Chapter 99. Thor, you are blessed, but the price is exponential pain.
Chapter 99. Thor, you are blessed, but the price is exponential pain.
Chapter 99. Thor, you are blessed, but the price is ten times the pain.
"No!!!"
A loud but tragic voice echoed in the room, even penetrating outside.
Those who heard this frowned and quickly moved away from the room, as if there was something repulsive about it.
"Glug~ Glug~ Glug~"
After finishing another bottle of beer, Thor casually tossed the bottle into the corner, where a large pile of aluminum cans had already accumulated.
He was now unshaven, covered in dust, and exuded a rotten smell and a strong stench of alcohol.
"Why? Why did you reject me?" Thor looked at his beloved hammer not far away, his tone full of sorrow, much like a young wife who had been abandoned.
He staggered over to Thor's hammer, and as usual, reached for the handle, trying to regain his approval.
But today's result was unexpected.
The hammer, which had never moved from its spot, suddenly shifted to the other side, away from Thor's beer-stained hand. It seemed to rub its eyes in disbelief, as if Thor had been struck hard by Mjolnir.
He fell backward on his knees until he hit the wall, then collapsed to the ground.
As Thor's hammer receded into the distance, he let out an even louder and more piercing wail:
"No!!!"
In the monitoring room on the other side, Natasha covered her ears in disgust and looked at her colleague beside her: "Coulson, isn't Fury going to send some professionals? I really don't know what to do with this Mr. Thor."
"These days he won't listen to anything I say, he just keeps repeating that he is Thor, the God of Thunder, the future king of the Nine Realms, and that he will lead the Nine Realms to unify the universe and so on."
"Now that I think about it, he doesn't seem like Thor at all, he seems more like a hammer god. Is it really necessary to have just one weapon?"
Coulson's expression was also rather grim. He had originally thought he could make contact with this Mr. Thor and make contact with alien civilizations, but after hundreds of attempts to lift the hammer, he was disappointed.
This Mr. Thor has completely lost his spirit; he spends all his time drinking, and if he's not allowed to drink, he causes trouble. He's hardly like a god at all.
Instead, he seems like an immature, violent big kid.
"I've already relayed the message to Commander Fury. He's currently on a secret reconnaissance mission, and I don't know if he's seen my message." Coulson waved his hand helplessly.
"Sigh..." Natasha sighed deeply. "What kind of mission could Fury possibly carry out? Is he spying on us somewhere?"
Fury's expression changed in the secret base in New Mexico. He rubbed his shiny bald head, cut off the surveillance footage, and prepared to move to another base. "Haha, look what I just heard. Our agent has become suspicious of her superior."
A loud voice accompanied by friendly laughter rang out from outside the door, and a tall man opened the door to the monitoring room, appearing before Coulson and Natasha.
"Hey, Captain Steve, what brings you here? Is this part of Fury's plan too?" Natasha exclaimed in surprise, as if she had seen a savior.
Steve gave a hearty smile: "My vacation is over, and it just so happens that this matter comes up. I think I need to help, and I also want to see what this so-called God is like."
"Oh, Captain Steve, I think this god will disappoint you, perhaps quite different from what you imagine," Natasha said meaningfully.
"Furthermore, he is difficult to communicate with."
Steve raised an eyebrow and smiled, saying, "It's okay, I have outside help."
Outside the room where Thor's hammer was sealed, Steve took a deep breath. An alien, and a god at that—this was the first time he'd ever seen one. He was actually quite excited.
The door was opened a crack, and a strong smell of alcohol hit you, along with a faint stench.
Steve frowned. It wasn't that he hadn't seen harsher environments before, but a god simply wasn't suited to such conditions.
He shook his head, but still stepped inside.
He immediately spotted a tall man slumped in the corner, buried in a beer bottle. The man was taller and stronger than himself, but his eyes looked somewhat disillusioned.
Slowly walking up to Thor, Steve knelt down: "Thor Odinson, son of Odin, the Allfather, the God of Thunder, the successor of Asgard, the future ruler of the Nine Realms, am I right, Thor?"
Ji Yuan told him all of this.
Thor slowly turned his eyes, and when he saw the tall Steve, his eyes brightened noticeably: "It seems the deeds of the gods still circulate on this remote and backward planet, and you look like a qualified warrior, at least much stronger than the previous ones."
Upon hearing the words "remote" and "backward," Steve felt a little annoyed, but still said gently, "May I ask why you came to Earth? Your sudden arrival has caused panic among many people."
"Heh." Thor gave a pathetic laugh. "I'm someone who made a mistake and was punished. The Allfather sent me to Midgard to reflect on my mistakes and learn. But what did I do wrong? I only wanted to expand Asgard's territory. I was only seeking revenge. What's wrong with that? It's the honor a warrior should have!"
"Fortunately, my arrival did not damage any mortals, after all, I am a fragile mortal now."
"Glug glug~ hiccup~" Thor finished a bottle of beer in one go and even hiccuped. He turned his head to the side, looking utterly hopeless.
Steve frowned at his unkempt appearance, his expression somewhat strange, and said, "You mean you've been starting wars and taking pride in it?"
Thor sneered, "It seems you're not as valiant as I thought, asking such a question. I am the future king, naturally destined to conquer more territories. Warriors should fight freely on the battlefield, not be exiled to this remote place!"
