Chapter 589: She’s Mine
Chapter 589: She’s Mine
A faint sob slipped out as she turned and ran before he could say a word.
Blake was still fixing his sleeve when he looked up, but she was already gone.
The sudden noise snapped Blake out of his thoughts. Applause rang out from the floor above.
Ashley came down the stairs, grinning. “What a dramatic moment. She’s really in love with you.”
Blake looked at her and asked flatly, “Is that a problem?”
“I just hope you can keep the act going. Don’t let her find out what’s really going on,” Ashley warned him.
Blake’s expression turned cold. “Ashley Evans, stay in your lane. Don’t mess this up.”
Ashley blinked at his tone, then smirked. “Calm down. The real show’s just beginning.”
At the Lawson Hotel in Edenfield, the Universal Pictures business party kicked off as planned.
Along with agencies and artists, some media people were also invited. The event wasn’t open to the public, but it was streamed live.
Luxury cars arrived one after another. Wealthy business owners stepped out and walked down the red carpet.
Then Bianca showed up, holding Dave’s arm as they stood on the red carpet.
Dave wore a black suit, his hair neatly slicked back. He had the commanding presence of a CEO.
Bianca wore high heels and a purple dress, looking elegant and graceful.
As soon as she and Dave appeared, media outlets turned their cameras toward them. The CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group and the head of Emerald Artists Agency had everyone’s attention.
The livestream’s comment section lit up right away.
“I didn’t think the rumors were true. Looks like Phoenix Entertainment and Emerald Artists Agency really are merging.”
“Yeah! I even heard the Phoenix Alliance Group CEO is going to marry the Emerald CEO. Are they going to announce it today?”
“Wow. I didn’t expect the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group to be this handsome. They’re a perfect match.”
“You’re right. They really do look good together!”
After breaking off her engagement with Blake and having an honest conversation with him, Bianca stopped hiding the truth. Dave was even free to make their relationship public.
So today, Bianca didn’t just attend as the CEO of Emerald Artists Agency, she also came as Dave’s date.
They held hands as they walked, talking and laughing together. They looked genuinely happy.
But for Blake, watching from a distance, the sight felt like a thorn in his eyes. He clenched his fists so tightly that the veins on his hands popped out.
Just then, at the entrance of the red carpet, Reese arrived. The moment she stepped out of the car, cameras and flashes instantly turned to her.
It wasn’t surprising. She was the most popular female artist at the moment. Every media outlet was eager to capture her, knowing how much attention her photos and videos would bring.
As expected, the livestream’s comment section exploded.
“Ah! My goddess! Reese is so beautiful, absolutely stunning!”
“Yes! I love Reese! How can someone be this gorgeous? Her outfit is absolutely perfect today!”
“Oh my God! Did you see that? She’s wearing Azure Star earrings! Those are worth a million!”
“Azure Star? Of course. Only the best for my Reese!”
“What do you mean, your Reese? She’s mine!”
While fans online went wild arguing over her, Reese calmly waved at the cameras. She had no idea that just showing up had already caused a frenzy. With a warm, graceful smile, she lit up the livestream once again.
"Oh my god, I’m in love!"
"Wait, was that my heartbeat just now?"
"I just know Universal Pictures will pick Reese for their new film. She’s perfect for it!"
People online were going crazy. But the event itself wasn’t open to the public.
The reporters had no choice but to crowd around the entrance, trying their best to snap photos and cover the event from outside.
Inside the Lawson Mansion, the party was in full swing.
Blake stood by the entrance, greeting guests with a polite smile.
Everyone knew the Lawson Group was hosting the event, so they all treated the new CEO with respect.
Just then, Dave and Bianca arrived.
Unlike the last time they met, Blake was the first to speak. He extended his hand politely and said, “Welcome, Mr. Evans. It’s an honor to have you here. Thank you for coming. I’m glad I could greet you personally.”
Dave shook Blake’s hand politely. “You’re being too kind, Mr. Lawson. I’m honored to be here as well.”
The two men faced each other again, but this time it was nothing like before. Blake seemed more reserved, his head slightly lowered. He appeared to have accepted that Dave was now the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group. In front of all the guests, no one dared to bring up the tension from the past.
Their interaction felt like they were meeting for the first time.
“You’re an important guest, Mr. Evans,” Blake said sincerely. “I just recently took over the Lawson Group, so I’ll be needing your guidance. I hope you can continue to support us.”
“You’ve been in the business world longer than I have, especially here in Edenfield. There’s still so much I need to learn from you.”
Watching them, Bianca thought Blake had grown a lot.
She smiled and added, “Don’t worry. If he doesn’t help you, I’ll make sure he does.”
Blake smiled and clasped his hands politely. “Alright, please take your seats over there.”
Without a second thought, Bianca pulled Dave along. They followed Blake and sat at the center of the party.
Their presence caught everyone’s attention.
After all, in Edenfield, everyone wanted a chance to be close to the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group.
Once they were seated, Blake brought up Brady.
"Even though my father’s gone, the Lawson and Evans Groups are still family. It’s just that..."
He let out a quiet sigh and went on, "I never spent a single day with him. I wish I knew what kind of person he really was."
Dave frowned slightly. To others, Brady was his uncle-in-law. Even if Brady hadn’t been the best person, this wasn’t the right time to bring that up.
“He was a sharp businessman,” Dave said after a short pause. “His death… it was just an accident.”
Blake looked up and gave a faint smile. “Yeah. I guess he was crushed by his failed investments. Then my mother passed away, too. It was all too much for him... But no one’s really to blame. In the end, he just wasn’t strong enough.”
