Chapter 16

It was confirmed.

I was pregnant.

Only Thana and Leo knew of it… and my private half-human and half-vampire doctor, Dr. Lira. And in two more weeks, I would be crowned queen in the underworlds as I have promised Thana from the distant past. We would need to announce the next heir or heiress to the throne but…

Jane and the von Klein family had turned their backs on the Vampiric Council and were trying to grab everyone’s trust.

“You okay?” Thana laid two wine goblets with water inside. I was currently in the palace signing papers and having a short meeting with some vampires. Thana made sure I started attending all these events to get familiar with how the Council and the rules work.

“Yeah.”

I took the pills she offered me and placed them inside the goblet. The pill slowly dissolves and turns the water into red liquid. I sipped through it and tasted the blood texture.

“You’re enjoying the drink?”

“Mmm. Your discovery helps minimize the chances of vampires attacking humans.” She dips her pill and watches it dissolve into bubbles and completely leave off any trace.

“It does… but I’m experimenting even more so it will fit both tastes of the clans... Since it’s only been fine with the R-clan.” She sighed before sipping her own goblet. “Are you ready to be Queen and mother, big sister?”

I leaned my back on the soft couch and caressed my stomach softly. “If I were in my human state then I wouldn’t. But since I’m a vampire… everything that was complicated for a human was just a blink of an eye to us. We didn’t need sleep, we had the option not to take in food, we needed blood for our body maintenance, pregnancy on R-clan was also a shorter period… there’s just so much.”

“But we have mishaps. Sis, you haven’t seen how a normal day goes with the U-clan, right?”

I nodded with her remarks. “I plan to stay for a while in their land if I plan to rule. Is that something I can do?”

“Of course! Do you want me to make the arrangements?”

“If you wouldn’t mind. Thanks, Thana.”

There was a knock at the door grabbing both our attention. “Can you smell who?” Thana asked. I closed my eyes to know the owner of the scent and pulse. My lips definitely drew a smile after knowing the familiar scent.

“It’s Leo.” Thana smiled and opened the door.

“You’re not a stranger to her nose now.” Thana chuckled and let Leo enter.

“How’s the conference?” I asked as he sat down. He was still the actor of the year.

“It’s been okay. Same as usual… but a question caught me off guard.”

“A question?” I crossed my arms at him.

“Yep.”

“What is it?”

“Hm… Just watch it tonight, Selene. I need to shower.” He grinned and kissed my cheek. He then turned to kiss my tummy and walked off again. I turned to Thana and she had a smirk on her face.

“What is it?! What do you know?”

Thana drew a lying face and only said, “He said it, right? Watch it tonight, sis. Anyway, break’s over. Read and sign the other papers while I attend the meeting.”

“For the peace and order thing?”

“Yes. I want your coronation to be perfectly perfect. I’ll see you in a bit.” She gave me a hug before dashing off again. Cool… what do they know that I don’t?! This completely sucked. I sighed and drank the bloody water before turning to the papers in the other table caressing my tummy. There was so much I needed to remember.

Suddenly, the image of the wide grinning man during the ball appeared in my mind sending shivers of pain and anxiety to me. I had never told anyone but... I had been seeing the same images and nightmares involving that man.

“It’s going to be alright… right, baby?” I panted, wrapping myself with my arms.

I was scared of what’s going to come and happen. I finished today’s work around six and met Leo in the dining hall.

“Are you tired?” He asked, pulling me into his side on the couch and allowing me to rest my head on his broad shoulder.

“Not physically but mentally drained.”

“Your energy will return once you see the conference.” I raised my head from its position and looked at him seriously. There he goes again with his words.

“What is it?”

“Just watch, okay?” He grabbed the remote and turned it on to the entertainment channel before pulling me back very close to him. The commercials ended and it was time for ‘The Special Coverages on Artists.’

“TSCA has finally caught up with the busy hunk, actor of the year Leo Johnson! There was so much story within his life in and out of showbiz especially with the last conference we had.”

I looked at him with a smile. “You? Hunk?” He pecked my lips then turned back to the television with a smile.

“First of all, congratulations for your big achievement. How’s life treating you Leo? I mean how are you grasping all these things?’ asked the reporter.

Leo smiled at them. “Thanks. I am very thankful and glad of all the blessings entering into my life. I really appreciate everything and everyone supporting me.”

“How about your lovelife? We’ve got the scoop that you turned down all the girls that were trying so hard to have you look at them.”

Leo chuckled cutely on the screen before responding, “I’m actually... in a relationship now.”

There were gasps everywhere. Even the reporter was taken by surprise. “Oh? Really? Do you want to tell everyone who the lucky girl is?”

Leo grinned and I could not remove my eyes from the screen. “If I did, then those girls would eat my girl alive.”

I punched Leo lightly on his chest as he continued chuckling. “But it’s true," I commented ang he gave me a wink.

“How long have you been dating this mystery girl?”

“As long as I can remember.”

“Any message to your girlfriend and to your fans watching?”

“To my fans, thank you so much for the support and trust you guys are showing me and all the messages. Love you all. And... To my girlfriend…”

My blood started to go fiery as the camera focused on his face showing his very handsome expression. “Listen till the end,” Leo whispered.

He cleared his throat. “I know we’ve been through so much and we will still have harder challenges in this journey but I don’t want to lose you or even let you go for a second. It was a big mistake before but I’ll change the way it was... I... I want you... I want us... to spend forever... An eternity together. I love you so much.”

A tear suddenly fell from my eye while listening to him. It felt surreal.

“Aww... Let’s get it straight. Was that a proposal just now?”

Leo chuckled and walked his hand through his hair. “Well, let’s just say that it will be once she sees this interview.”

I turned to Leo who was smiling straight at me holding a ring in his hand. He wiped my tears with his fingers and started patting my shoulder. “So what’s your answer, Selene?”

It was as if the present time had stopped. I was chasing my breath and I knew he was serious. Just like he said, he loves me.

“Yes. I’d love to.” I hugged Leo tightly.

He broke the hug immediately placing the ring on my finger and he wrapped his arms around me as well. “I’m sure our baby’s going to like this.”

I looked back at his eyes and pecked on his lips twice and it slowly turned into the passionate kiss we loved to share.It was confirmed.
