Chapter 51: 5 Years Conspiracy
Chapter 51: 5 Years Conspiracy
Valentine Anderson hung his head in shame, his eyes brimming with tears as he looked up. Meanwhile, Andrea's annoyance was palpable as she let out a dissatisfied snort before making her way up the staircase. The sight of Valentine crying only added to her exasperation.
After Andrea departed, Valentine retrieved his phone and headed to the balcony. For years, he had avoided facing the truth about his potential impotency. Now, he felt it was time to confront the issue head-on and finally confirm his condition.
With a deep breath, he dialed a number. A voice promptly emanated from the phone's speaker, "President Valentine Anderson."
"Mark, I need you to investigate the incident from five years ago and look into the hospital," Valentine instructed over the phone.
"Consider it done, President Valentine," came the swift agreement from the other end of the line.
After receiving confirmation that the matter would be investigated, he ended the call and dialed another number. A cheerful voice greeted him from the phone's speaker, "Brother."
A smile lit up Valentine Anderson's face as he responded, "Brother, how's life as the chairman of Val. Corp?"
The voice on the other end exuded joy, "Great! Everyone thinks I'm you. It feels amazing to be admired and respected as the Chairman."
Valentine chuckled as he listened, and when the speaker finished speaking, he spoke up, "Always keep me informed of your whereabouts. I don't want any unexpected encounters when I'm with Andrea Singers."
"Brother, when will you bring sister-in-law home for me to meet her?" the voice asked eagerly.
Valentine's expression darkened. He couldn't predict when Andrea would forgive him. His grip on the phone tightened as he spoke with determination, "Soon."
After a brief conversation, Valentine Anderson ended the call and made his way to the staff room on the first floor of the mansion.
As he stepped into the room, his phone suddenly began to ring. Seeing that it was Mark calling, he was taken aback but quickly answered, "Mark, why are you calling?"
"President Valentine, the impotency test results were all fabricated as part of a conspiracy orchestrated by the late Mr. Singers. He instructed all the hospitals to falsify the results. I just got off the phone with my doctor friend who used to work at the hospital where you were admitted a few years ago," Mark's voice rushed out the revelations in a single breath.
A mix of emotions played across Valentine Anderson's face. Visiting three hospitals five years ago had all yielded the same result, leading him to believe he was impotent. Little did he know that this was all orchestrated by his deceased father-in-law, who sought to avenge his daughter's suffering.
Valentine Anderson found himself torn between anger and elation.
"President Valentine, are you there?" Mark's voice crackled through the phone.
"I'll be heading to the hospital," Valentine Anderson eventually replied, a long pause preceding his response.
Mark grasped the uncertainty underlying Valentine Anderson's need for confirmation. If he were in Valentine's shoes, he would likely harbor doubts about his own virility after undergoing a battery of tests all yielding the same disheartening result.
"I'll handle the arrangements. Is there anything else you need me to do?" Mark asked cautiously.
"Just wait for me," Valentine Anderson concluded the call, swiftly changing before departing the Singer mansion in his car.
Arriving at the hospital, he parked in the lot to find Mark already waiting for him.
"President Valentine," Mark greeted as he approached Valentine Anderson.
Valentine Anderson and Mark entered the hospital, bypassing the laboratory to meet the doctor Mark had recommended.
"President Valentine," the doctor greeted, rising to his feet as Mark led them in.
Valentine extended his hand for a handshake, and the doctor accepted with a beaming smile. "How would you like me to address you?" Valentine inquired.
"I'm Doctor Cole," the doctor responded cheerfully.
Valentine nodded and took a seat, with Mark standing close behind him.
"President Valentine, upon Mark's request, I delved into your medical records here at the hospital and uncovered that you were actually blacklisted. Furthermore, there's been a red flag attached to your name for the past five years. Upon further investigation, I unearthed this..." Doctor Cole paused, producing a voice recording and hitting play.
A voice emanated from the tape, unmistakably Tony's, declaring, "Mr. Singers will be indebted to you all if you follow through with this directive."
"We shall proceed as instructed. Convey to Mr. Singers our anticipation of his financial support and his assurance of engaging with the minister of health," another voice replied. Despite the apparent presence of only two speakers, Valentine Anderson could discern from the background clamor that numerous individuals were in attendance.
"President Valentine Anderson, having been deceived for countless years, you have come to believe falsely that you are impotent. However, I assert that you are not. Should you desire a physical examination and hormone test to validate this claim, I am prepared to conduct it," Doctor Cole proclaimed.
Valentine Anderson's emotions were complex. Rather than harboring anger towards his late father-in-law for imposing a five-year celibacy on him, he found himself experiencing a sense of contentment. He realized that had it not been for this seemingly drastic measure taken by his father-in-law, he might have ended up settling for a mediocre life with Rose.
"I have made my decision. Proceed with the test for confirmation," Valentine Anderson declared resolutely.
Doctor Cole, anticipating this resolve, simply nodded in understanding. "Follow me," he instructed, leading the trio from his office to the laboratory. After collecting test samples from Valentine Anderson, Doctor Cole indicated for him to await the results.
