12: The Icebreaker Pirates
12: The Icebreaker Pirates
"What's going on?! Where did this brat come from?!"
The pirate leader was both shocked and furious. He pointed at the Golden Dawn as he retreated, gesturing and pointing at the surrounding pirates:
"Fire! What are you afraid of! This ship is just a bit big!"
Several cannons slowly turned, aiming their muzzles at the Golden Dawn.
Oro was prepared; a large amount of gold surged from the ship's hull, quickly condensing into a huge golden triangular shield in front of the ship. The shield's surface was engraved with intersecting patterns, which could disperse the impact force.
With a few loud "bangs," the cannonballs struck the golden shield, most of them bouncing off. A few were caught by the golden ropes extending from behind the shield and then thrown back, causing the pirates to cry out in pain.
"Lingling, don't jump too fast!"
Gails called out from behind, her hand already gripping the bandage tightly, afraid that Lingling would get hurt if she rushed too fast.
Lingling, however, couldn't wait any longer.
She saw that the female giant on the island had been wounded in the leg by a stray bullet, and the old giant could only use his body to shield the children.
Lingling gathered her strength and jumped high into the air, then crashed directly onto the deck of the Icebreaker Pirates.
The moment the giant landed, the deck cracked open, and several pirates, unable to dodge in time, fell into the crevice.
Lingling glanced around, then casually grabbed a pirate and easily lifted him up.
"Who gave you permission to bully people?!"
The captured pirate trembled with fear, barely able to speak: "Y-the captain ordered us to do it..."
"Where is your captain?"
Lingling's eyes sharpened, and the hand holding the pirate trembled slightly.
The pirate quickly pointed to the cabin: "It's...it's inside..."
Lingling casually tossed the pirate aside, picked up her giant axe, and walked into the cabin. None of the dozen or so pirates around her dared to stop her.
After taking only two steps, a burly man also rushed out, carrying a giant axe.
He had a long scar on his face, running from his forehead to his chin, and his eyes were fierce: "Where did this little brat come from, daring to destroy my ship?"
"You're the captain?" Lingling gripped the giant axe tightly.
"Take your men and get out of here, or I'll smash your ship to pieces!"
"Hahaha! You? You're a laughingstock!"
Blake burst into laughter, then swung his giant axe at Lingling: "You're asking for it!"
In fact, Blake had been wanting to run away for a long time; he had already climbed halfway through the captain's cabin window.
But surprisingly, this old lady didn't start a massacre after boarding the ship.
If all the crew members of that pirate crew survived afterward and spread the word about his glorious act of running away before the battle, then he could never be a captain on the Grand Line again.
There's no other way in this world; circumstances force him to act according to circumstances.
That big, expensive-looking ship was probably not something he could afford to mess with, and he planned to let it knock him into the sea later.
Lingling didn't think that much about it. She didn't dodge or avoid it, and instead swung her axe to meet the attack.
The two giant axes clashed, producing a piercing metallic clang. Blake felt a tingling sensation in his arm, and his hand was torn apart by the immense force.
Blake was shocked. "Is this true?"
What did it eat to grow up like this? How can it be so strong?
Taking advantage of the moment, Lingling raised her leg and kicked him in the stomach. Blake was instantly sent flying, crashing into the cabin wall and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
He wasn't faking it; he didn't even have time to pretend. He was genuinely kicked so hard he vomited blood!
This girl is a monster!
"Captain!" Several loyal pirates rushed over, trying to drag Black away.
At that moment, Oro jumped onto the pirate ship, lifted his hands, and instantly all the pirates were bound by golden threads that appeared out of nowhere.
"Lingling, don't kill them. Ask them if they have any accomplices first."
Lingling nodded, then stepped on Blake's chest, her giant axe pressed against his neck: "Tell me! Do you have any other accomplices? Do you often come here to bully the giants?"
Blake was terrified and nodded hastily, "Yes, yes! We have two more ships nearby..."
"But this is our first time here! I swear! I really didn't know they were from the Giant Warrior Pirates! It's all a misunderstanding! A misunderstanding!"
Oro frowned, tied it up with gold thread, and turned to check if any fish had escaped from the boat.
Gails, carrying a medical kit, leaped onto the floating island and strode towards the two wounded giants: "I am a doctor, I can treat your wounds."
The old giant looked at her in surprise: "You...are also giants?"
"Doesn't it look like it to me?" Gails nodded with a smile and opened the medical kit.
"We all come from Elbaf and know the story of the Giant Warrior Pirates."
As she bandaged the old giant's wounds, she asked, "How did you get here?"
The old giant sighed, his eyes filled with desolation: "After the Giant Soldier Pirates split up, my eldest brother led a group of people to this sea area, hoping to find a place to settle down."
"Later, we were inexplicably attacked by sea kings, and only the people left were us, so we settled down on the floating island."
"The climate here is cold, and few ships pass by. I never expected to be targeted by the Icebreaker Pirates..."
"Would you be willing to go to Elbaf?"
Lingling's voice suddenly came from behind her. She was holding several hot meat buns, which Gaels had made earlier, and she was handing them to the three little giants next to her.
The youngest child was only about three meters tall. He looked at Lingling timidly, not daring to take the food.
Lingling smiled and stuffed the meat bun into his hand: "Eat it, it's hot, made by Gals, it's delicious."
The little giant took a bite, and his eyes lit up instantly—he had never eaten such a fragrant meat bun before, much tastier than the raw fish under the ice.
The other two little giants saw this and quickly reached out to take it, taking a bite and stuffing it into their mouths as much as they could.
"There are many giants in Elbaf, and the elders will surely accept you."
The old giant paused, looked at the female giant beside him, then at the children, his eyes reddening slightly: "Really... is it possible? We haven't seen any other giants in a long time."
"Of course!" Lingling smiled happily.
"Elbaf is the home of all giants!"
"Lingling is right."
Oro then walked over, holding a nautical chart he had found on the pirate ship: "Old man, can you sail a ship?"
"Yes! Yes! I've even taught those three little ones!" The old giant nodded hurriedly.
"That's good. The Icebreaker Pirates still have two ships nearby. After we take care of these pirates, we'll leave one ship for you to take to Elbaf."
"Elbaf isn't too far from here. The ship has an extra three-pointed star system, and I'll mark the route on this nautical chart to avoid all known dangerous waters."
Oro waved the nautical chart in his hand.
The old giant looked at the three people in front of him, and then at the magnificent Golden Dawn in the distance, his heart filled with gratitude.
He leaned on the broken spear, slowly straightening his body. Although his arm still ached, he felt a surge of strength throughout his body, and his voice trembled slightly:
"Thank you... thank you for giving us hope of going home... We... can finally go back to Elbaf..."
