Chapter 537: Want Me To Take Him Out
Bianca rushed back to Waterfront Apartments, still shaken. As soon as she closed the door, she ran to her study and turned on her computer.
She had looked calm earlier, but now fear crept in. If the secret bodyguards hadn’t come just in time, and if Dave hadn’t sent them in the first place, Rupert would have taken her.
Knowing how cruel Rupert was, she doubted she would’ve made it out unharmed. He was the one behind the plane crash. He didn’t care about anyone’s life.
But reality doesn’t work with “what ifs.” The whole thing still made her body tremble.
She plugged the recorder into her computer, saved the file, and sent it straight to Dave.
Even inside her apartment at Waterfront, Bianca didn’t feel completely safe. She had worked hard to get that recording, and it needed to go to the one person who could actually use it.
When she saw the file had been sent, she let out a heavy breath and leaned back in her chair.
At that moment, Dave was in the middle of an international conference call. But when he saw Bianca’s message, he ended the call immediately.
Alone in the meeting room, he opened her message.
“Dave, I have the evidence that can bring Rupert down!”
Confused, Dave clicked on the file. As he listened, his face slowly turned cold and serious.
As Rupert’s voice played through the recording, Dave’s expression darkened. When he heard Rupert talk about hurting Bianca, he snapped the pen in his hand without thinking.
The two secret bodyguards had put Bianca in serious danger. Dave hadn’t expected things to turn out this way. But now wasn’t the time to point fingers.
He picked up his phone and called Bianca right away.
The recording made it clear that Bianca had escaped for now. But Dave knew Rupert too well. He was like a predator who never gave up once he aimed onto his target.
Now that Bianca had the recording, Rupert wouldn’t stop. He’d turn all of Edenfield upside down just to find her.
Right now, Dave felt a heavy wave of worry. He always kept calm, but this time, panic was creeping in.
The moment the call connected, he let out a breath of relief. “Bianca, where are you right now?”
“I got away,” Bianca said in a trembling voice. “I’m at Waterfront Apartments, but I don’t know if Rupert’s men will find me here.”
“Stay where you are. I’m coming to you,” Dave said. “Don’t be scared. I’m here to protect you.”
Without wasting a second, Dave called in all his secret bodyguards and rushed to the Waterfront Apartments.
When Wyatt heard the news, he quickly rushed over to meet Dave. After Dave explained everything, Wyatt clenched his teeth.
“Boss, Rupert’s lost his mind. Want me to take him out?”
Dave’s eyes were cold. “Killing him would be too simple. I’ll settle every score between us. One by one. I’ll take away everything he cares about.”
He felt nothing for Rupert or the rest of the Evans family anymore. Even his own parents had died because of his uncles. That debt still had to be paid.
But right now, keeping Bianca safe came first.
After the call with Dave ended, Bianca just sat there. Her mind went blank. She couldn’t think. The night had pushed her past her limits. The tension that had been building inside her finally began to vanish, little by little.
Bianca’s hands wouldn’t stop shaking. No matter how hard she tried to calm down, her body gave her away.
The lights outside were bright, but her room stayed dark. She didn’t dare turn anything on. She was afraid it might give away her location.
She knew Rupert would do anything to find her. What she didn’t know was who would get to her first—Dave or Rupert.
Even so, she didn’t regret what she did. For once, she was able to help Dave. She finally became someone he could count on.
Bianca leaned back on the sofa and slowly closed her eyes.
A sudden noise came from the door. Bianca’s eyes snapped open. She stood up right away, moved behind the sofa, and clenched her hands.
A tall figure stepped out from the shadows.
Bianca knew that shape right away—it was Dave.
He reached for the light switch in the living room. Just then, a small figure ran toward him and threw her arms around him.
Dave was caught off guard for a second. Then he held her tightly in his arms.
"Why would you do something so dangerous? Do you know how worried I was? Why didn’t you tell me first? What if something happened to you?"
Dave held Bianca rightly. She could feel how fast he was breathing. His chest rose and fell quickly. He was always calm, but now he looked scared because of her.
Bianca felt like a kid who got caught doing something wrong. She spoke softly. "I just wanted to help. He’s after me. I thought..."
Dave embraced her even tighter. "I get it. But you can’t keep putting yourself at risk. You promised we’d talk things through from now on, remember?"
Bianca pressed her face into his chest. Her voice was low. "If I told you, you wouldn’t have let me do it. But it was the only way I knew to help you. I didn’t think about it carefully. I’m sorry... Please don’t be upset."
Bianca’s gentle apology erased Dave's anxiety. His anger started to fade. The fear, the worry, and everything else didn’t matter anymore. What mattered most was that she was safe.
They held each other tightly.
“How could I ever be angry with you?” Dave said, breathing in the scent of her hair. The girl he had brought home had grown strong enough to face danger. Still, he wished she could stay simple and carefree.
“Oh, I have something for you.” Dave gently pulled back, lifted his hand, and slowly opened his fist.
A red sparkle slipped out from his palm.
It was the red diamond necklace. He had been holding it the whole time.
Bianca’s eyes lit up in surprise. “This red diamond necklace... how do you have it?”
Dave gave a gentle smile. “This necklace is one of a kind. It means something special to both of us. No one else should have it but you. So I got it back.”
He took her hand and carefully wrapped the necklace around her ring finger, just like a ring. The red diamond gave off a soft, warm glow.
“Do you remember what you promised me in the church?”
