Royal Shifters Series

Book 8: Raelynn

Book 8: Raelynn

It’s been strange but also relaxing not to have any responsibilities the past few days. Honestly, I’m almost sure I needed the time off. After everything that happened with Soren and the black wolves, a vacation was in dire need.

It hasn’t been long since the night of the battle, but in a way, it feels as if it was an eternity ago. So many wonderful things have happened. Micah has received several calls from his brothers, saying how the mating signs are appearing rapidly across the surrounding packs. It makes me ecstatic to know that others are finding their true happiness.

Micah isn’t the same man he was before the fight. He’s changed somehow, more at peace. His connection to the land has given him a direct line to the Great Luna. Word has spread about Micah’s abilities to draw energy from the elements, and it’s brought even more attention to the Royal pack. I wouldn’t necessarily consider that a good thing, but maybe it’ll keep us safe from attacks. Who knows what the future will bring?

All I know is that my life is about to change. The wind blows against my skin, and I breathe in the fresh scent of the fir and pine trees in the distance. In my ears, I can hear the whooshing of the river just down the hill. Excitement blossoming in my chest, I peer up at the night sky. The full moon is tonight, and I’m delighted with the thought of being Micah’s mate. I’m ready for him to be mine.

However, my time here is bittersweet. I’m gaining a new love but losing another when we fly back to Wyoming tomorrow. I think I’ve heard the story six times now, and it never gets old. Sadly, every time I listen to it, the outcome is still the same. Dany’s leaving. Am I happy for her? Absolutely. Will I miss her? More than anything.

After Micah and I left for California, Dany stayed at our cabin to wait for Archer. The second he showed up that night, they locked eyes, and the mating signs appeared. With the full moon being tonight, they’ve decided to wait a little while. I don’t blame them. So many changes are about to come their way.

I told Dany we would celebrate when Micah and I got back into town. It’ll be one last big shindig before she leaves for South Dakota. Her place is with Archer and the Black Hills pack as their female alpha. I never thought we’d be separated, but I understand. She has to go where her heart leads her.

The door opens behind me, and Micah walks out, placing a gentle kiss on my neck. “Thinking about Dany?”

He wraps his arms around my waist, and I rest my hands over his. “I’m going to miss her.”

Micah sighs. “I know. South Dakota isn’t far from Wyoming. We can visit her as much as you want.”

“I’d like that,” I murmur, determined to see her at least a couple of times a month. Dany’s been a sister to me my entire life. My heart will break when she leaves. Turning around in Micah’s arms, I suck back the tears. “Tonight is supposed to be about us. I don’t want to be sad.”

His eyes snap up to the moon. “No, we don’t want that. It’s almost time.”

I can feel his need pour into me, ready to take me as his mate. Grinning, I kiss him quickly. “Give me a couple of minutes to get ready. I’ll call for you when I’m done.”

Micah smirks. “I’ll be waiting out here.”

He lets me go, and I hurry into the bedroom. The gift Bailey and Faith gave me is in the closet, so I pull it out and set the contents on the bed. There are four candles and a lighter, along with a sexy, sheer blue lingerie gown with a silver crescent moon charm in the center area of the breasts.

After taking off my clothes, I slip into the lingerie, knowing very well it’s not going to stay on long. Once the candles are placed on the dressers and lit, I take one last look around the room. It gives the area a seductive and sensual vibe, and it’s just what I want. Although, something is missing. Moving over to the window, I slide the curtains aside and look up at the moon. It’s full and bright, the magic of it feeling stronger than I’ve ever felt before. I open the window so the cool breeze can glide through the room and the moonbeams can cast in their alluring glow.

Taking it all in, I smile. Now it’s perfect.

“I’m ready,” I call out to Micah through our bond.

A few seconds later, his footsteps thump up the stairs and stop outside of the bedroom door. The door slowly opens, and he steps inside, his need spiking to great heights. His eyes lock on my body, and they glow with raw intensity.

“You are so fucking beautiful.” Micah stalks over to me and pulls me into his arms, sliding his hands underneath my gown and over the curve of my ass.

I can feel him harden against me.

“I’m ready, Micah,” I murmur against his lips.

He moves me back toward the bed. “So am I, love. So am I.”

The backs of my legs hit the mattress, and he slowly guides me onto the bed. I slide back and watch him as he takes off his shirt and tosses it onto the floor. The moon shines across his skin, and all I want to do is run my fingers over his chest and trace every inch of him with my tongue. His need for me intensifies the need I have for him. We’re fueling each other’s desires.

Micah covers me with his body, and I moan as he rubs his arousal against me. His hand slides up the bottom of my lingerie, cupping my swollen breast. He groans and massages it, pinching my nipple between his fingers. Arching off the bed, I cry out.

“Does that feel good?” he asks, sucking my lip between his teeth.

I nod, loving how every nerve ending in my body tingles. “I want more.”

