Chapter 145: Returning To Cardiff

Chapter 145: Returning To Cardiff

The more Valentine Anderson stared intently at his phone screen, the tighter his grip on the device became. The DNA test analysis at the end revealed he shared only 25% of his DNA with Pete, indicating that he was Pete's uncle rather than his father.

"Impossible!" he bellowed, startling Housekeeper Win, whose pen slipped and drew a line across the paper she was writing on.

Smoke seemed to billow from Valentine's ears as the vein on his forehead bulged with anger. He shoved the phone into his pocket, yanked off his apron, and stormed out of the kitchen, his expression dark.

Housekeeper Win was so frightened that she opened her mouth several times to ask what was wrong but couldn't utter a word. Anxious and afraid he might head to Pete or Andrea's room to hurt one of them, she quickly followed him.

But her fears were unfounded. Valentine Anderson walked out of the house, got into his car, and drove away from the Singer Mansion into the dark night.

Relieved but curious, Housekeeper Win turned to report to Andrea, who was just descending the staircase. "Ma'am Andrea, I don't know what happened to Sir Valentine. He was so angry that I was scared to ask what was wrong. He just drove out of the mansion."

Andrea was surprised to hear that Valentine had left without telling anyone, especially after they had just reconciled with their son.

Furrowing her eyebrows, she asked Housekeeper Win, "What exactly happened?"

Housekeeper Win quickly recounted the events in the kitchen. Andrea's furrow deepened as she wondered what kind of message could have made Valentine so angry that he left the mansion in such a hurry.

She frowned as she dialed Valentine's number. It rang three times without an answer before he turned his phone off.

Feeling increasingly uneasy, Andrea quickly dialed Tony's number. Tony's voice came through the speaker as he answered, "Andrea, if this is about looking for Lucas, I'm not going to waste my time searching for an adult who can take care of himself..."

"Tony, can you at least listen to me before jumping to conclusions?" Andrea interjected, exasperated.

Tony fell silent for a few seconds before speaking again. "Then what are you calling me for?"

"Val just drove out of the mansion looking furious. I need to know where he's heading," Andrea requested.

"Give me a few minutes," Tony said before Andrea hung up.

She turned to Housekeeper Win and gestured for her to continue with her duties, then headed back to her bedroom.

While Andrea was applying her facial mask, her phone began to ring. She glanced at the screen and saw it was a call from Tony. Stretching her arm, she picked up the phone and answered.

Tony's voice came through, raised and anxious. "Andrea, did you send Valentine away?"

Andrea's face creased with confusion. "What are you talking about? Can you speak properly?"

Pressing her forehead in frustration, she listened as Tony continued. "Andrea, Valentine is driving to the airport. I've already called the airport, and he's booked a flight to Cardiff. If you didn't send him away, why is he going to Cardiff?"

Andrea fell silent, pondering why Valentine Anderson was hurriedly heading to Cardiff without informing her or anyone else.

"Andrea, can you tell me what’s going on?" Tony's exasperated voice came through the phone when he didn't hear Andrea's response for two whole minutes.

"I don't know either," Andrea replied angrily. "We just made up. We had a nice chat and a big family dinner, and he even insisted on washing the dishes. Then he got a message on his phone and suddenly drove out of the mansion without a word."

Tony fell silent on the other end, guessing that Valentine must have received a message that prompted his sudden departure for Cardiff.

"Andrea, do you want me to send someone to investigate in Cardiff?" Tony asked tentatively.

"No need. It’s better if he doesn’t return," Andrea retorted angrily. Did Valentine think she would tolerate him running off to his mistress, Margaret Willow? She had a temper too!

She angrily hung up the call and then went to bed.

The arms of the clock rotated until the dark clouds dispersed and the entire city of Vegas was illuminated by the sun.

Pete's cheerful voice came from behind the door. When Andrea opened her eyes, she saw Pete standing there with a smile. "Good morning, Mommy! Good morning, Daddy!"

Andrea's heart sank, realizing that Pete didn't know Valentine had left the house the previous night.

She forced a smile. "Morning, Pete. Come here and give Mommy a good morning kiss."

Pete joyfully skipped over and planted a smacking kiss on Andrea's face, bringing a smile to her lips and dissipating some of her anger over Valentine's disappearance.

Looking around, Pete asked curiously, "Mom, where’s Daddy?"

Andrea awkwardly lied, "Oh, he’s having his shower. Quickly, go and take your bath so you won’t be late for school."

"Okay, Mommy," Pete responded happily and ran off to take his bath.

Andrea's face became gloomy after Pete left. Although she had lied to him, Pete was a smart kid and would soon notice his father's absence.

She quickly got ready for work. After having breakfast with Pete, she suddenly heard him asking, looking sad and pouting, "Mrs. Win, didn’t you say that Daddy would take me to school today?"

Housekeeper Win looked at Andrea, conflicted. Andrea immediately chimed in, "I will take you to school, Pete."

Pete nodded, though still looking a bit disappointed. Andrea sighed, bracing herself for the difficult conversation that would inevitably follow.

That moment, Valentine Anderson stepped out of the taxi upon arriving at Margret Willow's mansion. After settling the fare with the driver, he gazed somberly toward the mansion gate.
