From Gamma to Luna

Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Erika's POV

I put down the meal box in front of the office door, turned around, and left the office room.

I rushed back to the parking lot of the pack house and got in a random car. Since he lied to me, I wouldn't tell him where I went.

Honestly, I didn't know where to go. I'm just so angry right now and I need to get my feelings out.

But I knew where to go soon.

I could go to the Lumiere Pack. Alex had told me earlier it was my home and I could go back whenever I wanted. Now I was going back.

The windows in the car were open. I was driving fast. The wind blew in, right in my face.

I was about to drive to the border and by that time I had calmed down. Derek must be in trouble and didn’t want me to worry about it. That was the only plausible explanation. I believed that he wouldn’t do anything against me.

But I hated it when he kept it from me. I thought that we were an old couple and he shouldn’t keep it from me.

On second thought, I'd better go back. After all, I hadn't found out what he was doing.

I didn't turn around and went back the way I came, instead, just went straight on. What I wanted to do was go around the pack and then go back.

As I was driving, I was looking at the scenery along the road. It was almost midnight and not many people were around.

Suddenly, I noticed a building ahead of me. Among the dark rooms, only one room was lit. That was weird because it was not in the residential area. Who was still working this late?

It immediately occurred to me that Derek was still busy at this time. He hadn’t come back to the bedroom because he must have been trying to connect me if he had discovered that I was gone.

I drove toward the building without hesitation and stopped in the parking lot. Derek, I'm coming. I'm going to find out if you are really busy with some sort of pack affairs.

I went out of the car, summoned a pair of iron claws, and began to climb the wall. They would find me soon, so I had no time to go upstairs and I just took the shortcut.

On the third floor, I clung to the wall and stole a glance.

To my surprise, there were five people in the room, four of them in white clothes. I immediately saw Derek sitting in the middle, the only one wearing a suit. They were discussing.

Derek looked up and around and I quickly hid behind the wall. I took a deep breath and was almost seen by him.

Why didn't Derek sit in his office in the middle of the night? Why did he come all the way out here to have a meeting with a group of people who looked like doctors?

Suddenly, a terrible thought flashed through my mind.

Could it be possible that he was ill? He was so ill that he didn’t want me to know it.

After all, he should've taken a rest after Baron and Richard were both dead, but he didn't. It seemed that something still weighed on his mind.

"As recorded in Baron's diary, he had developed this kind of poison a long time ago. We found three notebooks in the safe in his house. In the notebooks, he presented a very detailed introduction to every poison that he had developed. However, two pages were missing. I guess it is about the poison that…"

The man sitting next to Derek began to report.

I only heard the first half of his speech. I couldn't understand the rest of the speech although I heard it.

My heart sank at the mention of "Baron".

Did Baron … use poison on Derek?

How was that possible and when did it happen?

Before the interrogation, we had made sure that he didn't bring any poison with him. How did he do it? If he really found a chance to poison Derek, he must use the most horrid one.

I climbed down the wall while thinking about it. Worried about Derek, cold sweats burst out on my back. All my limbs felt weak.

As I got down to the ground, I was still distracted, and I didn't land on the ground safely. I made a noise and let out a cry.

I was not sure if Derek noticed it. He had good hearing, too.

Whatever, I rushed to my car and drove away as quickly as I could.

He didn't want me to know that he was poisoned, I could pretend that I didn't know it.

When I went back to the pack house, it was already after midnight. Derek would come back soon.

I lay on the bed motionless, pretending that I was sound asleep. Of course, I couldn't fall asleep.

Derek opened the door and came back. He lay beside me quietly and kissed me on my forehead.

The kiss filled me with guilt. What did I do this night? I didn't believe him and insisted on finding out what he was doing. Wait, where was my salad?
