Chapter 566: Inviting Dave To Dinner
Chapter 566: Inviting Dave To Dinner
“Leonel!” Bianca suddenly stepped forward and took her brother’s hand, smiling. “Enough chatting here at the airport. Dave already booked us a table. Let’s go eat and continue talking there.”
During the drive, Bianca chatted happily with Madison.
Leonel also enjoyed his conversation with Dave. It was rare to find someone he could truly connect with, and he started to wonder if he had judged Dave too quickly before.
What Leonel didn’t know was that Dave had prepared well ahead of time. The easy flow of their conversation came down to Dave’s intention. If he wanted to get along with someone, he usually did. That was one reason he had succeeded in so many business battles.
From the back seat, Madison occasionally looked at Bianca and Dave. The atmosphere in the car felt warm and comfortable just like a close-knit family.
Dave wasn’t just handsome, he was thoughtful too. He opened the car door for Bianca, placed his hand on the frame to keep her from bumping her head, and even handed her a bottle of water. Each gesture showed how much he cared.
It was hard to imagine that the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group could be this gentle and caring. But Madison, with her experience, could clearly feel how much Dave cared for Bianca.
Soon, they arrived at the well-known Haydn Hotel in Edenfield.
The day before, Dave had asked about Madison’s preferences and found out she enjoyed local cuisine. So, he had invited a top local chef to prepare the meal. The dishes were made carefully and good enough to be served at a state banquet.
Madison, who knew her way around local food, took a bite. Right away, she could tell how well it was done. “The flavor is exceptionally good,” she said.
Dave gave a small smile. “I’m glad you like it.”
Madison didn’t recognize the chef, but Bianca did. She quickly explained, “Mom, Dave knew you liked good food, so he invited the best chef in Edenfield.”
“Thank you for being so thoughtful, Dave,” Madison said. The more she looked at him, the more she liked him.
Leonel eyed the dishes on the table. They looked nice, but he wasn’t sure they would live up to the praise. Then he took a bite and was completely surprised. The flavors were rich, layered, and full.
“Wow. This is amazing,” he said, impressed.
The only problem? The servings were small. There were just eight dishes, and the portions weren’t nearly enough for someone with Leonel’s appetite.
“These are just the appetizers,” Dave said.
Right after he spoke, the side door opened, and a line of carts was wheeled in.
Waiters came in with dish after dish, setting them neatly on the table. It looked like the start of a state banquet.
“Dave, I told you a simple dinner was enough,” Bianca said, a little surprised as the table quickly filled up with food. She leaned closer, took his hand, and whispered, “There’s so much here. How are we going to finish it all?”
Several waiters came over carrying different kinds of dishes.
"Dave, didn’t I say I just wanted something simple?" Bianca leaned closer and whispered, "How are we supposed to eat all this?"
Madison looked delighted. "I love having options. I haven’t had some of these in years."
Bianca noticed that even though the portions were small, there were so many different dishes. She could tell Dave had really put thought into it.
"I’m glad you like it," Dave said with a smile. It was his first time hosting Bianca’s family, and he wanted to make a good impression with a variety of local food.
"Of course I like it," Madison said with a bright smile. "Mr. Evans, you’re very thoughtful. I haven’t seen some of these dishes in such a long time. My daughter really made a good choice."
She wasn’t just thankful for the food, but also for those who made it happen. "I planned to treat you today, but here you are, paying for everything instead."
Dave replied casually, "This restaurant is actually under the Phoenix Alliance Group. You’re welcome anytime."
He said it lightly, but it still showed just how powerful the Phoenix Alliance Group was.
Leonel looked surprised when he heard that. "This place belongs to the Phoenix Alliance Group too?"
Leonel didn’t know what to say. Dave’s wealth was beyond anything he had imagined.
The way Dave stayed low-key only made Leonel more curious about how big the Phoenix Alliance Group really was and how many industries it touched. He had seen reports in the stock market and knew it was a giant, with assets worth hundreds of billions.
For a moment, he even wondered if Phoenix Alliance Group funded the research institute he worked for. But he quickly shook off the idea. If that were true, Dave's influence would be even more shocking.
Dave turned to Leonel and Madison, raising his glass. "Bianca told me you both helped raise five billion for Phoenix Alliance Group when we were going through tough times. This toast is for you."
Madison smiled and answered humbly, "It wasn’t much. We just did what we could." She knew well that five billion was just a small amount for a company as massive as Phoenix Alliance Group.
Leonel raised his glass and smiled. "In that case, we should be the ones thanking you. Our investment in Phoenix Alliance Group really paid off."
"You deserved it," Dave replied, giving them credit for their smart choice.
Bianca looked at them, happy to see everyone getting along. She lifted her glass. "Here’s to more success for Phoenix Alliance Group!"
"And to the stock price going even higher!" Leonel added, his face a little red from all the excitement.
As Dave finished his wine, Madison raised her glass slowly. She looked thoughtful. "I’ll admit I was wrong about Dave before. But now, seeing how well he and Bianca get along, I feel comfortable. Still, no matter how close two people are, marriage is important. It keeps people from talking."
Bianca almost choked on her wine when she heard that.
Leonel jumped in quickly. "Bianca, Mom’s just excited about the idea of you getting married. You might not be in a hurry, but she’s already thinking about grandkids!"
He and Madison both looked at Dave, waiting for what he’d say.
Dave put down his fork and looked straight at them. "I will marry Bianca."
Madison’s eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my goodness, really?" She almost stood up from her seat but stopped herself. "But I remember Bianca saying there was some promise that kept you from getting married..."
