Chapter 500: A Billion Dollars Offer
Chapter 500: A Billion Dollars Offer
Reece looked down. His face was cold and distant. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I get that you’re mad I didn’t win the case. To make up for it, you don’t need to pay me. Is that fair enough?”
He turned and walked toward the door.
Bianca called out after him.
“Reece Barton, you don’t deserve to be a lawyer!”
Reece stopped, but he didn’t look back. “What you think doesn’t matter. As long as I get what I want, that’s enough.”
Bianca stayed standing until he was gone.
Then her knees gave out. She held onto the railing to keep from falling.
She couldn’t understand why he would do this to her. Wasn’t he close to Dave?
He helped so much with Sophia’s case. So why was this one so different?
Bianca had a strange feeling that someone was secretly pulling the strings behind all this.
The huge amount she had to pay could ruin her company. She didn’t know what to do next.
She held her head, feeling like crying, but no tears came out. Even in that moment, she tried to compose herself.
What mattered most now was finding a way out.
She thought about calling Dave. Deep down, she knew he would help if she asked.
But Phoenix Alliance Group was also under heavy pressure from Evans Group.
If she asked Dave for help now, it would only make things harder for him.
She didn’t want to drag him into her mess.
Even after thinking for a long time, her mind stayed a mess. As she walked down the steps, her legs shaky, someone suddenly blocked her way.
She looked up and saw several tall men standing in front of her.
“Miss Scott, please come with us.”
“Who are you?” Bianca asked, watching the men in black carefully.
“Lucas Evans wants to speak with you,” the man in front said in a serious tone.
Bianca was taken aback.
Lucas? Dave’s grandfather? Why now?
“What does he want with me?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.
“You’ll know when you see him. Please come with us,” the man said firmly.
Bianca knew she had no choice. These men wouldn’t think twice about dragging her.
She let out a soft sigh.
If Lucas really wanted to hurt her, he wouldn’t go through all this trouble.
And part of her wanted to know why he asked for her. Maybe it had something to do with Dave.
She didn’t argue. She followed them to the car.
After an hour on the road, they reached Evans Mansion.
Bianca’s eyes widened at the grand estate. Was this where Dave grew up? But she remembered what he had told her. Behind all this beauty were painful memories.
She felt uncomfortable as she walked.
The car stopped at the gate. She got out and followed the men inside.
As soon as she stepped through the entrance, they left and closed the gates behind her.
Now, she was alone.
Bianca took a deep breath and made her way to the main building.
She walked into the living room. It was empty. The silence felt heavy in the large space.
She glanced around. Then she heard a soft cough from upstairs.
Looking up, she saw Lucas coming down the spiral stairs, using a cane.
“Have a seat,” he said as he slowly settled onto the couch.
Bianca gave a polite nod and took a seat.
“It’s not our first meeting,” Lucas said while staring in eyes. “But it’s the first time we’re speaking one-on-one.”
Dressed in her business suit, Bianca looked calm and in control.
“Mr. Evans, may I ask why you called me here today?” she asked, keeping her tone respectful.
“I know everything,” Lucas said plainly. “You lost the case. And now, you owe a large amount for compensation.”
Bianca's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly composed herself.
"You're well-informed. You knew the outcome of my case as soon as it ended.”
She kept her smile, adding, "Or maybe you never thought I'd win in the first place?"
"That's irrelevant. What matters is I can help you through this crisis," Lucas replied calmly.
Bianca chuckled softly. "Of course it matters. If I lost because of your intervention, it means you've been trying to strike a deal with me from the start. It's probably a difficult deal for me to accept."
Lucas raised an eyebrow as he looked at her. He had to admit—she was smart.
“Miss Scott, since you already get the picture, I’ll keep it simple,” he said, leaning back and observing her.
“I know you’re close to Dave. I also know you’ll ask for his help. But here’s the truth—Phoenix Alliance Group signed risky deals with other companies. The amount of money involved is huge. With the damages you now owe, his company doesn’t have enough to cover it. If Phoenix Alliance Group falls, so does Dave. If he refuses to come back to Evans Group, he’ll end up with nothing.”
His words were sharp. He wanted to scare her.
He thought Bianca didn’t really know what was going on. In his mind, she only stayed with Dave for his wealth and power. And once he lost that, she’d walk away.
That belief gave Lucas the confidence to push forward.
“So, what exactly do you want from me?” Bianca asked in a firm voice and her smile was polite.
Lucas’s face hardened. “I want you to help me take back Phoenix Alliance Group.”
Bianca frowned. She stared at Lucas’s face, studying every detail like she was trying to find the truth hidden beneath.
“Why should I help you?” she asked, her voice sharp with doubt.
Lucas gave a slow smile. His eyes narrowed like he was trying to read her thoughts.
“You won’t be able to turn down what I’m offering,” he said with quiet confidence.
Bianca picked up what he meant right away. Her mind began to race, putting the pieces together.
“You want to clean up this mess and pay the damages. But you planned it all, didn’t you? Just to push me into a corner so you could control me.”
Lucas blinked, caught off guard. Most people didn’t dare speak to him like that.
“Not just that,” he said slowly. “I’ll add a billion dollars. Enough to give you a life most people only dream of.”
A billion dollars—so much that even the strongest person might think twice before saying no.
It was the kind of money that promised freedom from struggle and a life of comfort.
Lucas was sure she would give in.
As his words sank in, Bianca said nothing. Her mind swirled with questions and doubt.
