Accidentally Slept With The Ruthless Billionaire

Chapter 514: We’re Partners Now

Chapter 514: We’re Partners Now

The receptionist gave her a quick look and then called the chairman’s secretary.

Before Skylar even finished her coffee, the secretary came over and held out her hand politely.

“Miss Larson, Mr. Lawson is ready to see you.”

Skylar smiled and walked behind the secretary to the top floor.

She knocked on the door and entered.

Brady was sitting straight, wearing a faint smile, like he had been waiting for her.

“Mr. Lawson, were you expecting me?” Skylar asked carefully, watching him.

Brady motioned for her to sit down.

He smiled and said, “Yes, though I didn’t think you’d come this quickly. I may have missed the wedding, but word gets around fast. Today’s news is already making waves in the business world.”

Brady didn’t waste time with small talk.

He was known for growing Lawson Group not just through hard work, but by making bold and smart choices.

He understood Skylar’s situation clearly.

He had failed many times before finding success, so he knew the signs.

He was sure Skylar wouldn’t back down or leave the city quietly.

He had expected her to come, because only Lawson Group could stand up to the Evans Group.

Skylar looked at him, gave a small smile, and spoke directly.

“No need to play games. I’ve become a joke, and my ties with Dave and the Evans Group are gone. You saw what happened at the wedding, so you know I’m not lying. I came here to work with you. We both want the same thing. I want to crush the Evans Group, and you want Lawson Group to rise. Isn’t that right?”

Brady uncrossed his legs, interested.

“Oh? Then tell me how you plan to help me bring them down. Or should I say—our shared enemy?”

Skylar looked at him.

He was in his forties, calm and confident, with a strong determination to lead the business world.

Skylar knew she had to offer something valuable if she wanted Brady’s trust.

She took a deep breath.

She was ready to let go of her so-called pride and shame.

Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a flash drive and slid it across the table.

“This is my gift,” she said. “It holds the base price for the reconstruction project. I know you and Dave are both fighting for that bid.”

Skylar had overheard the info and secretly recorded it.

She always kept something in her back pocket for emergencies.

Brady took the flash drive, turned on his computer, and called the bidding director.

He told him to adjust their offer based on the info Skylar gave.

This time, the winning bid wouldn’t go to the lowest price.

It would go to the company whose bid was closest to the average.

Brady glanced at Skylar and asked, “Aren’t you worried this price might be fake? What if the Evans Group changes their bid at the last minute?”

Brady laughed and his voice echoed through the grand office. “So what if it’s a lie? Losing once doesn’t scare me. But if it’s real, the payoff could be huge. I think you’re holding back more than you’re letting on.”

Skylar took a quiet breath.

This man was even shrewder and calmer than people said—an expert in strategy and secrets.

“You’re right,” she said calmly.

“I have something you’ve been wanting for a long time. I think you’ll find it very interesting.”

“Perfect,” Brady said, leaning back and studying her.

“With that kind of drive, working with you will definitely be… entertaining. So, what do you want in return?” Skylar gave him a cold smile, her eyes full of determination.

"I’ll help you beat the Evans Group, but I have one condition—I want to marry Dave. What do you think?"

For a moment, Brady’s eyes softened.

He was always sharp and ambitious, and he quickly saw through Skylar’s true plan. She wanted an alliance but didn’t want to offend the Evans family. She was trying to play it safe.

But Skylar didn’t really understand how cruel the business world could be. In this game, you either win or lose everything.

Still, Brady didn’t tell her that. He kept it to himself.

"Your loyalty to Dave is impressive. He’d be a fool to choose Bianca over you. I’m willing to help but first, I need to be sure you’re truly on my side."

As the afternoon auction got closer, Skylar understood what he meant. She turned and walked off, her heels echoing on the marble floor.

"I’ll take that as a real compliment," she replied without looking back.

Brady gave a faint, unreadable smile. "You’re like a rose with thorns. Strong and beautiful. Hard not to admire."

Skylar rolled her eyes and kept walking.

In the conference room, Brady sat gracefully with his hands folded under his chin. His eyes showed traces of past regrets and the weight of what's to come.

"Dave, you've always been smart. But this time, you’re stuck. You went against a woman with real power—there’s a price for that. Still, because of you, the Lawson Group might get a fresh start."

The next day, the Lawson Group won the bid.

Skylar walked into Brady’s office.

“We’re partners now,” Brady said, reaching out his hand.

“For both our sakes,” Skylar said. “I hope we can work well together.”

She gripped Brady’s hand a little tighter. Her eyes gleamed with sharp confidence.

She had a plan in mind—one she knew Brady would agree to on the surface.

But Brady had bigger goals. He didn’t just want to beat the Evans Group. He wanted to crush them and wipe them out for good.

And once he got what he wanted, he had no intention of keeping Skylar around.

Brady’s lips curved slightly. “Tell me,” he said in a low, rough voice. “What’s your trump card?”

Skylar gave a knowing smile as she shared a shocking secret: Dave had signed a high-stakes gambling contract.

Brady’s mind started spinning.

A gambling contract? That was reckless and dangerous.

If Dave won, the Phoenix Alliance Group could soar higher than ever. But if he lost, it could all come crashing down. The risk was huge. The damage could be beyond repair.

Phoenix Alliance Group was the core of the Evans Group. If trouble came, the Evans family wouldn’t sit back. They would step in and support Phoenix Alliance Group.

But the penalties tied to the contract were insane—an amount so high it could break even the powerful Evans name.

Brady stared at Skylar. She was either fearless or foolish. Did she really understand that her actions could bring the Evans family to ruin?

And if that happened, what would she even gain from Dave?

Still, Brady said nothing.

When everything fell apart, Skylar would take the fall. Meanwhile, the Lawson Group would rise and claim what the Evans family left behind.
