Chapter 14: It was you, kid, who stuck my son to the ceiling?
"You, you're not a Mudblood, whose little wizard are you? I advise you not to be impulsive, my surname is Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, we might even be related!"
Malfoy, seeing this bizarre magic he had never seen before, immediately concluded that Kane was a descendant of some mysterious magical family. Seeing Kane's obviously ill intentions, he quickly tried to explain.
"I'm sorry, but most of my relatives are probably dead." Kane said, waving his hand at Malfoy. "Keep your eyes open when you're looking for trouble in the future."
The next moment, Malfoy was swiftly grabbed by the shadow claws and lifted up, like a defeated man, firmly bound to the ceiling by the shadows.
"Let's go somewhere else. I'm afraid Mr. Malfoy might spit on my ice cream from the ceiling," Kane said, picking up his ice cream bowl and preparing to leave the stall.
Of course, the truth wasn't such a ridiculous reason. It was Maxwell who suddenly reminded him that an adult who looked remarkably like Draco Malfoy was walking quickly toward them.
Seeing this, Harry and Ron also picked up their ice creams and moved to another spot. After all, having someone constantly crying and shouting on the ceiling watching them was indeed a bit disgusting.
Harry and Ron didn't realize what had just happened until they left the ice cream stand.
Ron looked at Kane and then at Harry. He was starting to understand why Harry was so willing to spend money on Kane. With such a powerful friend by his side, what was wrong with spending a little money? If it were him, he would be willing to spend money too, if he had the money himself.
Harry, meanwhile, continued to listen to the wails coming from the ice cream shop not far away: "Um, thank you for showing mercy when we were in that alley. You were willing to escort me out of the alley before running away yourself, instead of just letting me sleep in the alley with a trash can all night."
Kane, who was eating ice cream, glanced at Harry and said, "What are you talking about? I'm not some kind of ungrateful madman."
Ron was shocked to hear Kane and Harry talking. So Kane, who could take down Malfoy without even moving, had once been chased by Harry? No wonder he was a baby who could kill Voldemort. That's awesome.
If Kane and Harry heard Ron's thoughts, they would definitely think that the kid had some serious illness, and what kind of bizarre understanding ability he had.
Just as the three of them were sitting on the side of the road, reading their books and eating ice cream, two figures came rushing towards them, one fast and one slow. One of them was the giant Malfoy that Maxwell had mentioned, probably the boy's father who was crying in the ceiling inside.
Behind them was Hagrid carrying three cages.
Although it was true that buying Ron a pet when both his parents were alive was a slap in the face to the Weasleys, the thought of buying pets for Kane and Harry, only to have Ron watching enviously from the sidelines...
That's so pitiful. Hagrid is kind-hearted and can't bear to see those things.
"This is a surprise for the three of you!" Hagrid placed three birdcages in front of them. "I bought you three little messengers who can deliver messages. Choose one; it's a surprise, so I didn't tell you beforehand!"
"I have one too?" Ron said, somewhat surprised.
"Of course, this is what I bought for you, not Hogwarts. Don't worry about those so-called rules." Hagrid thumped his chest loudly.
"You guys choose first, I can go last." Kane took a step back awkwardly. If he had known that Hagrid's sneaky departure was about this, he definitely wouldn't have let Hagrid buy it for him.
To be honest, he had exhausted all his energy raising himself to be healthy and normal, so he really didn't have the energy to raise a... bird.
However, it was Hagrid's kind gesture after all, so he decided to accept it. In any case, he would most likely be sharing a dorm room with Harry, so he could just let Hagrid take care of his pet.
Soon, Harry and Ron had chosen their pets: Harry got a pure white snowy owl, Ron got a grey magpie, and the last one was a pure black raven.
"Hmm, how about me? Do we match in terms of style?" Kane asked Harry and Ron, carrying the raven's cage.
"They look good together; the combined appearance of the person and the bird makes them look like they won't live past the end of the month," Harry commented reservedly.
"You'd better shut up, Ron. Tell me what's going on." Kane looked at Ron again.
"He's a bit like an evil dark wizard who eats children."
"..." Just as Kane was carrying the cage and helplessly dealing with two purebred contestant foul-mouthed guys, a deep voice sounded from behind him.
"Was this the young man who stuck my son to the ceiling?"
Kane turned around, and sure enough, there was the same blond hair and the same demeanor as Draco in the ice cream shop.
Hagrid looked at Lucius Malfoy, who had suddenly found Kane, with some confusion. Harry and Ron immediately gave him a full explanation.
Having learned the whole story, Hagrid immediately stood in front of Kane: "Malfoy, you wouldn't want to attack a mere wizard in front of me, would you?"
Lucius had also heard Harry and Ron's cacophony of explanations and felt somewhat helpless that Draco never told his father the whole truth. Now, he was the one who had caused the trouble and he had to clean up Draco's mess.
"Don't misunderstand Hagrid. I'm just apologizing to this young gentleman on behalf of my immature son. My name is Lucius Malfoy, and the figure on the ceiling is my son, Draco Malfoy. I apologize for his rudeness just now."
Draco Malfoy's apology could be considered sincere, but Kane, seeing the gloved hand extended towards him, ultimately did not shake it, only uttering his name: "Kane Heath, an orphan."
Lucius Malfoy frowned, as if pondering the origin of the surname Heath, but ultimately still had no clue.
This is normal, because because of Voldemort, too many pure-blood and half-blood wizards left the wizarding world and began to waste their lives in Muggle orphanages at a young age. After all, that kind of strange shadow magic is definitely not something a Muggle wizard can use.
It must be a wizarding family with strange and unique methods, and magical talent passed down through bloodlines. After all, Kane, as an orphan, had nowhere to learn magic, so bloodline inheritance was the only reason.
"It seems you're not too keen on accepting my apology," Lucius said, pondering Kane's possible origins.
"Perhaps you could have your son come and apologize to me," Kane said, and Harry and Ron behind him chuckled.
Lucius Malfoy, without batting an eye, replied, "He's still on the ceiling."
Kane understood; all that going through all that trouble was to get him to let Draco go.
"Go and get him a mat," he said, getting straight to the point.
Upon hearing this, Lucius immediately waved his wand, and the ice cream shop floor became as soft and bouncy as jelly.
Immediately afterward, the shadow that was holding Draco Malfoy dissipated in an instant, and he himself fell to the floor and bounced twice.
"Now that your son is down, we're leaving." Hagrid said, seeing that everything was done, and prepared to leave with Kane and the other two, since he felt uneasy whenever he saw Lucius Malfoy.
"I'll help you find out about your family in the wizarding world. You're definitely not a Muggle," Lucius said to Kane's retreating figure, completely ignoring Hagrid.
Kane shrugged indifferently. Using his magic to inquire about his family? The chances of finding out about the Eternal Realm were much higher.
As for now, he'd rather see how far Ollivander's wand customization has progressed.
Lucius watched Kane and his companions leave as they headed towards Ollivander's wand shop. Suddenly, he sensed something and looked at Draco: "Any questions you have?"
