Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 99

Chapter 99

Marilyn calmed herself down and dialed Dominic's number.

The call was picked up quickly and an anxious voice was heard. "Hello! Is this Mom?"

"Yes! Dominic, I encountered something when I went out. I might not be back tonight. Do you dare to be at home alone?" Marilyn was also worried about Dominic. But Dominic had always been sensible, and there should be no problem for him staying at home all night.

"Mom, what happened to you? Are you hurt? Did you call Uncle Roland?" Dominic was anxious, and he wanted to fly to Marilyn immediately.

"Dominic, don't call Roland. It's so late. Don't disturb him, okay?

"I promise you that I am fine. I just want to accompany a friend of mine..."

Marilyn comforted Dominic for a while and finally, Dominic believed her.

After hanging up the phone, she returned the phone to Malcolm and thanked him before entering the ward.

Malcolm looked at Marilyn's back and did not look back for a long time. The dim light elongated his shadow.

"Dominic wants Roland to come over?

In Dominic's heart, Roland is like a father, right?"

Malcolm couldn't tell what feelings were in the depths of his heart. He rubbed his eyes tiredly and sat quietly. When he was alone, he was still cold and arrogant.

Marilyn walked in and looked at the white sheets and quilt.

Looking at Denise's desperate eyes, she sighed slightly.

Denise reminded Marilyn of herself seven years ago. Lying in the hospital, Marilyn was also so desperate and had nothing to live for.

Marilyn asked, "Is there anything wrong with you? The child is safe and you are fine. I am relieved."

Denise turned back and looked at Marilyn with lifeless eyes. "You and I are strangers. Why do you save me?"

The NO.1 bed was close to the door and under the window was the bench Malcolm was sitting on. He heard their conversations inside.

Malcolm frowned. "She jumped into the river to save a stranger?

Didn't she know that the sludge in the river was very deep and dangerous?

Damn it!"

Malcolm could not wait to go in and tell her about safety.

Marilyn smiled. "I have answered this question."

"But I really want to die. What if this child is fine? After I give birth to him, he does not have a father and will be pointed at by people in the future.

"In this society of apathy, he will live a hard life and will not be happy. Instead of letting him live in pain in the future, it is better for me to die with him now," Denise said sadly and her tears flowed down uncontrollably.

"If I knew that you had such thoughts, I would never have saved you, because you are not worthy of being a mother," Marilyn said coldly.

Denise was about to cry out but she suddenly stopped.

"I..."

Marilyn interrupted Denise quickly. She looked at Denise with clear eyes and began to tell her story.

"Denise, I am also a single mother, but I have never had such thoughts as you. I do not even know who their father is, but I have never thought of taking them with me to die.

"On the contrary, with them, I have lived a happier life from then on.

"At least you know who your child's father is, and at least you and he are in love.

At least you can't be together for other reasons. Of course, I'm just telling you about my story. Whether you want to have an abortion or not, it's up to you."

Denise's eyes were bloodshot and she looked at Marilyn in shock.

She asked in disbelief, "You don't even know the father of the child. How dare you give birth to him?"

"How courageous she was when she made such a decision," Denise thought.

Marilyn smiled bitterly and said, "Why not? At that time, I had a car accident, but they were still in my belly.

"I thought that they must want to come to this world very much, so they were so strong. I never had the thought of abortion. The moment I accepted the reality, I decided to give birth to them.

"No matter who their father is, I will raise them by myself. With this belief, I gave birth to my children."

Perhaps it was due to sympathy, and this was the first time Marilyn told a stranger her story.

In the face of Roland and Jeannie, Marilyn had hidden some things from them because she didn't want them to worry about her too much.

But when she decided to say it out, she found that it was not that difficult.

She thought, "We have to face reality. Only when something happens will one know who will make things even better, who will help him in a dilemma, and who will make things worse. The answers will be clear at that moment."

"What about now? Have you found the child's father?" Denise was shocked by Marilyn's experience.

Marilyn shook her head slowly, "Why should I look for him? In other words, I don't know who he is at all, and I have no way to find him.

"One night, I went to your barbecue with my friends. I saw what happened to you and heard people call you Denise. I remembered it."

Marilyn avoided the important thing and did not want to talk about the past anymore. She seemed to have forgotten that Malcolm was sitting outside.

She thought, "Denise will definitely doubt that I saved her for no reason. I had better tell her the whole thing."

"So that's the case." Denise forced a smile. "Even a stranger, who had not talked to me, saved me at all costs. But the man I love does not even dare to see me once. This is really a great irony."

Denise could not stop her tears. Tonight, she had intended to see Jacob for the last time, but he had not appeared.

It wasn't that he didn't want to come, but that he didn't dare to come. This was what made her despair the most.

The child did not have a father. Denise was afraid that if she gave birth to the child, others would scold him. That would be a great pain for her child.

In a fit of anger, she wanted to commit suicide with the child.

She glanced at Marilyn. Marilyn was still in a sorry state as before, but she always had steel-like strength.

Denise looked at Marilyn's clear eyes that seemed to be able to see through people's hearts. Unknowingly, courage gradually arose from the depths of her heart.

She thought about it and said, "My mother is a family wrecker, so I have had no father since I was born. I was often called a bastard child. I don't want my child to bear the same pain.

"Although my mother married into the Warren family later and my foster father treated me very well, I can't forget what happened to me. It was like a shadow that has long been in the depths of my heart."

Marilyn heard that and thought, "It turned out to be like this. No wonder she had the thought of suicide.

Those days were really hard."

Malcolm was outside and heard their conversation clearly.

Malcolm was in disbelief. "After that, she even had a car accident. How much had she suffered all these years?"
