The tavern has an interesting name.
Bar Gold Roger.
Behind the letters is a skull, which seems to be a tavern that welcomes pirates.
The terrain here is cramped, with narrow alleys between various houses. The alleys are uneven, with many steps and a complex network of intersections.
This tavern...
Dimon guessed it might be the house Luffy visited in the story.
Upon entering, the tavern was fairly lively, with only a few customers here and there.
The tavern owner, a middle-aged man, was mixing drinks for customers.
Seeing Smoker enter through the door, he frowned and said:
"Where have you gone to steal money again, Smoker?"
"Just here for a meal."
Smoker pursed his lips.
The boss's gaze fell on Dimon and his group, and he snorted:
“Unfamiliar faces, or children, get out of here. This is not a place for you.”
"Don't be so formal, boss."
Dimon chuckled twice and led his men to the bar to sit down: "Give them a glass of water, then some food to fill their stomachs, and finally, a Margarita for me."
"Are you even an adult? Kid, still drinking?" the boss laughed.
"I'm an adult now, but I'll always be 20."
The boss shook his head and didn't refuse again. He went to the kitchen to get some food and water, and finally made a Margarita for Dimon.
"Here you are, your Margaret."
The owner stood behind the bar with his arms crossed, grinning, and said, "You bunch of kids, this tavern only serves pirates. This is the first time any child has dared to come here."
"You seem to know Smoker quite well?"
Dimon took a sip of his drink. It was pretty good; the bartending was excellent. It was a bit surprising that it was so quiet.
“That kid had no parents. Once he was starving and was standing at the door. I just gave him some food out of kindness.”
The boss glanced at Smoker.
Since then, the kid would often come to his place to drink after stealing money, but of course, he always refused to provide any, only giving him some food.
"You lot aren't locals, are you? Did you come to watch the execution of the Pirate King?"
The boss smiled when One Piece was mentioned.
“Yes, boss, the name of your tavern is quite interesting,” Dimon asked curiously.
"Of course, this is a bar that Roger frequented before he went to sea. I'm an old friend of his!"
The boss proudly puffed out his chest; that was many years ago, when he was still a young man.
One day, Roger was drinking here and said:
"I'm going to sea, and I might just turn the world upside down. Stay tuned for my news, hahaha!"
After leaving those words, Roger left and never returned.
Then I saw his news.
5 million...10 million...1 billion...55 billion!
Until recently, the news that he became the Pirate King spread all over the world!
"The execution will begin in a little over two hours, right?"
The boss went on and on, reminiscing about the past: "Being publicly executed in his own hometown, Roger was truly... an amazing man!"
"They're going to be executed anyway, so what?" Dimon scoffed.
"He's a notorious pirate!"
The boss scoffed, "What do you know, you little brat? A public execution is the greatest honor for the Pirate King. Countless years from now, people will still remember this day. This is a day in history!"
"Hey, you're quite the smooth talker."
Dimon praised.
The boss was speechless. "Why are you talking like an old man, you little brat? Hurry up and drink your wine, I'm closing down soon."
"You're going to watch the execution too?"
"Of course, to witness the death of the Pirate King!"
Upon hearing this, Dimon couldn't help but chuckle.
"Then you're going to be disappointed. You'll see something much more interesting than Roger's death."
Time passed by as I chatted with the bar owner.
Hawkeye remained silent, simply eating his meal. Shanks and Bucky, however, were uneasy, their unease growing more pronounced as the execution date approached.
Only Smoker occasionally participated in the conversation.
The boss recounted anecdotes about Luo Jie's time at sea, which Dimon listened to as just stories.
More than two hours later, at 11:50 a.m., the crowd, having eaten and drunk their fill, arrived at the execution square.
Ten minutes until the public execution!
Chapter 88 Execution, the Elixir of Immortality in Full Bloom
As the execution drew near, the square was packed with people.
Dimon and his group arrived late and there were no seats left close to the plaza; they were squeezed onto the outermost edge, with their backs to the buildings outside the plaza.