Thor's every word about the remoteness of Earth and his ridiculous war theories were provoking Steve's nerves. He suppressed the urge to beat the god up and said gently, "I think that what any country needs is peace, not war. Is it possible that your actions contradict your father's ideas, which is why he wants you to reflect on your mistakes?"
"Utterly laughable!" Thor said coldly. "You are as cowardly as the Allfather. If I destroy the enemy, the Nine Realms will be at peace, instead of waiting for their invasion. Strike first to minimize casualties and use war to flatten everything!"
After listening to Thor's outrageous remarks, Steve's temples throbbed, and he said with barely suppressed anger, "Have you thought about the innocent people caught in the crossfire of war? How many people will die in this war you're talking about?"
"You are the future king, you possess immense protective power, but what about everyone else? What about the other warriors? Do they deserve to die?"
Thor looked at Steve in shock and said incredulously, "Your cowardice is simply unbelievable. In Asgard, dying in battle is an honor. Only by dying in battle can the gates of Valhalla be opened! Humans, you are not only physically weak, but you also lack the conviction to sacrifice your lives."
Steve couldn't take it anymore. He stood up abruptly and asked the person in the distance in his mind, "Doctor, did you hear that? Is there any way to make this god feel the greatest pain without killing or seriously injuring him, so I can vent my anger? I really can't take it anymore."
Ji Yuan's voice instantly resonated in Steve's mind: "Just repeat after me, um—remember to be serious."
Steve's eyes lit up, and he immediately looked at Thor on the ground. His serious and booming voice echoed in the room: "Thor Odinson!"
"In the name of the God of Light, I bless you and grant you an indestructible physical body at this moment."
A blinding, pure light emanated from Steve, enveloping the entire room.
Thor glanced at Steve, looking puzzled. What did this mean? Why was it involving divine blessing?
But the next moment, his expression changed drastically.
Steve continued, "But the price is that your pain will be amplified tenfold."
Light gathered within Thor's body, and he quickly stood up and examined his entire body, finding it still to be that fragile form.
A stern smile spread across Steve's otherwise upright face: "Thor, now you will feel the pain of the innocent, the pain of the ordinary!"
boom!
Steve delivered a beautiful uppercut that sent Thor flying, accompanied by the sickening clang of teeth clashing.
The screams, like those of a pig being slaughtered, echoed throughout the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. temporary base.
Before Thor could even curse, a large hand grabbed his ankle in mid-air and slammed him to the ground with all its might.
The entire base seemed to tremble.
Thor lay on the ground, his face contorted in pain, snot streaming down his face.
"Pain! It hurts so much! It hurts so much!" That was his only feeling. It was as if his flesh and blood were being torn apart inch by inch and then scorched by flames. The pain went deep into his bones and spread to every corner.
This was a pain he had never experienced since birth; under divine protection, he had never felt anything like it.
But strangely enough, his body was completely unharmed.
Thor's voice trembled as he spoke: "An evil god! You actually worship an evil god! The great Asgard will destroy the evil god..."
"Hmm, you're right. I think I know why you were exiled, but what are you going to do about my next combo?" Steve sneered.
Thor was punched into the air, Steve's precise and swift strikes hitting every part of his body, keeping him suspended in the air like a piece of shredded cloth floating in the air.
Liver explodes, kidneys explode, testicles explode!
Thor's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, yet he was completely unharmed, only experiencing endless pain and the utter crushing of his purest self-esteem.
It must be said that Thor's will is incredibly strong. The pain of being hit by ten times the damage of the egg couldn't break his will; instead, it made him furious.
The angry words were squeezed out through clenched teeth, each uttered with a gasp: "Damn it, if—if I had a hammer, I would—show you—what Thor's wrath is!!!"
"Oh? Aren't you Thor? Why do you need a hammer? Or are you actually a hammer god?" Steve stopped attacking, letting Thor fall to the ground. Since he wouldn't get hurt, he could do whatever he wanted with him.
At the same time, he asked himself, "Doctor, this doesn't seem right. He's like a bull, staring at me like he wants to kill me. He doesn't seem to have grasped anything."
On the other side, Ji Yuan, who was instructing Peter to dodge the flash attack in the water, was also a little puzzled. Logically speaking, in such a painful situation, Thor should have reflected on his actions, but instead he became even more so.
Could it be that Thor didn't meet Jane Ford because of a plot discrepancy?
After thinking for a moment, Ji Yuan said to himself, "Hit him with his hammer."
Steve shrugged and retorted, "Didn't they say only Thor could lift it? I—"
"Hey, Captain, just do as I say. How do you know you're not Thor?"
Ji Yuan's teasing voice echoed in his mind. Although Steve was puzzled, he did as he was told and walked towards the hammer.
Thor, writhing in pain on the ground, wore a mocking expression. "A mere mortal, daring to dream—"
The next moment, a scene he had never imagined in his life appeared.
A mortal man raised Thor's hammer, lightning flashed and gathered on his body, and electricity crackled in his eyes, as if Thor himself had come to life.
Thor seemed to hear the joyous sound of Mjolnir, and his heart shattered, utterly shattered.
The next moment, a bolt of lightning as thick as a bucket appeared in the room and struck Thor's face.
Under the dual blows to his mind and body, he finally couldn't take it anymore and fainted.
Steve raises Thor's hammer high, like a god descending to earth, and the scene freezes at this moment.
