Chapter 97: Murderer Revealed - Part 2

Chapter 97: Murderer Revealed - Part 2

The officer after sitting for hours left to get himself a cup of coffee. While the officer was away, the system matched the fingerprint to a man displaying a match percentage of 85% but after a minute the images started moving again. The officer returned to his seat and continued staring at the system screen. The system was finally done and it displayed two images. A man with 100% match and a woman with 100% match. The officer quickly printed out the results and headed for his boss's office. He entered the office after a gentle knock on the door.

"Sir, the system picked two people from the fingerprints," the officer reported.

"Let me see," the chief requested and accepted the printout from the officer's hand.

"Now listen carefully. If you want to keep your job here in this station, you will do exactly what I am going to tell you," the chief said after looking at the printout. "Drop the man and write your report on the woman," he added. "Your mum is still at the hospital and you and I know you can't afford to lose this job," he warned. "If another soul hears about this, consider your appointment here terminated. Do you understand?" he added.

"Yes sir," the officer responded almost stammering.

"Good, go do as I have instructed and make sure no one sees you," the chief said and the officer left the office.

The chief quickly dialled Susan's number and waited for the call to connect.

"Hello, the fingerprint match results are out. Your man almost messed things up by leaving his fingerprints on the weapons but don't worry that has been taken care of. I called to inform you to get your eyewitness ready," the officer said.

"Thank you chief. This means a lot to me. I shall compensate you accordingly," Susan said from the other end of the call.

"That sounds perfect. I prefer to pick it up on cash," the chief said smiling ear to ear.

"That wouldn't be a problem. I have it ready. Let me know when you want to pick it up," Susan said.

"Great," the chief said. "One more thing. Mr Moore was here earlier. He wanted to know first-hand what we find before the news goes out to the public. What would you prefer?" he asked.

"Ignore him. Send me an image of the results," Susan said already planning to leak the news to the gossip media.

"Sure, I will send it over. I will get a warrant for the arrest of Angela Anderson," the chief said and ended the call.

The chief called the officer back to his office and took a picture of the printout. He sent it to Susan after dismissing the officer.

Back at Susan's apartment, she was relaxing on her balcony when her phone buzzed with a message. She smiled and checked it. She sent the image via email to someone and followed it up with a call.

"I have sent you an image. I need you to leak it to the public," Susan said with a smile plastered on her face.

She is a shareholder in Diamond Corporation now. She has enough money.

"I will wire the money into your account," she said to the person. "How soon can you get it done?" she asked.

"Within half an hour," the person replied.

"That is perfect. I will wire the money into your account once I see the news," Susan said and ended the call.

"Time to visit Mr Devon. I need to be there to see the look on their face when the news confirming Angela as the murderer comes out," Susan whispered to herself and smiled.

She got up from the chair and went up to her bedroom. She found something simple but nice to wear. She grabbed her car keys and was soon out of the house driving towards the Moore Family house.

At the Moore family home, Patricia was sitting on the balcony going through pictures of Elena.

"My dearest daughter. Who did this to you?" Patricia asked staring at Elena's picture.

"Ma'am, please Ms Susan is here to visit the family," the servant announced to Patricia and she just nodded.

Patricia stood up and exited the balcony. She went through the family living room and entered the guest living room. Susan was standing in the middle of the room.

"Good afternoon Mrs Moore," Susan greeted politely.

"Good afternoon Susan, how are you?" Patricia asked and offered Susan a seat.

"I am good. How are you and how is the family coping?" Susan asked sounding concerned.

"Time is a healer of many things. Time will tell," Patricia replied.

"Justice for Ms Elena will also help with the healing. I pray the police catch the murderer soon," Susan said and she heard her phone buzz.

Susan pulled her phone out of her bag and checked the notification on the screen. She smiled inwardly. The news has been leaked.

"Angela is the murderer after all," the two ladies heard Devon say before he entered the living room. "Welcome Susan. I didn't know you were here," he said in a calm voice.

"I just came to visit the family," Susan said.

"Thank you for coming," Devon said. "You are a good woman and I know I made the right choice for my son," he added.

"Devon, you do forget Bryce already has someone he cares about," Patricia reminded with a frown.

"You seriously want your son to be with a woman who killed your daughter?" Devon asked in front of Susan, his voice very loud.

"Angela is no murderer. She will not do such a thing," Patricia defended.

"Oh, you think I am making this up?" Devon said. "Check the news," he said and showed Patricia his phone.

"This is a gossip news. They could be fabricating stories. The police have not said anything so how come they have something?" Patricia questioned.

"In every lie, there is an iota of truth. I would not allow Bryce to be dragged into a scandal by a murderer," Devon said and turned on the TV.

The police have finally found the killer of Elena Moore and it is quite shocking to know that the killer happened to be a former employee of Diamond Corporation, Angela Anderson, who was working closely with Mr Bryce Moore as a secretary. The police will be making an arrest soon

Patricia stared at the TV screen expressionless and Susan's hand flew to her mouth with an expression of shock registered on her face. Devon's face carried a smile happy Angela would be out of Bryce's life.
