Chapter 18: Murder in the Home

Chapter 18: Murder in the Home

"My poor little angel, I'm so sorry to hear your day went badly," Mrs Anderson said from the other side of the call. "Now, tell. What happened," she asked.

Angela wiped her tears and sniffled before she began to talk. She told Mrs Anderson everything that had transpired in the company including Eva's calls and Bernard bothering her the previous day and in the morning before work.

"Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that. I wish there was something I could do to help," Mrs Anderson said in resignation.

"Mummy, don't worry. I had a choice in all of this. I could have ignored them, and they wouldn't have gotten me, but I got angry. I didn't just get angry, I allowed my anger to take the better part of me. My boss tried to warn me, but I was too angry to listen. Listening to him scold me, I could feel in his voice he did all he could to prevent me from going into such a mess, but I was too stubborn," Angela said, taking the blame.

"Sweetheart, don't be too hard on yourself. You did have the right to get angry. I know I will be mad too, but as you rightly said, in your anger, you did have a choice about what to do, but you made the wrong call," Mrs Anderson said. "I am going to pray. I am sure God will do something about this. As long as you have repented of your actions. God will intervene," Mrs Anderson added, and Angela sighed listening to Mrs Anderson's religious beliefs. "You will be fine," she added.

They spoke for a while and the call ended. Angela took a shower and lay down to sleep. She knew she would face the disciplinary committee the next day to decide her fate. She curled herself up in bed and her eyes were filled with tears. She slowly drifted off to sleep.

It was fifteen minutes to the hour eight in the home of the Adams. The beautiful New York City was already looking bright with every home putting on its light and the street lights brightening the streets of the beautiful city.

The voice of a woman travelled through the living room reminding a little girl, that it was time for bed.

"Awww, mum. When can I get to sit with your guys with no bedtime?" the little girl whined.

"When you finish college," came the voice of the little girl's father

"And you make good grades," the little girl's mother added.

"And you start working," her father said and her mother giggled.

"That would take a long time," the little girl said, pouting her lips.

"Let me take you to your bedroom and tuck you in," said the little girl's mother and she held the little girl's hand leading her to her bedroom.

There was a knock on the door as soon as the two left and one of the servants went to answer it. The little girl's father's sharp ears picked up a 'thud' sound indicating someone falling to the floor. He quickly stood up, walked towards the bar, and pulled out a pistol from a secret safe behind some of the drinks. He slowly walked towards the main door and found the servant on the floor in a pool of blood and the door closed. He retrieved his steps and headed for the staircase leading upstairs but all the lights in the house went off suddenly.

The little girl was instructed by her mother to stay in bed the little girl heard a muffling sound and she called out to her mother in the darkness feeling very scared. She called out to her daddy next feeling she was not alone.

A hand in gloves grabbed the little girl, and she screamed out of fear, knowing there was no way that hand was her father's.

"Let me go," the little girl screamed as she kicked her legs in the air.

The little girl felt the softness of the sofa as she was forced to sit, and a hand held her down. The lights were turned back on and she saw her mother and father both tied up and sitting next to each other on the dining chair in placed in the living room. Her father's face was covered in bruises with one of his eyes swollen and looking purple. His nose was fractured, and blood stains were on his nose and the side of his lips. Surrounding them were four masked men.

"Show your face, cowards. If you are strong, untie me and face me like a man," the little girl's father yelled.

"Oh no. Even a fool knows better not to unlock the cage of an angry lion in the name of showing braveness,' came the voice of one of the masked men.

"What do you want?" the little girl's mother asked, not at all afraid.

"Brave woman. I see your husband did not just fuck you, but he passed on some of his strength to you. So you suddenly feel tough. Let's see how tough you are," the masked man said and punched the little girl's mother in the stomach and she whinced, suppressing a scream.

"Mummy," the little girl screamed, watching her mother crutch her teeth together, holding back her pain as the front of her dress was quickly stained with blood.

The man had a small knife in between his fingers and that was what he punched the woman with. He gave the woman multiple punches and she finally let out a cry.

"Now that is better. You are now acting like a woman," the masked man said and turned to look at the little girl whose mouth had been covered by another masked man being forced to watch all that was happening.

Tears flowed down her face as the white dress her mother was wearing was soaked in blood. Her father's clothes were no different as his shirt had stains of blood all over.

"What do you want?" the little girl's father asked.

"Finally, your senses came back," said the third masked man who was sitting with his legs crossed relaxing on a single-chair sofa.

"That was the question you should have asked in the beginning. I could have spared your daughter from this rated scene," the man said in his deep voice. "How old are you little girl? Now, before you go silent on me or say something unpleasant, remember, your parents will pay for each wrong word that comes out of your mouth," the man warned before the little girl's mouth was uncovered to speak.

"13," the little girl replied in tears and the man indicated for her mouth to be covered again.

"Too young to watch such a violent scene, but it is your fault for not having parental control on what to expose your child to," the man said and turned to look at one of his men.

The man quickly walked towards the little girl's father with a piece of paper and a pen.

"Now, if you love this little girl sitting there," the man began, and a pen knife was placed on the little girl's neck. "You will sign these documents before I cut her into pieces and feed her to you and your wife," the man said with a smirk.

The little girl's father watched as the man holding the knife to his daughter's neck started cutting her neck with it. He shut his eyes, seeing the blood trickle down the little girl's neck. The pen was placed into his tied-up hand and the paper was pushed under his hand. He quickly signed his signature without looking at what was in the document.

"Now little girl, which one of your parents would you like to say goodbye to first," the man said and laughed. "Is it mummy or daddy?" he asked and sat down next to the little girl.

He placed the little girl's hand on his pistol and held her hand in place.

"Now this is what we call a pistol. This one belongs to your father. See, it has his initials engraved on it," the man said, and showed the little girl the initials on the gun.

"Now, I am going to teach you how to shoot," the man said and turned to one of his men.

"Put a cover on their heads, this child is only 13," he said, and the little girl saw one of the masked men cover her parent's head with a black sack.

Next, the man sitting next to her holding her hand on the pistol aimed at her mother and pressed the trigger with the little girl's finger. Even though there was no sound from the gun, the little girl saw a hole made in the sack covering her mother's head. Her mother's head dropped and blood started dripping onto her lap.

The man did the same to the little girl's father. The little girl had her mouth covered so all her screams could not come out. They let go of her, and she stood up from the sofa. She ran to her mother and hugged her on the seat.

"It is very typical of children to always concern themselves about their mother first," the little girl heard the man say.

Pew! The little girl heard the sound and felt a sharp pain in her waist region. She fell to the ground, but her eyes were still open, and she saw one of the masked men pick up an artefact her father had told her belonged to his father. She watched the legs of the men as they headed for the door before darkness covered her.

"Wake up," Angela heard a distant voice say to her. "Calm down," she heard the voice again.

Angela opened her eyes and found Bryce inside her room holding her hands. Angela scanned her environment and broke down crying.

Bryce sat down on the bed and pulled her into his embrace. She was all broken. He was in his office when he heard her scream. He rushed to the room and realized she was asleep. Holding her in his arms he could her terrified she was. Angela continued to cry making Bryce wonder what was going on.
