Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Malcolm glanced at Marilyn and found that she was almost done.
"Damn it!" Malcolm cursed secretly.
If Malcolm walked through the lounge right now, Velma would know he had heard her conversation on the phone.
Malcolm glanced down. Although it was on the second floor, it was still quite high. If Malcolm jumped down from here, he would break his legs.
However, if Malcolm didn't go out, Marilyn would come to get him when she was done. Thus, he would be exposed.
Malcolm looked at his phone and quickly texted Marilyn.
"Lynn, tell Winston to take Velma out. Do it quietly." Then, Malcolm added a "hush" emoji.
Marilyn was doing her hair, while her mobile phone and handbag were on the glass table.
Marilyn heard the message notification sound, but she ignored it.
Winston was so busy working that he didn't care about the sound, either. It was not his phone anyway.
Winston was always concentrated at work. While working, he hardly checked his phone or answered any calls.
He would only check his phone after he was done with work.
That was why Malcolm did not text Winston.
Malcolm knew that even if Winston had a new message or an incoming call, Winston would not stop to take a look.
Hence, Malcolm had no choice but to text Marilyn.
However, through the glass door, Malcolm saw Marilyn sitting there with no intention of moving.
Malcolm glanced at the handbag and phone on the glass table again, feeling dejected.
The phone was so far away. No wonder Marilyn did not even so much as glance at it.
Malcolm swallowed, wondering if jumping off the second floor was his only choice.
Malcolm took a few steps forward and saw the fire pipe on the wall.
Malcolm reached out to shake it and confirmed that it was quite sturdy. He figured it was strong enough to handle his weight.
Malcolm rubbed his hands, ready to go down from here.
As a man who exercised frequently, Malcolm shouldn't have a problem getting to the first floor from the second floor.
Malcolm cursed in his heart.
"I'm going to jump off the building! Don't stop me.
Velma, you bitch! Why do you have to force me to jump off the building?
Velma, I hate you!"
Malcolm crawled out of the balcony as he cursed secretly.
He held the fire pipe tight and quickly slid down.
Malcolm felt that the time he had spent on exercise finally paid off at that moment.
Malcolm successfully arrived at the first floor. Fortunately, there were no security guards around. If there had been, they would think he was a thief, wouldn't they?
Malcolm glanced at his hands, which had turned red because of the friction. It hurt, but he didn't care.
Malcolm returned to the second floor as fast as he could. He took a deep breath outside the elevator before he gracefully walked towards Marilyn's room.
Malcolm walked in and sat on the sofa.
Marilyn gaped at Malcolm as if she had just met a ghost.
Why would he come in from outside? Shouldn't he be in the lounge this whole time?
Marilyn had thought Malcolm was talking with Velma when she heard Velma's voice just now.
But Malcolm came in from outside. How was it even possible?
Winston was so concentrated on his work that he didn't notice the insignificant details.
Malcolm glanced at Marilyn's phone and thought of the message he had sent. He glanced at Marilyn and asked, "Lynn, what's your password? My phone is out of service because I forgot to pay the bill. I have to text Julian and tell him that we'll be there soon."
Marilyn looked at him with confusion. Facing his expectant gaze, she finally said the password, "0923."
Malcolm tapped on the screen and saw the picture of his handsome son. He smiled and quickly entered the password.
As Malcolm entered the digits, he frowned. Why did this password seem so familiar?
He quickly deleted the message he had sent Marilyn.
Malcolm felt as if he was stealing something.
After that, Malcolm put Marilyn's phone back. If he had been a little slower, he would have seen the screen picture popping up, which was a photo of Marilyn's family of five.
Malcolm's mind was still preoccupied with the password.
Suddenly, his eyes lit up. 0923?
Wasn't that his birthday?
Malcolm was touched. When he was about to ask Marilyn, he saw Velma walk out of the lounge.
Malcolm pulled a long face and looked away.
As soon as Velma came out, she saw Malcolm.
"Malcolm, what are you...?" Velma didn't finish the sentence, and her face looked disappointed.
He had come here with that bitch Marilyn.
Velma had thought Marilyn had come alone, but now she knew Malcolm had come with Marilyn.
Malcolm had never come to this kind of place with a woman before.
It seemed that Marilyn was indeed somewhat special to Malcolm.
Velma was glad that she already had a plan tonight.
Otherwise, it would be too late.
Malcolm ignored Velma. He got up and gracefully walked to Marilyn and asked, "Is it almost done?"
Winston glanced at Malcolm and then placed the crystal hairpin on Marilyn's hair. The shiny crystal hairpin helped her beautiful face look more dazzling.
Winston smiled and said, "Alright, it's done. It's so beautiful! This is perfect!" Winston praised the masterpiece he had just created.
Malcolm stared at Marilyn and found her charming, too.
One might not find Marilyn dazzling at first glance, but the more one looked at her, the more one would find her charming.
"You're gorgeous! Lynn, let's go." With that, Malcolm walked to the table at the side to pick up Marilyn's handbag and phone. Then, he turned around to hold Marilyn's hand and left.
Malcolm did not even so much as glance at Velma.
As the two walked out, Marilyn felt apprehensive, secretly blaming Malcolm for making enemies for her.
Was he blind?
Couldn't he see that Velma was right there?
Velma was so upset that Malcolm did not even look at her or speak to her.
This was the man with whom she would trust her happiness. Why was he doing this to her?
Velma could not control her tears, and her hands trembled slightly.
As soon as Malcolm stepped out the door, he was stopped by Debbie.
Marilyn's heart skipped a beat when she saw Debbie, thinking, "Great! Nothing I say will matter now."
Through the glass door, Debbie saw Velma crying.
Velma was the daughter Debbie had raised, so Debbie could not watch Velma get hurt.
Debbie hated Marilyn for ignoring her warnings and was disappointed in Malcolm for being cruel to Velma.
Did Malcolm forget that he and Velma grew up together?
Malcolm looked at Debbie and frowned.
Debbie took a few steps forward. She looked graceful against the elegant pink dress she was wearing.
Debbie looked at Marilyn with sharp eyes and smiled sarcastically "Ms. Chapman, last night I saw you talking and laughing with a guy. You two looked as intimate as a couple. What's going on? Did you find a new sugar daddy already?"