Groaning, he thrusts himself against me and lifts my gown. The second he closes his warm lips over my breast, I draw in a ragged breath. I fist my fingers in his hair and pull as he ravishes my body with his tongue, teasing and biting both nipples, one after the other.

“You taste so fucking good,” he growls.

Micah rips off my lingerie and throws it across the room. A giggle escapes my lips because I can just imagine what Bailey and Faith will say if I show them the tattered garment.

Sliding off the bed, Micah rakes his gaze up and down my body as he takes off the rest of his clothes. He watches me squirm impatiently, and in return, he strokes himself, torturing me in the process. I want to touch him. Climbing back on the bed, he crawls up my body, spreading my legs with his knee—my whole body trembles with anticipation.

As soon as he gets closer, I wrap my fingers around his cock, massaging his length. He bites back a breath and groans, his heated gaze on mine the entire time. “You’re killing me, love. I want to be inside of you so fucking bad I can’t stand it.”

My voice comes out as a husky whisper. “Then what are you waiting for?”

He kisses me hard. “Soon.” Then, grabbing my wrist, he pulls my hand away and holds it above my head. “It’s my turn now.”

He traces a finger over my breasts and down my stomach with his free hand. My clit throbs, and I know the second he shows it some attention, I’ll be pushed over the edge. He slides a finger inside of me, and I gasp. When he pushes another finger in, I scream in ecstasy as everything explodes from the inside out. My eyes roll back into my head as I ride the final wave of my orgasm.

Micah pulls his fingers out and puts them in his mouth, moaning with his eyes closed. All I can see is raw, primal need when he opens them. Clasping his face in my hands, I lean up and kiss him as he positions himself between my legs. He pushes in just a bit, and I stiffen with the pleasure and pain of it.

Closing his lips over mine, he kisses me gently and slides the rest of the way in. I wrap my legs around his waist, squeezing as tight as I can to keep him there. I want to feel all of him, as deep as he can go. Micah slowly starts to move against me, our bodies sliding against each other. I can’t think of anything else but the two of us, our bodies connected as one. The magic of the moon circles around us, ready to bond us together when our mating is complete. It’s a beautiful sight.

Picking up his pace, Micah grunts with his thrusts. My orgasm builds, and the more he pushes against me, the closer I’m brought to the edge.

“Micah,” I scream, digging my nails into his back.

Holding me tight, he finishes inside of me, his cock pulsating with his release. He collapses on top of me, his breath coming out in huffs as his icy blue gaze bores into mine. Still connected, we watch as the shimmering glow of the moon’s magic absorbs into our bodies, combining us as one. I feel stronger, more alive. Yet what I really feel is the connection to not only Micah but to the earth’s elements. The gift the Great Luna gave to him is now within me.

Micah cups my cheeks and kisses me. “How do you feel, love?”

I have never felt so happy in my life. Looking up into his eyes, I let the tears fall out of mine. “Complete,” I whisper against his lips. “I feel wholeheartedly and utterly complete.”

He smiles. “So do I.”

***

The rest of the night was spent making love until the moon disappeared and the beginning of the sunrise peeked over the horizon. I don’t want to get out of bed, but I know we have to hit the road in a couple of hours to fly back to Wyoming.

Micah presses his body against my back, his warm lips on my neck. “You know, we still haven’t had a proper vision. Do you want to give it a try?”

Sharing blood gives you a glimpse into your future, and it’s true … Micah and I haven’t had a genuine vision yet. The only thing we saw before was the crossroads leading to the dark and the other road to the light.

I snuggle against him. “I don’t need a vision to know our future. I showed it to you once.” It wasn’t an actual vision from the Great Luna but one of my own making.

Micah turns me onto my back and covers me with his body, smiling. “Yes, you did. We had three boys, and they chased us around a field.”

Giggling, I give him a nod. “That’s right. There might be a little girl in there somewhere, too.”

Micah spreads my legs wide, settling himself between them. “Is that what you want?” I nod again, and he kisses me. “Then, that’s what you’ll get.”

We may choose our destiny, but it would be nice to see what the Great Luna has in store for us. “Let’s try it,” I whisper, wrapping my legs around his waist. “I’m curious to see what’ll happen.”

Micah’s fangs grow, and he nips his bottom lip, drawing a bead of blood to the surface; I do the same. He stares down at me, his excitement mirroring my own. “Are you ready?”

To answer him, I lift my lips to his, our blood mingling together and the flavor exploding on my tongue. The world grows hazy around us, and we’re thrust into a vision of our future.

When the smoky sheen disappears, that’s when I see the incredible sight before me. The sound of laughter fills my senses, and I smile the second I see our three little boys running around the garden at the yellow cottage.

Micah squeezes my hand and points over at the porch. “Look.”

I glance over at the porch, and there we are, watching our boys chase each other. But that’s not all I see. In my arms is a bundle of joy, wrapped in a cream-colored blanket with a pink ribbon around her tiny head.

“You were right,” Micah murmurs, kissing the side of my head. “We make our own future.”

“Yes, we do,” I mutter back. “And this is ours.”
