The Rebirth of My Dead Billionaire Wife

Chapter 62

Chapter 62

The hospital room was filled with an oppressive tension. Victoria sat in the same stiff chair, the pink blanket still clutched tightly in her hands, but now her face was ashen. Her mind reeled as she reread the message on Elena’s phone:

“No one raises this baby besides me.”

It wasn’t just the words that shook her to her core—it was the knowledge of who sent them. Damian. The man she thought she’d escaped from. The man who had tried to kill her. And now, the man who had taken her newborn daughter.

Zaiden’s pacing had grown more erratic. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, his eyes blazing with anger and desperation. “It’s him. Of course it’s him! Who else would pull something like this? Damian. That bastard.”

Victoria closed her eyes, her fingers tightening on the blanket as if it were her lifeline. “Zaiden,” she said weakly, her voice trembling. “He has her. He has Alessia. What if… what if he hurts her?”

Zaiden spun around, his expression hard. “He won’t,” he said through gritted teeth, though his voice lacked conviction. “She’s his daughter, too. He won’t hurt her.”

Tobias entered the room, holding a tablet. His face was grim. “We traced the email as far as we could, but Damian covered his tracks well. The server it came from is encrypted and bounces off multiple locations. It’s impossible to pinpoint his exact location.”

Jonathan followed closely, shaking his head. “I’ve scoured the hospital cameras, but there’s nothing. No footage of him, no sign of anyone suspicious. Whoever helped him did a flawless job.”

Zaiden slammed his fist against the wall, the sound echoing through the room. “So what are you saying? That we just sit here and do nothing while he has our baby?”

“No,” Elena said firmly, stepping forward. “We’re not sitting here. Damian wants something—he always does. And if he’s taken Alessia, it means he’s trying to control you again, Victoria. But we can use that. He’s watching. He’s waiting for a reaction.”

Victoria’s lips trembled as she looked up at Elena. “What do we do? Tell me what to do. I’ll do anything to get her back.”

Elena knelt in front of her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “We’ll message him. We’ll make it clear that Alessia is premature, that she needs medical care. Damian is many things, but he’s not reckless. He won’t risk her life.”

Zaiden exhaled sharply. “And what if he doesn’t care? What if he thinks he knows better than the doctors?”

Elena met his gaze, her expression steely. “Then we keep pushing. We make him care.”

With everyone gathered in the small office, Elena composed a response to Damian’s message. Victoria sat beside her, her hands shaking as she dictated the words.

“Damian, please. Alessia is premature. She needs medical care—oxygen, monitoring, everything the hospital can provide. Please bring her back. This isn’t about us; it’s about her life.”

Victoria hesitated before adding, “I know you care about her. You don’t want her to suffer.”

Elena typed it out and sent it, the message disappearing into cyberspace. The room fell silent as they waited, the seconds stretching into what felt like hours.

Finally, a reply came through. Elena read it aloud:

“Alessia is fine. She’s being taken care of. Better than you ever could. Don’t try to find us. She belongs with me.”

Victoria let out a strangled cry, burying her face in her hands. Zaiden swore under his breath, pacing again. “He’s lying,” Zaiden said, his voice taut with fury. “He doesn’t know the first thing about taking care of a baby, let alone a preemie. She could die out there!”

Tobias leaned forward, his voice calm but urgent. “We have to play this smart. Damian thrives on chaos. If we panic, he wins. He’s counting on us to make rash moves.”

Jonathan nodded, his fingers flying over his laptop keyboard. “I’m working on backtracking the message, but it’s going to take time.”

Elena’s jaw tightened as she addressed the group. “Victoria, Zaiden—we’ll find her. But I need you both to trust me. Damian is trying to get inside your heads. Don’t let him. Focus on Alessia.”

Victoria wiped her tears, her voice shaking but determined. “What if we offer him something? A deal? Maybe he just wants control. Maybe if I—”

“No.” Zaiden’s voice was sharp, his eyes blazing. “You’re not going back to him. Ever.”

Elena raised a hand to calm him. “Victoria’s right in one sense. Damian does want control. But giving in to him isn’t the answer. We need to outthink him, not play by his rules.”

Another message buzzed through. It read:

“I’m giving her the life she deserves. You won’t see her again. Stop looking.”
