Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Erika's POV
I fell into a deep sleep and it was at four o’clock in the morning when I woke up. My body hadn’t gotten used to life not being the Gamma. Because of years of rogue hunting, I couldn’t fall asleep anymore. So I stared at the ceiling blankly.
A lot was going on in my heart at the thought that my life had changed so much in just a few days. In the former pack, I spent most of my time in the training ground. But now, I didn’t even know where their training ground was.
I closed my eyes and thought about what to do next. I couldn't summon weapons and I couldn't escape for now. I had failed several times. I might go crazy if I ever went through another swing from ecstasy to despair. This time, I needed to be super patient and made him believe that I wouldn’t escape anymore.
My phone vibrated. It was a message.
"Erika, Are you awake now? How is it going? I’m about to start my first rogue-hunting. I wonder if I can get any advice from you. Charles announced that I was the new Gamma. James became the new Beta after the challenge."
I checked the name. It was Orsen. Derek bought me a new iPhone, but I still used the old one because I didn’t want a complete break from the past. I still had their contacts in my phone although I didn’t think I would contact them anymore. To my surprise, Orsen contacted me.
I turned around and faced Derek. He seemed fast asleep. I knew that mate bond could make a difference to our relationship in that he would be able to read my emotions. I was not sure how much he could know about my mind. So to be safe, I blocked him from my mind and didn’t let him know that my former pack member contacted me.
I moved my fingers and was surprised to find that my hands felt much better. They healed faster than I thought.
"I brought nothing because I got my weapons. But you have to bring the weapon that you are best at. Don’t go deep into the forest by yourself because rogues concentrate on the south of the forest. When you meet more than one wolf, run as fast as you can. You are not strong enough to deal with them." I texted Orsen.
"Thank you, Erika. By the way, how do you like your life in the Blood Moon Pack?" he replied immediately.
I was not sure what he meant. We were not close friends. And the Blood Moon Pack and the Fly Rock Pack were allies. He was in no position to help me escape if I told him the truth. Wasn’t he afraid that Derek might be mad at him if he knew it?
Not bad. I replied after consideration. I decided that he was not the right choice to confide in.
He didn’t reply until after a long time.
"I felt very guilty for not doing anything when they got you that day. If you need any help, don’t hesitate to tell me. I’ll try my best."
My eyes widened at his words. Did he mean that he was willing to help me escape? Could I believe in him?
After thinking for a minute, I decided to be cautious. I thanked him and I didn’t mention the escape plan.
He didn’t send me messages anymore. But his words made me too excited to fall asleep. I had been fighting all alone and my efforts were all in vain. It would be much easier if I got help from someone else.
When Derek woke up, I already sat up for a while. I was surprised to find that I felt much better, especially my palms. They were still tender but I could live with the pain. My Goddess, my body was healing at a speed faster than I thought. But I didn’t want Derek to know it so I still waited for him to help me wear my clothes.
Derek seemed quite surprised seeing me awake. "You are not Gamma anymore. You don’t need to get up so early. Why not sleep for more time?" He asked as he rubbed his sleepy eyes.
Damn it. If only he could sleep forever and never wake up. He ruined my good mood in a few words.
Can you please not remind me of it? I mind-linked him and rolled my eyes.
"Erika, I don’t care how good a fighter you were in the past. Can you please be more realistic? We are meant to be together. It’s good for both of us if you accept the reality instead of fighting me!" He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and forced me to look him in the eye.
That is so unfair! I suddenly had an emotional breakdown and kicked him hard.
He pushed me to the bed and threw my clothes over my head. It suddenly went all dark and I couldn’t see anything. I raised my hands and kicked my legs randomly in the air although they all hurt badly. But I didn't care.
"Stop this madness or I’ll mark you." He threatened fiercely.
His words calmed me down. I stopped kicking and lay on the bed motionless. The more times he marked me, the stronger the mate bond would become, and the more painful it would be when I left the pack.
Then my breath accelerated and became audible. That was how a mute person cried.
He also noticed it and removed the clothes from my head. He seemed quite guilty seeing tears on my face. He held me in his hands and whispered, "Don’t cry, mate. As long as you submit, I’ll be good to you. I’ll protect you from any harm. As the Luna, you’ll have my love and respect from every member of my pack. But can you meet me halfway?" He patted my back to comfort me.
OK. I mind-linked him after a long time.
He looked very surprised that I really answered him. He kissed me on the forehead excitedly and then he got up to get our clothes.
I looked at his back and smiled. This time, I would be very patient.
