The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 290

Chapter 290

Avery stood in front of a row of sparkling white dresses, her hands nervously playing with the fabric of her skirt. The boutique was bright and inviting, with soft classical music playing in the background and racks of elegant gowns lining the walls.

Janice, ever the enthusiastic best friend, was already flipping through dresses at lightning speed. “Okay, Aves, we’re not leaving here until we find the dress. I’m talking about the kind of dress that makes Ryan cry. Snotty, ugly crying.”

Avery laughed, shaking her head. “Ryan’s not much of a crier, Jan.”

Janice spun around dramatically, holding up a ballgown covered in glittering sequins. “Then we’re going to make him one. Try this on!”

Avery stared at the dress. “I think I’d blind everyone walking down the aisle.”

“Exactly!” Janice exclaimed. “Dazzle them into submission. That’s the goal.”

The boutique assistant, a bubbly woman named Lisa, approached them with a warm smile. “Ready to get started?”

“Absolutely,” Janice said, handing over the sequin-covered ballgown. “Start with this one. Let’s see some sparkle.”

Avery rolled her eyes but followed Lisa to the fitting room. After a few minutes, she emerged, the shimmering gown weighing her down.

“Well?” she asked, stepping onto the platform in front of the mirrors.

Janice squinted at her, tilting her head. “Hmm. You look like a very fancy disco ball. It’s not the one.”

“Thank God,” Avery said, laughing. “It’s so heavy, I feel like I’m dragging a small child behind me.”

Lisa chuckled. “Let’s try something lighter. I have a few options in mind that might be more your style.”

Avery tried on several more dresses: one with a mermaid silhouette that made her feel constricted, another with layers of tulle that felt overwhelming, and a sleek satin number that Janice declared was “too boring for a goddess like you.”

“Jan, you’re not the one getting married,” Avery teased as she stepped into another gown.

“No, but I am the maid of honor, which means I get veto power,” Janice shot back with a grin.

When Avery stepped out in a lace A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and delicate beading along the bodice, the room went quiet.

“Oh my God,” Janice whispered, her hands flying to her mouth. “Avery, you look… breathtaking.”

Avery turned to the mirror, her breath catching as she saw herself. The dress hugged her in all the right places, the flowing skirt adding a touch of whimsy. It was simple yet elegant, exactly what she had envisioned.

“Wow,” she said softly. “I think this might be it.”

“It’s definitely it,” Janice said, wiping a tear from her eye. “Ryan’s going to lose his mind.”
