The Cursed Bloodline

Chapter Thirty-Three - Raised identity

Chapter Thirty-Three - Raised identity

“I’m sick of fighting this endless war,” Odin said out loud as he turned me away from the others.

Immoenne approached me cautiously as a look of terror flashed through her eyes as she took in the images that she’s just witnessed and yet there was a hint of fascination behind her gaze as she gathered me in her arms in a tight embrace. Her chest was begging to quiver as she suppressed the tears that were threatening to arise, her arms held me tightly as she buried her head into the crook of my neck, there was nothing intimate about the action like when Odin claimed me, instead I could sense her reassurance through the weight of her heart. The one thing she had always feared had finally come to life and inevitably quenched within the same night.

She was expecting to die to protect her family, I thought to myself as I realized the truth.

“I would sacrifice it all to protect those I love,” I said as I placed my hand on her head and caressed her curly auburn locks.

“What shall we do, Alpha?” Ure asked as he tilted his head down slightly in recognition.

“Tonight, we bring this endless war to my father,” Odin said, his voice boomed through the air causing a shiver to run down my spine.

He’s awakening, I thought as a triumphant smile spread to my lips.

“He will destroy you!” Essen spat as she was forced to the ground by a shadow soul.

“But that’s where your wrong baby,” Odin said as he took a step forward.

His breath quickened as he closed the distance between him and his previous lover, their proximity made my stomach churn with disgust as I turned to look at them. Essen gazed up at Odin longingly as she took in his masculine form and craved that which no longer belonged to her. The thought of the two wolves joining and becoming one sickened me and yet I was forced to watch as Odin gently caressed her cheek.

“I know you still love me, Odin,” Essen said hopefully as her murky green eyes began to water.

I quickly turned around to face the damnable woman and glared at her, I knew at that moment that her death would be on my hands and I wanted that moment to be now. I growled at her and approached her with the ground quivering from under me as the roots of my hair glowed a silver-white. I craved her blood on my hands and my tongue, I wanted to taste the tainted coppery fluid within my mouth as I tore the skin from her body with my canines.

“Do you want to die?” I demanded as I stood before her with Odin standing beside me.

“Excuse me?” Essen demanded as she stood up and shoved her nose in my face.

“You heard me,” I snarled as I shoved my weight into her.

“I am the true Luna here, not you,” Essen snapped as she shoved me back.

“Essen!” Odin snapped just as the shadow wolf responded to the contact.

The wolf’s golden veins pulsated with anger as he shoved his massive paw into the centre of Essen’s back and forced her back onto the ground where she fell abruptly onto her stomach. Essen screamed out from surprise as her beautiful face was shoved into the mud and stones from under her, the jagged rocks clawed at her downy skin as the wolf pushed deeper into her spine and shoved her cheek into the earth. Odin’s breath hiked within his chest as he watched the blatant intensity and aggression displayed by the ancient creature who he had no control over.

“Caoimhe, make it stop,” Odin said through gritted teeth.

“No, I’m enjoying this,” I said with ease.

“Caoimhe!” Odin said firmly.

The change in his tone caused the shadow wolf to glance up quickly, his silver-blue fur stood up on end as a deep threatening growl rumbled from his furry chest as he glared at Odin.

“Stand down,” I said reassuringly as I held out my hand towards the wolf.

He sniffed my fingertips aggressively while contemplating his next move, whether he should rip the insolent wenches throat out or not.

“I want her dead too, but we must wait,” I said as I calmly placed my hand on the wolf's narrow snout and roamed my palm upwards towards the base of his forehead.

“Who is this wolf?” Odin demanded angrily as he ripped my hand from the wolf's forehead.

“Odin!” I said annoyed.

The wolf growled possessively as he extended his claws and dug them into Essen’s back ripping the fabric of her shirt and tearing through her delicate ivory skin, her blood seeped through her clothes as his claws bore deeper into her skin, the image was both gruesome and rejuvenating as I attempted to suppress a pleasant smirk. The wolf’s golden veins shimmered radiantly as he stared down Odin, there was no easing the dominance that radiated between the two figures and yet I knew I needed to calm the two of them before things got bloody again.

“Conri, down!” I ordered reluctantly.

“Conri?” Odin asked as his face twisted in recognition.

Oh no, I thought as my eyes grew wide.

“Why… why does that name sound so familiar?” Odin asked as he ran his fingers through his hair.

“Odin?” I asked concerned as he revealed a pained expression.

“There’s… a dull ache in my chest,” Odin whispered as he clenched his chest.

This could be dangerous, I thought distantly.

It wasn’t the time nor place for Odin to remember and reconnect to his only surviving past life, it was a situation that could jeopardize his sanity which was something we couldn’t risk at that moment. I instinctively grasped Odin’s arm and pulled him back into me as I sensed the tension and anxiety build from within him. His testosterone levels were hiking through the roof as he glared at the wolf before him intently.

“No!” I shouted as Odin lunged at Conri.
