Chapter 20: What Will Make You Leave Him?

Chapter 20: What Will Make You Leave Him?

After discarding his gloves, Mr. Singers nonchalantly tossed the gun to one of his subordinates before briskly turning to depart.

"Mr. Singers, he's a member of the watchdog gang," Tony promptly informed.

"Eliminate the gang from Sunshine City," Mr. Singers ordered before slipping into his car.

Driving away from the warehouse, he made a pit stop at a flower shop on the bustling street, parking his car nearby and stepping inside.

"What kind of flowers are you looking for?" the florist inquired as Mr. Singers approached the counter.

Inexperienced in matters of flowers, Mr. Singers had never bought any before, not even for his deceased wife whom he couldn't afford to then.

"She's in the hospital. What flowers are best for wishing someone a speedy recovery?" Mr. Singers asked.

Observing Mr. Singers closely, the florist shook his head, sensing a lack of effort in Mr. Singers' marital relationship.

"Sir, it's important to buy her flowers regularly to make her feel happy and maintain her well-being, not just when she's unwell or something happens," the florist advised earnestly.

Mr. Singers nodded thoughtfully, taking the florist's words to heart.

"Thank you," Mr. Singers replied.

"Lilies are perfect for a patient; I'll prepare them for you, sir," the florist said with a happy smile.

Stepping away from the counter, he arranged the lilies, surprised to see Mr. Singers purchasing an abundance of them, nearly emptying the entire store.

Shaking his head in disbelief, he pondered the ways of the wealthy.

Upon returning to the hospital, Agatha was already there.

When she caught sight of Mr. Singers bearing flowers, her expression soured. Never before had she received a gift from him, despite working alongside him for the past twenty-five years. Though she clenched her fists in secret frustration, she managed to keep her discontent hidden behind a neutral facade. "Mr. Singers, the Gibsons and the other families who wronged you have brought their daughters to offer apologies," Agatha approached him and relayed the message.

Mr. Singers, with an impatient tone, continued his stride toward Andrea's ward without halting. "They wronged Andrea; they should be apologizing to her," he stated firmly.

Agatha seethed as she watched Mr. Singers disappear into Andrea's room, leaving her behind in the hospital corridor, her anger palpable.

Turning around, she spotted Tony leaning against the wall, a lit cigarette in hand. "Smoking in the hospital," Agatha remarked through gritted teeth. She believed that Mr. Singers and Tony had been acting recklessly ever since their return from Vegas.

Extinguishing the cigarette, Tony retorted, "I can't help it."

Agatha composed herself with a deep breath, then approached Tony, standing directly in front of him. "Do you believe Mr. Singers is making the right decision by marrying her? Since his return, our company's operations have ground to a halt. He no longer takes his work seriously; instead, he acts like her caretaker all the time."

Tony's lips curved into a smile; he had feelings for Agatha, but she had her sights set on Mr. Singers and turned him down.

"Are you upset because he didn't choose you?" Tony teased.

"What?" Agatha's eyes widened in surprise, caught off guard by Tony's unexpected words as they discussed Andrea and Mr. Singers.

"I know how it feels. I felt the same way when you rejected me. Sometimes, we have to get used to feeling unwanted," Tony remarked before walking away.

Agatha watched him leave, her mind reeling with confusion and shock. She then stamped her foot in frustration, feeling overwhelmed by the actions of these two men in her life.

"Remember to breathe, just breathe," Agatha repeated to herself, taking a moment to compose her emotions.

After leaving the hospital, she made calls on her phone while walking, then settled into her car to wait for Mr. Singers to emerge.

Despite waiting for two hours, Mr. Singers did not appear. Frustrated and disappointed, Agatha accelerated out of the hospital, narrowly avoiding hitting a pedestrian crossing the road in the dark of night.

As the night faded into dawn, sunlight streamed through the automated blinds in the hospital ward, illuminating Andrea lying in her bed.

Andrea woke to see Mr. Singers' exhausted face and dark circles under his eyes.

"Good morning, my dear," Mr. Singers greeted her, planting a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"You didn't sleep all night?" she asked, astonished by his unwavering dedication and care for her.

She had never before experienced such a level of care. When she fell ill, Valentine had simply bought medication and left her at the hospital, continuing with his daily routine.

"How are you feeling?" Mr. Singers didn't directly respond to her query; instead, he asked about her well-being.

"I'm feeling good," Andrea replied.

Mr. Singers nodded, then got up and exited the ward. Just as he left, Agatha entered. She had come to discuss Mr. Singers' schedule but found only Andrea there.

Agatha fixed her gaze on Andrea. Apart from two previous encounters, they had never conversed, and Agatha's expression made it clear that she harboured some dislike towards Andrea.

"Andrea!" Agatha called out slowly, her eyes locked on Andrea.

Andrea tensed up, answering in a barely audible voice, almost a whisper, "Yes?"

"What will make you leave Mr. Singers?" Agatha asked with a frustrated expression.

Andrea was taken aback as Agatha's words sank in. She never expected someone to try to buy her out of her marriage. Without a word, Agatha continued, her tone intense.

"Three million, five hundred, a billion... name your price. I want you to leave Mr. Singers. You're not only disrupting his work, but you're also affecting his health. He hasn't eaten since yesterday and stayed up all night worrying about you."

As Agatha's words weighed heavily on Andrea, a wave of guilt washed over her. She wasn't aware of these, and now she understood Agatha's concern.

"So, how much will it take for you to walk away?" Agatha pressed, now standing closely in front of Andrea.
