Chapter 17
Chapter 17
A young man who was rather plain-looking was Hugo.
Beside Hugo sat Meghan, a woman who had an arrogant expression. Before Yvonne married into the family, she gave birth to Hugo and Meghan.
Malcolm had an older sister who was sent abroad by Guillermo at a young age.
After their mother left them, she married someone abroad and rarely came back.
She would only come back to visit Malcolm. But she only stayed for a few days every time she was back. And she already had a five-year-old son.
"Malcolm, watch your language. Yvonne is your mother. How can you speak to her in that way?" Guillermo reproached in anger.
When Guillermo was young, he was also a charming man. Even though he was old now, there was an air of command about him.
Yvonne was tall and slender. She had a pretty face and beautiful eyes. Today, she was dressed in a fitted red dress which showed off her curves perfectly.
However, this woman was always scheming and plotting.
Malcolm said coldly, "She is not. She doesn't deserve to be my mother!
"I had a car accident yesterday because someone had broken my brakes. Coincidentally, all the security cameras around the parking lot didn't work either." Malcolm went straight to the point.
Since Yvonne married into the family, conflicts between Malcolm and his family never stopped.
All the people knew Malcolm detested Yvonne.
Because Yvonne had something to do with the disappearance of Elvira.
"That's too bad! It's a pity that you didn't find that person out. Malcolm, you have to be careful when you go out. After all, you have offended too many people these years." Yvonne put on a worried look, but her words were mean.
With those words, she raised her eyebrows at Malcolm.
Yvonne had tried to kill Malcolm many times in those years. However, he always got away.
Malcolm looked into Yvonne's eyes without fear.
He hinted, "I will. Since there are some ungrateful people in this family!"
Yvonne glared at Malcolm threateningly.
Hugo jumped up from the sofa when he heard it.
He roared angrily, "Malcolm, who do you mean?"
Malcolm narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Don't you understand that? Who benefits the most from my death?"
Malcolm continued to provoke them because he wanted to stir up trouble with his family.
It didn't matter even if his father gave all the property to Hugo and Meghan.
He had built up his own business in Fielddell.
"Stop!" Guillermo shouted, looking at them sternly.
Every time Malcolm came back, he would have a fight with Yvonne and the others. There was no peace in this family.
Guillermo knew it was his fault to have betrayed Elvira.
He didn't know why Elvira disappeared suddenly at that time.
But Malcolm hated him because of this thing.
Guillermo slowly stood up from the sofa and glared at Malcolm. "Malcolm, you are supposed to meet the Remington family to talk about your wedding tonight. How can you be absent because of a new employee?"
Malcolm gazed at his father, his eyes ice cold.
He thought, "They got the news so quickly."
Malcolm shot a sharp look at Hugo. "I'm not the only son in our family."
Three years ago, he had made up his mind to start his own business because he wanted to free himself from the arranged marriage.
He wouldn't marry anyone before he found Carolyn.
What was more, he was still waiting for his mother to come back.
So, he was suggesting that Hugo should take his place to marry Velma.
"It's none of my business," Hugo opposed. Velma was just an adopted daughter of the Remington family. He would not clean up this mess for Malcolm.
As a Lowe, he could have a better choice.
Many women had a lovelier face and a better family background than Velma.
What was more, Malcolm, who had always been against Guillermo, might not be able to inherit anything from Guillermo.
"Malcolm, the Remington family only recognizes you as Velma's future husband. Velma is a good girl. She likes you too. You shouldn't let her down," Guillermo persuaded. His tone softened.
He admitted Malcolm was more capable than him. Actually, he cared about Malcolm very much.
However, Malcolm's manner towards Guillermo was as cold as ice.
He showed a mocking smile and announced, "I won't marry Velma. You'd better drop the idea."
Malcolm finished his words and turned around, heading to the third floor. He came back tonight just to get his stuff.
"Malcolm! Malcolm!" Guillermo called at Malcolm's back, but Malcolm didn't look back.
Guillermo felt miserable to have such a bad relationship with his son.
"Alright. Don't you know him? He just comes to piss you off," Yvonne said deliberately.
Meghan took the opportunity and handed a glass of water to Guillermo. "Dad, don't be angry. We have got used to Malcolm. Don't be mad at him. That's bad for your health."
Guillermo sighed heavily.
The more he grew older, the more he missed the old days with Elvira.
Elvira was a good cook. No matter how late he came back, she would prepare a big dinner for him.
However, the warm home did not exist after Elvira left.
Malcolm went to the third floor, took out the card from the pinhole camera that he had installed, and put a new one in it.
He hid the camera and changed his clothes. Then he walked downstairs.
Guillermo heard the sound and frowned at Malcolm. He asked, "Malcolm, it's so late. Where are you going?"
Malcolm replied shortly, "I still have things to do."
Then he left without looking back again.
Guillermo stood up and said helplessly, "You all go to sleep. Leave me alone." Then he walked towards the study.
Yvonne looked at his back with mixed feelings.
Hugo narrowed his eyes with a malicious expression.
He said huskily, "Mom, Malcolm is so arrogant!"
Yvonne gave a cold snort.
"He doesn't depend on your father anymore. So, he gets more presumptuous." She looked out of the window, plotting against Malcolm in her heart.
