Chapter 75
Chapter 75
Erika’s POV
By this time, Alex had led Baron away through the door of the room. Derek and I looked at each other and then went after him together.
Of course, it was just an act. After chasing them for a while, Alex used his gift, turned around, and was gone.
Derek and I stopped to check on Kent's progress. When we went to get revenge, Kent was in charge of getting the place where Baron lived under control, and then Baron had nowhere to go.
The plan was that after Alex rescued Baron, he would take him somewhere and see if he could get a word out of Baron. For all we know, Baron probably knew more than we thought. The best thing would be for him to think that Alex was still with him. With the help of Steven, he might tell us something.
It was up to Alex how much he could say, and if necessary Derek would have Steven hypnotize him straight away.
Twenty minutes later, I arrived at the gates of the Fly Rock Pack. The gate was guarded by a lot of soldiers, so we didn't go in. We just watched from the outside.
The members of the pack were all going about their business as usual. They still didn't know what happened.
Suddenly, in a flash, someone learned that their Alpha has died, showed panic, and shared the news with those around them.
Within moments, the pack, which had been calm and orderly, was in chaos.
Some people froze, as if unable to accept the fact.
Some could no longer conceal their joy and hugged those around them.
Others panicked, fearing the same thing would happen to them.
Soon James led the fighters out to maintain order. According to the rules, now that Richard had died, and if no one came to challenge James, he would be the next Alpha.
James ordered the people to go to the pack house and wait. In thirty minutes, an announcement would be made.
As the members rushed to the pack house, James went to the door.
We had agreed earlier in the afternoon that as soon as he got the news, he would go to the door and wait for us.
"Congratulations!" I typed it on my phone and showed it to James.
James smiled bitterly.
I knew probably he wasn’t that happy about being alpha. I wasn’t very happy about killing Richard, either.
James then added, "Erika, thank you. The Fly Rock Pack will never be against you again. You can always come back and visit us."
The next morning.
The interrogation began. To be more precise, it had begun once Baron believed that he had arrived in the Lumiere Pack, while the truth was that he was in our pack, right in the room where Hugh was once hypnotized.
Of course, Alex and Steven did a little trick and gave Baron the illusion, which he deeply believed. After all, Baron had nobody else to rely on.
Derek, Steven, and I sat in the monitoring room and waited to say what would happen. Steven seemed very excited.
“Did you do something to him?” Derek asked.
“Of course.” Steven’s eyes shone.
“Alex, thank you for accommodating me. But I’m not part of the pack anymore. It’s time for me to leave,” Baron said while flashing his eyes. He stood up trembling and tried to walk out . We hadn't hurt him yesterday. He fell and sprained his leg himself while running away.
"Why do you want to leave? Baron, even if you don't belong to my pack, you'll always be my friend. Besides, where else would you go if you didn't stay here? Your home and the laboratory are under control." Alex advised. I hadn't expected Alex to be such a good actor. He must hate Baron's guts, but he didn't show it.
"Alex, I really appreciate this. But I..." Baron tried to continue, but Alex cut him off.
"That's enough, stop being polite to me. If you want to leave, at least you'll have to wait until your leg completely recovers. But I can't understand why you're in such a hurry to leave. Did something happen last night?" Alex asked.
"Nothing, it's just been a long time since left and I'm not used to it." Baron ducked his head to avoid Alex's eyes.
"Good, then get some rest. I have some business to take care of. Remember, don't leave this room yet, the other members of the pack don't know that I've brought you back." With that, Alex walked to the door.
"Wait." Baron hurriedly stopped Alex.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked.
"Last night..." Baron trailed off.
"What happened last night?"
"I... I saw Lucy." Baron said.
"What? How is that possible? "Alex's face changed.
"Alex, I didn't mean to bring it up. I just felt a little guilty."
"Guilty?" Alex asked suspiciously. Derek and I also exchanged glances.
"If it wasn't for me, she probably wouldn't have had to leave the pack and wouldn't have died during child birth," Baron said.
Alex patted Baron on the back and said, "You're overthinking this, what does Lucy's death have to do with you?"
"You don't understand, she hates me. She thinks that I killed her and her daughter." Baron suddenly became emotional. Ignoring his injured foot, he jumped up from his chair and walked around.
When I heard this, I gritted my teeth in anger. Baron must have done it! That's why he acted so weirdly!
I calmed down when Derek took my hand and looked at me.
"Were you scared yesterday? Women can die during child birth. It happens. What are you babbling about?" Alex raised his voice.