Bucky brought over some boxes to stand on, and the group stood on the boxes so they could see the execution platform in the center of the square.
Dimon spotted someone in the circle closest to the execution platform.
This person had a bird's head on his head, wore a black top hat, and had a camera hanging around his neck.
World Economic News Agency, Morgans, Zoan-type Bird-Bird Fruit user, Albatross form.
Dimon was not at all surprised that he was watching the execution.
At that moment, a commotion suddenly broke out in the square, which was as noisy as a vegetable market.
Below the execution platform, a naval captain held a megaphone Den Den Mushi, his voice transmitted through telepathic waves to the surrounding broadcast towers, eventually resounding in everyone's ears.
"Bring the prisoner!"
In an instant, all eyes turned and looked in the same direction.
The execution avenue leading to the square was divided into two sides by two squads of naval soldiers.
Then, the sound of orderly footsteps could be heard.
Accompanied by the sound of chains grinding together, the figure of Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, gradually came into view.
His steps were steady and his demeanor was imposing.
It was as if he were not a pirate heading towards the end of his life, but a general returning in triumph.
Roger even had a smile on his lips.
"Captain Roger!"
Bucky clenched his fists nervously, staring intently at the man, tears and snot streaming down his face uncontrollably.
The scene was extremely quiet, with only the rhythmic sounds of soldiers and prisoners walking around.
Standing beneath the execution platform, the naval captain stared at Roger and said in a deep voice:
"Please come to the execution platform."
"Could you remove my leg shackles? This platform is quite high, and it's inconvenient to wear leg shackles."
"Don't joke around!"
The colonel dared not agree without authorization; this was a pirate king they had finally managed to capture.
"What? You're so boring."
Roger pursed his lips. He wasn't going to run away, at least not until he had finished saying what he wanted to say.
As Roger stepped onto the stairs leading to the execution platform, he pondered with each step how Damon would give him a drink in front of everyone.
He is still an ordinary person, not an immortal.
Even after stepping onto the execution platform, Dimon did not appear.
Roger simply plopped down on the floor, trusting that Dimon wouldn't lie to him.
Although they hadn't known each other for very long, Roger knew that Roger was a man of his word.
Looking at the audience below the stage, Roger did not deliberately look for anyone, but simply smiled.
Compared to him, the two executioners on his left and right, each holding a long spear, nervously swallowed.
"Don't be nervous, it will be over soon."
The two executioners looked somewhat embarrassed, but their duty as soldiers prevented them from communicating with the prisoner.
The audience members below the stage came from diverse backgrounds.
Reporters, pirates, gangsters, businessmen, nobles, tourists...
Those who dreamed of obtaining the One Piece were all awestruck by Roger's magnanimity.
"Captain Roger..."
Shanks looked urgently at Dimon: "Brother Dio, please help... Huh? Where is he?"
Dimon was nowhere to be seen on the box.
Shanks panicked. Did he really have to rely on him and Bucky to save the captain?
It's impossible!
"Bucky, have you seen Dio?"
Bucky, with snot and tears streaming down his face, turned his head blankly upon hearing this.
Shanks then looked at Smoker and Hawkeye.
Smoker was so focused on watching Roger that he didn't notice how the Pirate King's courage in the face of death deeply shocked his young mind.
Hawkeye shook his head: "Didn't notice..."
Dimon had already pushed his way through the crowd and reached the front.
Just as he was about to go further in, the armed naval soldiers immediately issued a warning.
"Don't go any further!"
"Not even a child like me can do that?"
Dimon tried to look young for a bit.
The soldier's lips twitched, and his tone softened: "Listen to me, don't come any closer, kid."
"Can I shout a few words then?"
"What are you going to do..."
Before the soldiers could stop him, Dimon had already shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Hey, Roger!!"
In an instant, all eyes in the room turned to him.
On the execution platform, Roger was momentarily stunned when he saw Dimon.
Does he look a little like...Dimmon's son?
Wait, that guy actually has a son!?
