Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 22

Chapter 22

To be honest, Marilyn was quite surprised to see Malcolm here.

She assumed that people like him had their own gym equipment at home, so they did not need to exercise outdoors.

"Yes," Malcolm replied indifferently.

Somehow, Malcolm was happy to meet Marilyn here.

He was even a little ecstatic. Last night, he had been thinking about how sad and upset Marilyn had been the other day and that Roland had comforted her gently.

He felt so jealous that he couldn't sleep for the entire night.

What was wrong with him? He only met this woman once!

Her sad face made him feel agitated. But when he saw Marilyn this morning, all the negative feelings he had disappeared.

He knew where these strange feelings came from.

It was highly possible that the woman in front of him was the girl he had been looking for.

He had a very strong feeling.

Malcolm had a lot going on in his mind, but he maintained an indifferent face. His gaze shifted from her face to the mole on the back of her hand.

Carolyn had a mole in the same place.

The morning sunshine was gentle, and a light breeze was blowing.

Malcolm looked even more handsome under the sunshine.

Thinking about how she got along well with Roland and how she smiled in front of Roland, Malcolm suddenly felt a bit annoyed. He said coldly. "Ms. Chapman, I helped you yesterday. How about treating me to breakfast?"

When Malcolm heard what he had said, he was shocked! It was not what he had wanted to say!

He had wanted to say goodbye to Marilyn.

Then, he would walk past her pretending not to care at all. This was his style! However, what had he just done?

Marilyn was stunned. She looked at Malcolm in surprise. She didn't expect that Malcolm still remembered what had happened yesterday.

However, it was acceptable if she could return the favor by treating him to breakfast.

She didn't like owing people favors. She already owed a debt of gratitude to Roland and Jeannie. She didn't want to owe Malcolm anything.

Marilyn smiled and asked politely, "What does Mr. Lowe want to eat?"

Malcolm raised his eyes, looked around, and then looked down at Marilyn. He said lightly, "Come with me."

Marilyn looked at his back helplessly. She had no choice but to follow him.

After walking for a long distance, they arrived at a breakfast diner near Vogue Plaza.

According to Marilyn's memory, there was no this diner so it wasn't here until recent years.

The two went in and what surprised Marilyn was that there were many people in the diner and the business was very good!

The two customers by the window had just left, and the waiter had already tidied up the table.

The two of them sat by the window. Marilyn took out her phone and scanned the QR code on the table. She looked up and asked Malcolm, "Mr. Lowe, what do you want to eat?"

Malcolm looked at her and replied, "A sandwich and a cup of milk."

Marilyn looked down and ordered the food on her phone and got herself an omelet.

The food here was expensive, but the decoration was quite good!

The moment Marilyn lowered her head, Malcolm's gaze fell on her face involuntarily. Her long eyelashes cast a small area of shadow under her eyes.

Marilyn didn't wear makeup today but her skin still looked delicate and smooth.

Nowadays, there were very few girls who did not put on makeup. She was one of them. She looked even more attractive and charming without makeup.

To Malcolm, she looked very like the girl in his memory. He could not even suppress the excitement in his heart.

Marilyn felt Malcolm's gaze, and she was very puzzled. Malcolm seemed to like staring at her.

Was there anything on her face?

Well, she didn't wear makeup today. But she was off work today, so it shouldn't matter.

She looked up and was about to ask about it when the waiter came over with the food they ordered.

The food made Marilyn feel very happy instantly!

This omelet was very similar to the one made by her mother.

Malcolm said to the waiter, "Two more glasses of mango juice."

"Yes, sir!" The waiter nodded.

When Marilyn heard this, she quickly spoke, "Sorry, Mr. Lowe, I'm allergic to mangoes."

Malcolm suddenly looked at her meaningfully and continued, "Then we'll have pineapple juice."

Marilyn smiled apologetically. "Mr. Lowe, I am also allergic to pineapples. Mr. Lowe, if you want to drink it, just order what you want."

Malcolm was very excited. What a coincidence!

Carolyn was also allergic to mangoes and pineapples.

Carolyn would come out in a rash if she ate pineapples.

Mangoes had the same effect.

He took a deep breath, suppressed his excitement, and said to the waiter calmly, "Then a cup of strawberry juice and a cup of orange juice."

This time, Marilyn did not refuse.

Malcolm glanced at her and lowered his head to have his breakfast. Strawberries were Carolyn's favorite fruits.

She would put strawberries into a bowl and enjoy them happily.

She liked the sweet and sour taste.

Carolyn would cross the fence between the two families and bring the strawberries to the lawn outside the villa to eat them with him.

The two of them ate silently. Malcolm was so excited that he did not know what to say.

Marilyn stayed quiet because she had nothing to say to Malcolm. They were not at work so she didn't want to talk about business.

"Malcolm!" A sweet voice was heard, and Malcolm frowned slightly.

Marilyn glanced at Velma, who was standing not far away. There was also a noble lady in a luxurious light blue suit standing next to Velma. The lady was Debbie Lynch, the mother of Velma.

Velma and Debbie were staring at Marilyn and Malcolm.

Malcolm did not speak and nodded at Debbie.

Debbie didn't intend to leave easily. She smiled and walked to the two of them elegantly. She looked down at Marilyn, who had her head lowered.

Velma followed Debbie with a sad face. When she saw Marilyn, anger flashed in her eyes.

This woman had only been in the company for several days and had already enchanted Malcolm.

Debbie looked at Marilyn with disdain in her eyes and said bluntly, "Malcolm, did you break up the marriage between you and Velma for this young lady?"

Marilyn instantly became the culprit.

Marilyn lowered her head. It seemed that it was not her fault that Malcolm had not attended the banquet. She had happened to get into the company that day.

Malcolm looked at Velma coldly. When Velma met his cold gaze, she panicked.

Then, Malcolm turned to look at Debbie and said indifferently, "Mrs. Remington, Ms. Chapman and I met during the morning run. We are just having breakfast together. I won't change my mind because of anyone else, so you don't have to blame any other people for the broken marriage.

"As for Velma, if she really wants to marry into the Lowe family, Hugo is also a good choice."

There was not any fluctuation in his tone, as if the marriage had nothing to do with him.
