Chapter 450: I Should Call You Dad
Chapter 450: I Should Call You Dad
Bianca suddenly realized he might be right.
Reese, being sensitive, was probably afraid of making a mistake on air—one that could affect both the company and Blake.
That was probably why she wanted to back out.
"Now I get it. Thanks, Blake." Bianca finally felt a sense of relief.
Blake gave a reassuring smile. "You're welcome."
As soon as he ended the call, his phone rang again.
Thinking it was Bianca, he answered with a smile. But it was Madison on the other end.
Blake's chest tightened.
Bianca had told him that Madison was awake, but he hadn't visited her. He used his injured leg as an excuse, though deep down, he knew that wasn’t the real reason.
The truth was, he was afraid. Afraid of how she would see him now.
His fingertips felt cold as he hesitated, then carefully answered the call.
"Hello..."
"Blake. It’s me, Madison." Her voice was as full of energy as ever.
Blake felt a deep guilt.
"Ms. Lopez, I heard from Bianc that you're awake. How have you been? I've been too busy to visit..."
Before he could finish, Madison said softly. "Are you free tonight?"
She paused for a moment, then added, "I miss you. Let’s have dinner together."
"Well..." Blake’s thoughts tangled as he listened to Madison. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.
"I already know everything," Madison said firmly.
Blake’s heart pounded after hearing her words.
"Really? Did Bianc tell you?" His voice slightly trembled.
Madison didn’t hesitate. "You got hurt trying to save her. I want to have dinner with you to show my gratitude. Will you come?"
Madison’s invitation made it hard for Blake to refuse again. It was also a chance to reconnect with her.
"Okay, I’ll join you tonight."
Madison booked a private room at Eluck Restaurant and sent him the details.
That evening, Blake arrived on time.
As the waiter led him inside, Madison saw him in a wheelchair. Her eyes turned slightly red.
Madison quickly stood up quickly to help Blake into his seat.
"Thank you, Ms. Lopez," he said softly, his gratitude mixed with a hint of shyness.
"Relax. You'll be part of my family soon," Madison said gently, sitting into the seat across from him.
Blake looked up in surprise. He had feared she would disapprove of him because of his condition. He had also avoided thinking about his engagement to Bianca. But hearing her words brought a flicker of hope to his eyes.
Looking around, he asked, "Is it just us tonight?"
"It’s just us tonight," Madison said with a calm smile.
Blake hesitated, caught between surprise and uncertainty.
Madison picked up the wine bottle, poured two glasses, and handed one to him. She raised hers in a toast and looked into his eyes.
"Blake, thank you for saving Bianca. I will always remember your kindness. But there’s one thing I regret..."
Her eyes drifted to his injured leg. A hint of sadness crossed her face as she finished her wine.
Seeing Madison’s sadness, Blake felt a deep guilt. He quickly spoke up.
"Ms. Lopez, I made that choice willingly. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t hesitate."
Madison’s eyes filled with emotion. She was deeply moved.
"Blake, it’s just us here. I need to ask you something, and I want an honest answer." She observed his calm expression.
Though surprised, Blake remained composed. "Of course, go ahead."
"Do you like Bianca? Do you really love her?"
He hadn’t expected that question. But as he looked into Madison’s eyes, his expression stayed firm and sincere.
"Yes, I do."
"How do you show your love for her?"
Blake paused, then lifted his head with determination.
"With your blessing, I want to marry Bianca. I will love and cherish her for the rest of my life. Her happiness will always come first."
Madison felt relieved. She looked at him with approval, but a thought lingered in her mind.
"As a star, do you understand what this means?"
Blake didn’t answer right away. His fists slowly clenched.
"In the entertainment industry, early marriage can dim a star's future. And Bianca is your agent. Have you considered the pressure she would face if you married her?" Madison asked in a serious tone.
Blake’s brow furrowed. He knew how harsh public opinion could be. Even rumors about him and Bianca had led to online backlash. If they made their relationship official, the scrutiny would be relentless.
Competitors would take advantage of the situation. Bianca’s company could be at risk.
After a brief silence, Blake looked into Madison’s eyes and said calmly.
"Ms. Lopez, I joined the entertainment industry for Bianca. If needed, I’m willing to leave it for her."
Madison’s eyes widened in shock. "Are you serious? Do you really mean that?"
Blake nodded firmly. "I promise you, I’ll recover soon and marry Bianca."
Madison’s expression softened. "Blake, I trust you. The entertainment industry is complicated, and I don’t want Bianca caught up in it. After your marriage, you both can step away from the spotlight at your own pace. I’ll support whatever choice you make."
Blake chuckled quietly, taking a sip of his wine.
After dinner, Madison accompanied him to the hospital before saying goodbye.
Once alone in his ward, Blake dismissed his caregiver. He pulled out his phone and dialed a familiar number.
The name on the screen read "Brady Lawson."
Blake sat on the bed, waiting for the call to connect.
Brady had just taken a project from Phoenix Alliance Group and was now dealing with their aggressive retaliation. His office was a mess, and he was drowning in work.
When his phone rang, he picked it up with frustration. But seeing Blake’s name, his irritation faded.
He quickly answered.
"Blake, what’s up?" He leaned back in his chair, pausing his work.
"Mr. Lawson." Blake's voice was cold. His words stirred something in Brady. "Do you know Everleigh?"
Brady was nervous. "Why... Why are you asking about her now?" He sat up straight, unable to hide his discomfort.
Blake's tone remained calm. "I want to see you now."
Brady checked his watch. Work would have to wait.
"Okay, where are you? I'll be there."
Blake gave him the name of a hospital.
Brady frowned. "Are you in the hospital? Are you sick?"
Lately, he had been so buried in work that he barely went home, let alone followed the news. He had no idea Blake had been in a car accident.
Blake let out a sharp laugh. "Mr. Lawson, you don’t care about me, do you? As a fan, how could you not know something this important?" His voice carried a bitter mockery.
Today, his tone and attitude were different.
