Accidentally Slept With The Ruthless Billionaire

Chapter 525: Don’t You Find It Strange?

Chapter 525: Don’t You Find It Strange?

Dave might be more capable, but he was too caught up with that manipulative woman. Maybe it was time to give Rupert a chance.

Besides, Dave had gone against him too many times. Each time left Lucas feeling more disappointed.

He closed his eyes, but the tension in his face didn’t fade.

If Rupert could prove he was capable of running the company, then Lucas might let him take over the Evans Group. But whether Rupert succeeded or failed was up to him. Lucas would just wait and see.

As soon as Rupert left, he contacted Dave and said he needed to talk.

“You can say it over the phone,” Dave replied coldly.

Rupert mentioned that Lucas wanted them to meet face-to-face.

An hour later, the two met in the reception room of the Phoenix Alliance Group.

“Whatever it is, just say it. I’m busy,” Dave said, narrowing his eyes. He figured Rupert wasn’t here for anything good.

There had to be a reason behind this visit.

Rupert gave a slight smirk. “Dad found out something. He told me to ask if you knew. A pawnshop recently received a red diamond. It looks a lot like the one you bought for a billion. The records say it was pawned by a woman named Scott.”

Dave froze for a second, then asked, “So?”

Rupert observed his reaction, trying to figure out what he was thinking. But like always, Dave gave nothing away.

“Do you know about this?”

“No.”

Rupert clapped his hands. “That’s exactly why your Grandpa is worried. Dave, are you sure Bianca didn’t fool you?”

“Why would you say that?” Dave’s voice stayed calm, but his eyes darkened.

“She pawned something that was valuable and didn’t even tell you. Don’t you think that’s wrong? It was worth a billion. If she can do whatever she wants without asking you, how is that not stealing?”

Rupert’s throat felt dry after all the talking. He grabbed a bottle of water and took a few big gulps.

“You’re right. So this has nothing to do with me,” Dave said with a grin. “I gave her that red diamond a long time ago. What she does with it is her choice.”

Rupert nearly choked. Water sprayed from his mouth as he coughed in shock. “You’re not mad?”

Dave frowned and glanced at the water on the floor. “Why should I be?”

Rupert’s face darkened. He had brought this up hoping to cause trouble between Dave and Bianca. But to his surprise, Dave didn’t seem bothered at all.

“Don’t you find it strange?” Rupert tried to persuade him. “She pawned it for half the price. She looked like she was in a hurry. What if she runs off with the money?”

“It’s hers. She can decide what to do with it. I don’t need to interfere. I’m sure she has her reasons.”

He stood up and looked down at Rupert. The air around him grew cold and tense.

“Bianca is the woman I love. One red diamond means nothing to me. If she wants it, I’ll give her every red diamond in the world.”

He pointed toward the glass door again.

“Now leave. Before you regret.”

Rupert’s forehead pulsed with anger as he pointed a shaking finger at Dave and his jaw tightened.

“Dave Evans, has that woman messed with your head? Are you really going to give her everything you worked so hard to build?”

Dave stared at him and his voice was cold. “You said it yourself; I built this business. That means I get to decide who I give it to. It’s none of your business. Now leave.”

Rupert didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t understand how Dave could do all this for a woman.

It felt like Bianca had some kind of power over him.

Rupert couldn’t believe he once saw Dave as a competition for the Evans Group.

It was ridiculous.

How could their father be so blind?

Why did he always think so highly of Dave?

To Rupert, Dave was nothing but a fool. Someone like him shouldn’t even dream of running the Evans Group.

Just because he was the child of Lucas’s firstborn’s son? That was ridiculous.

When Rupert got back to Lucas’s house, he didn’t waste time.

He stormed into Lucas’s bedroom and started telling him everything that happened with Dave.

“That bastard!” Lucas’s face turned red with anger. He started coughing hard, struggling to catch his breath. He looked even more disappointed in Dave than before.

“How could he throw everything away for a woman?” Lucas said, frustrated.

Seeing his chance, Rupert acted concerned. He gently patted Lucas’s back and quickly called for a doctor.

“Dad, are you okay? This is my fault. If I knew it would upset you this much, I wouldn’t have said anything.”

Lucas shook his head and held Rupert’s hand tightly.

Right then, he placed all his hopes on his son.

He truly believed Rupert was the one who could lead the Evans Group.

“Rupert, you must take care of the company.”

Rupert’s eyes lit up for a second, full of ambition. But he quickly covered it up.

“Don’t worry about anything. Just rest and get better. I’ll take care of the company. I promise I’ll do my best.”

Lucas closed his eyes, his voice filled with sadness.

“The Evans Group is in your hands now.”

Meanwhile, Dave had just found out that Bianca had pawned the red diamond.

He called Wyatt right away. He didn’t understand why she did it.

But that diamond meant something to them. It was a symbol of their love.

The thought of someone else owning it made his chest tighten.

“Go to Prosper Pawnshop and get the red diamond necklace back,” he ordered.

Wyatt didn’t waste a second. He went straight to the pawnshop. But things didn’t go the way they expected.

"I'm sorry, but it's not just about paying," the clerk said. "Our policy says only the person who pawned the item can redeem it. If you want to buy it instead, it’ll cost a lot more. And I can’t approve that. You’ll have to talk to my boss."

Wyatt’s jaw tightened. He was clearly annoyed. “If you can’t decide, then call your boss. Don’t waste my time.”

The clerk shrugged. “Oh, I forgot to mention, she’s out of the country. I don’t know when she’ll be back. You’ll have to come another time.”

Wyatt realized this wasn’t something he could solve himself. He told Dave everything.

Without waiting, Dave asked someone to find the owner's number.

The moment he got it, he called right away.
