Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 235

Chapter 235

"Good morning, Ms. Chapman!" Julian greeted her with a smile. He looked at her plain dress and her pair of ethereal eyes. She was very stunning and innocent.

But he had been suffering these days because she had offended someone intimidating beside him.

"Good morning, everyone!" Marilyn said.

Sergio looked at her with deep eyes, while Malcolm looked at her gently. Terence's line of sight, however, was full of inquiry.

No one paid attention to Velma, who was standing at the side.

"Ms. Chapman!" Alaina smiled as she ran over from the distance.

Seeing that Malcolm and the others were there, Alaina immediately nodded and greeted them, "Good morning, Mr. Lowe, and you guys!"

The four nodded.

The elevator arrived. Marilyn said, "Alaina, let's go!"

"Velma."

Marilyn was about to leave when she suddenly heard Debbie's voice. Marilyn was slightly startled. She instantly stopped and did not move forward.

Alaina glanced at her and stood aside quietly.

"Malcolm, Julian, Sergio, and Terence, you are all here." Debbie looked at them and smiled.

"Mrs. Remington!" the four greeted her.

Debbie smiled and nodded.

Then Debbie looked at Velma and said, "Velma, Natasha texted me, wanting to know if your design was ready. She already has Marilyn's. I was passing by and wanted to ask you!"

As soon as Debbie finished speaking, she raised her head and saw Marilyn and Alaina standing at the side.

As soon as she saw Marilyn, Debbie was angry in her heart. When she thought about the news she saw yesterday, her prejudice against Marilyn was even greater.

When Velma heard Debbie's words, Velma shook her head quickly and glanced at Marilyn.

Velma thought, 'Marilyn has already handed in her work? That's so fast!'

Velma looked at Debbie apologetically. "Debbie, I haven't finished it yet!"

When Debbie heard this, she was unhappy. The presence of Marilyn irritated her more. "What have you been doing all this time?"

Velma lowered her head and said nothing.

Marilyn glanced at Debbie deeply. Then she left with Alaina after the doors of the two elevators opened at the same time.

Malcolm watched Marilyn leave. The four of them greeted Debbie and walked toward the elevator.

Only Debbie and Velma were left.

Debbie took a few steps closer to Velma and said in a dissatisfied tone, "Velma, if you can become Natasha's student, it will be very helpful to your future life. Why don't you take this seriously?

"I loosened Natasha's tongue. She seems to be very interested in Marilyn's work. You should have your design ready in a day or two and send it to Natasha right away, got it?"

"OK." Velma nodded. In the past two days, she had been busy comforting Hugo. His mood was unpredictable, and she was quite worn out.

Debbie sighed and said in a serious tone, "Velma, you have to work hard. You have to look at the big picture and make your future life better. If you can become Natasha's student, your future will be promising.

"Natasha has a great influence in the design industry. You only have these two days. Work harder."

Debbie turned and left.

Velma looked at Debbie's back and was slightly dissatisfied. She also knew that if she could become Natasha's student, her identity and status would be different.

But she didn't have much inspiration recently, and she didn't know Natasha's preferences. Debbie knew it was important, but Debbie didn't help her.

Velma looked at the time. She was going to be late, so she turned around and walked to the elevator with a worried face.

Marilyn had the same work every day. It was all about meeting and following up on the progress. Things were going smoothly every day.

When it was time for lunch, Marilyn suddenly received a call. The caller ID was unknown.

She hesitated, but she still picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Marilyn, shall we meet?"

It was Margie.

Marilyn smiled coldly and said, "Who are you?"

"Marilyn, can't you recognize my voice? You've been hearing that for more than ten years."

"Sorry. I really don't know who you are."

"Marilyn, you..."

"I'm very busy. I'm hanging up now!" After Marilyn finished speaking, she was about to hang up.

Margie hastily said, "Marilyn, wait. I am Margie. I'm Mrs. Chambers. Do you know me now?"

A hint of ridicule flashed through Marilyn's eyes. "Mrs. Chambers, it's you. Anything I can do for you?"

"Marilyn, I know. Your surname is not Chapman. It's Chambers. Am I right?" Margie's mocking voice sounded a little shaky.

Marilyn frowned. Did something happen?

Marilyn said, "Mrs. Chambers, I don't understand."

"Stop pretending. I know it's you. Malcolm wants to buy my company now, and he is very determined. If that does happen, I will be broke.

"Marilyn, I know you hate me. You hate me for treating you like that back then. But there is nothing I can do. People are selfish. You are not my biological child. Why should I treat you well?

"It is your fate. Get over it.

"Are you getting close to Malcolm, the richest man in Fielddell, to let him avenge you?"

Hearing this, Marilyn frowned. She didn't know about this.

However, how could she know about this kind of thing anyway?

What did it matter to her what Malcolm wanted to do?

Marilyn's gaze was cold as she continued, "Mrs. Chambers, I don't know what you mean."

"Marilyn, at the very least, I have raised you for more than ten years. You should be grateful, even though you are not my biological child.

"But you grew up only because you lived in my house. Even if I have done you wrong, have not these ten years of kindness been enough to make you feel better?"

Marilyn heard Margie's angry voice.

Marilyn narrowed her eyes slightly. She had to get things straight first.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Chambers. I can't help you with this." After Marilyn finished speaking, she hung up.

She called Roland quickly.

"Hey, Lynn! Miss me already? It's only been a day."

Roland's voice came. Marilyn frowned slightly and said in a serious tone, "Roland, I have something to ask you."

"Got it. I know something is wrong when I hear your serious tone. Shoot."

Marilyn asked, "Roland, do you know that Malcolm wants to buy the Chambers family's company?"

"No! Why did Malcolm want to do that? The Chambers family's business has not been very good in recent years. They will collapse in less than two years.

"I was thinking that with the shares in our hands, we could make you the biggest shareholder."
