.
"He was here to do a sim card replacement for Angela Anderson," Susan's friend repeated.
"Okay, thanks. I owe you one," Susan said and wondered why Martin would be doing a SIM card replacement for Angela.
"Don't make this a habit. If I am caught I could lose my job," Susan's friend said.
"Don't worry. I won't," Susan said and ended the call.
"Ma'am, should I end the trip?" the driver asked still driving with no destination in mind.
"No, take me to this place," Susan said and showed the Moore family home address to the driver.
"Very well," the driver said and drove towards the direction of the Moore family house which was not less than 45 minutes drive away.
A couple of hours earlierMartin had parked his car in a garage waiting for Susan to give up. He had taken that stretch of the road because he knew there was a public garage there and there was a truck using the stretch. He changed the lanes and switched back to his original lane where he ended up in front of the truck. He then used the big truck as a cover and he drove into the garage which was right after a curve. Susan's driver didn't see him make that move because of the curve which didn't give him much visibility of what was happening ahead. Again, the truck was also in front of his ride. Martin used that to escape Susan.
Where Martin had parked in the public garage, he saw the taxi following him drive past and that was when he saw Susan in the back seat of the car from the half-closed back window. He drove out of the garage and made use of the U-turn ahead of him going back the same way he had come in so he could return home to the new apartment.
Back to the presentAt Devon's apartment, Susan got out of the car and paid the driver. She walked into the compound and was soon inside the building. She went straight to Devon's study, knowing he would be there.
"I was following Martin, but I lost him," Susan said dropping his back on the couch.
"He probably saw you and hid somewhere so you will drive past him," Devon said. "That boy is smart. Sometimes I wish, he was working for me and not Bryce," he added.
"Well, he was doing a sim card replacement for Angela at the AT&T shop," Susan informed him making herself comfortable on the couch.
"I am sure Bryce has the information we put out there point to Angela as the brain behind the whole murder thing. He would be mad at Angela now," Devon said and rubbed his chin with his fingers.
"Wait! Are you thinking Angela is seeking refuge with Martin?" Susan asked.
"I think, she is having an affair with Martin. You said the girl sleeps around, right?" Devon said smiling like the statement he made was a count of Angela's achievement.
"No," Susan said. "I worked with that girl for a couple of months. She is not that type. I just made that statement out of anger to paint her black," she explained. "If anything, I knew she loves Bryce," she added.
"Fine, it doesn't have to be true. We just need to spread the rumour on social media. All we need is a picture of Martin and Angela. We create a scandal. Call chief, I need a specific picture taken in the cell where Angela was kept," Devon said.
"You are talking about dirty pictures?" Susan asked staring at Devon.
"Yes. We just swap the faces with those of Angela and Martin. Then we stamp it with a date that Angela was in prison. I need a professional on this one. It must be very convincing, such that the world including Bryce would believe it," Devon said.
"I will call the chief," Susan said smiling. "Let's annoy Bryce some more, is an amazing plan," Susan said smiling, while she fetched her phone.
"Hello Chief, I need your help," Susan said on the call with a broad smile plastered on her face once the chief answered the call.
Back at the abandoned place, George had just arrived at where they had kept Zora. He tasked one of his men to call Angela's phone. It went straight to voicemail, twice but George still insisted that the guard should call again.
"Hello," came Angela's sweet voice after the guard had dialled her number again for the third time.
