Chapter 494: Cancel The Contract
Chapter 494: Cancel The Contract
That evening, Bianca invited the whole company to dinner.
Almost everyone showed up, except for a few who had other plans. Reese and Blake were there too.
Bianca had booked three big private rooms, which gave the evening a fun and lively vibe.
As people chatted and enjoyed their drinks, Bianca noticed something was off—Blake looked unusually quiet.
Blake was the most well-known artist in the company. He had a huge fanbase and was admired by many women at work.
For them, sharing a meal with him didn’t happen often.
A few of them tried to toast with Blake, hoping to get his attention.
But he turned each one down without a smile, making the mood around him tense.
Bianca noticed and walked over. She knelt beside him and said softly. "Blake, is something wrong?"
Blake looked away for a second. Then he took a breath and said in a small voice, "Bianca, we need to talk."
Bianca was surprised when Blake suddenly spoke with a serious look on his face. His tone made her feel uncomfortable.
"It’s too loud in here. I don’t like it. Let’s go outside and talk," he said.
He looked around at the crowd and added, "Sorry, I’m not feeling well. I’ll head out early."
The room fell silent. Everyone looked at Blake, clearly disappointed.
Bianca quickly intervened, "Blake can’t sit too long. Let him rest. I’ll walk him out. You all must enjoy the night."
Bianca’s words convinced the others to stop trying to make Blake stay. They nodded and wished him a good rest.
Bianca helped him into his wheelchair and pushed him toward the exit.
Reese quickly walked over. "Do you need help?" she asked.
Blake answered right away. "No, thanks." He looked at her, his eyes sharp, and added, "We’re fine."
Reese was stunned after seeing the cold look in his eyes. She nodded quietly and moved aside.
"Reese, enjoy the night. I’ll be back soon," Bianca said, giving her a light pat on the shoulder before wheeling Blake out.
Outside the restaurant, she stopped and looked at him. "Blake, what did you want to talk about?"
Blake’s voice was rough. "Can you take me for a walk?"
"Of course." Bianca began pushing the wheelchair slowly. The soft sound of the wheels was the only thing breaking the silence.
After a moment, Blake’s hands tightened on the armrest. He looked up at the full moon and asked in a low voice, "Bianca, do you still remember what you promised me?"
"What?" Bianca asked, her eyes widening. Then she paused, thinking for a moment. "You mean the promise I made to stay by your side until you recover? Of course I remember. I meant it."
Blake clenched his teeth. His voice came out tight. "Then why are you still with Dave?"
Bianca stopped. She looked at him—the same man who had always been kind and soft-spoken. She let out a quiet sigh. "Being with him doesn’t break my promise to you."
Blake’s eyes darkened. His voice trembled. "But you promised you wouldn’t marry anyone until I could walk again. Isn’t that what you said?"
He turned the wheelchair to face her. In the moonlight, his face looked tired and filled with pain.
"Yes," Bianca said in a firm voice. "I’m not getting married. That promise still stands." She stared at him seriously.
Blake’s frown deepened. "So you're saying you won’t marry him… but you’re still with him?"
Bianca knelt down so their eyes were level.
"Blake, I gave you my word; I won’t get married until you’re fully recovered. But that doesn’t mean I can’t love Dave. I need you to understand that."
Blake’s hands curled into fists. He stared at her full of sadness.
"So once I can walk again, you’ll leave me and run to him, right? Is my injury the only thing keeping you here? Did you ever really care about me? Or is it just because I’m not as rich or powerful as Dave? Because now I’m just a cripple?"
His voice cracked. The pain in his words was heavy.
Bianca froze. She wasn’t used to hearing him speak like that.
His eyes, once full of warmth, now looked empty. His voice shook with pain and sadness. The moonlight hit his face, making the pain even clearer.
"No, Blake," Bianca said, shaking her head. "It’s not about what you think. I just already love him. My heart’s full. Do you get that?"
Blake bit his lip and closed his eyes, trying to calm himself.
After a moment, he opened them again. The sharp pain in his eyes had faded slightly.
"Will he marry you?" Blake asked. His voice was rough, filled with emotion.
Bianca paused. She forced a small smile. "It doesn’t matter," she said, avoiding the question.
Blake’s eyes widened. "Of course it matters!" he said loudly. "If a man really loves a woman, he’ll want to marry her. He’ll want to make her happy for the rest of her life!"
Bianca knew he was right. But things between her and Dave weren’t simple. And her choice to marry or not had nothing to do with Blake.
She understood how he felt about her. But she didn’t want him stuck in the past. He had to let go.
"It’s my life, Blake." Bianca stood up slowly. Her voice turned cold. "Yes, I promised to stay with you. But that was out of gratitude. And guilt. Not love."
She looked at Blake with firm eyes. "I never saw myself being with you, not even thinking about marriage." Her words were clear, and Blake couldn’t ignore them.
"Blake, you’re a kind and good person," Bianca said, her voice a little softer. "You have a bright future waiting for you."
She paused and kept her eyes on him. "With so many fans supporting you, you can do amazing things in music. You have what it takes to reach the top and make all your dreams come true."
"You’re special, Blake. You should be with someone who truly sees that. Someone who loves you for who you are. Don’t waste your time on me."
She emphasizes things clearly to him. She wanted him to see the truth that they weren't meant for each other and being together wasn't possible.
Bianca's statement set clear boundaries. She knew she'd only ever love one man in this life, and that man was Dave. No one else could ever come close to what she felt for him. Only Dave could light that fire in her soul.
Blake stared at her with his face hard to read. Then, a cold smile appeared on his lips.
"Bianca, cancel the contract with me."
