New Tragedy Or Not ?
Athena
"So what does this actually symbolise?" I asked, tracing the mark on my skin as I stared at myself in the mirror. His mark was quite different from the ones I had seen before. Each wolf's mark was meant to be unique, carrying their claim and personality. However, I couldn't quite figure out the meaning behind the half-dark moon on my skin, slowly fading into black fragments and then disappearing altogether.
It was beautiful but mysterious.
"It symbolises..." His tone remained serious as he came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his hands on my belly. A gentle smile played on his lips as his eyes met mine, and a small chuckle escaped from him. "Me."
"Of course, I know that!" I wanted to scold him, but seeing the childlike grin on his face made it difficult to maintain a serious expression. "What I'm asking is, what does that black fading moon really mean?"
I watched as he gazed at my mark, his right hand lifting to gently stroke the spot with his index finger. "Perhaps it reflects the person I used to be and the person you've helped me become. It shows how you've erased the darkness and embraced me."
A smile spread across my face, and I held onto his hand, bringing my other hand to rest on top of it. I was certain our baby could feel both of our touches now, and the thought made my heart flutter— It was such a beautiful feeling, "You know, you're making me fall in love with you all over again, even though I never thought it was possible to fall any deeper than I already have."
He chuckled, his joy evident. "Then I'd call it a success. The greatest achievement ever!"
"Silly," I laughed, playfully slapping the back of his hand and tilting my head to plant a tender kiss on his lips.
"I don't care if I sound silly. All that matters is that I want you by my side. Forever," he breathed, his voice dropping a tone, a hint of worry shadowing his eyes as he looked at our reflection in the mirror. "I can't bear the thought of losing you... no matter what."
"We'll fight, Sebastian," I whispered, leaning into his comforting embrace. "And we'll conquer whatever challenges come our way. I have faith."
"And I promise you, if this world fails us, I'll burn it down," he declared, an edge palpable in his voice yet a tenderness mingled within, "Trust me, I would tear apart every realm to bring you back to me."
Sighing, I slowly turned to face him. "Do you believe that destruction would bring me back?" My voice barely rose above a whisper.
His hesitation was palpable as he struggled to find the right words. He released a shaky breath, fear and sadness clouding his gaze and features, "I don't know... but what I do know is that I can't live without you. Without you, this world is a desolate place for me. It's a hell, and I refuse to endure this hell twice, even if it means forgetting everything and reducing it to ashes. I will do that just to get back to you.'
I could feel his heart pounding, his restlessness and tension evident. It was clear he was barely holding himself together, on the verge of breaking down.
Oh, how I wish I could erase every doubt and pain that haunts him!
"Shhh..." I cooed, pressing my forehead against his, my hands gently cradling his neck. "We will be fine. Everything will remain as it is. Our child, our love, can never bring harm to us."
"I fear that our child will become a monster like me and end up hurting you," he confessed, "I fear myself, Athena. I don't want our child to end up like me. I want them to have a life with you and me, to grow into a good person. But if they set upon this world with your blood-stained on their hands, I don't think that dream can ever come true. It will be the end for us."
"You don't need to fear yourself, Sebastian. You don't," I began, my words soft and gentle, "You saved my life. You didn't take it away. We all go through dark periods in our lives, and it's okay to make mistakes. Making mistakes doesn't necessarily make us bad people. We have faced our share of challenges, and now there is only a little left. We just have to fight for our baby, and then we will be free from all these burdens and worries. Trust me, our child inheriting your qualities won't make them a monster. It will make them a better person, because the one you are from within is everything one could ever wish for, no matter how dark the world once tainted your heart."
He let out a sigh, his embrace around me growing tighter, as if to protect me from any harm. I could feel the depth of his longing, how desperately he wished for me to never vanish from his sight.
I didn't want to vanish from his sight either. I wanted to stay by his side too.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too, my silly wolf," I smiled, leaning in to kiss him, feeling the warmth of his lips respond eagerly to mine. As we pulled apart, he spoke again, his tone tinged with concern.
"Tristan is going to visit us. With the baby bump starting to show, he has doubts and plans to make changes to the medications," he said, planting gentle kisses on my forehead as he spoke. "But don't be afraid, my love. I'm sure it's nothing serious."
"I won't be afraid," I reassured him, a soft chuckle escaping my lips. "However, it seems like our little one is eager to make their presence known. It doesn't want to stay hidden inside any longer."
"Soon. Perhaps in an hour."

"So it seems like the growth is still the same, if not more," Tristan spoke, a hint of worry evident in his voice. "I was expecting some changes."
"What kind of changes?" Sebastian inquired. "A decrease in the growth?"
"No— I mean, yes!" Tristan exclaimed, his words rushed. "I was hoping to see the fetus's growth stabilise, but..." He paused, furrowing his brow with concern. "This is going to be challenging to control." Today, Tristan seemed more stressed than usual, a weight of worry hanging heavy in his demeanour as he examined my symptoms.
"Tristan, what's wrong?" I asked, "Are you alright?"
He appeared surprised by my question, emitting a low, nervous chuckle. "Actually, today I delved deeper into your case and was trying to figure out if any medication would be effective for your condition. I ran a few tests on a few animals to see if anything will work, and as you know, I've prescribed you numerous medications and therapies, but they haven't yielded significant results. So now, we have to shift our focus and rely on one drug at a time. This way, we can minimise the risk to the child's health and development while attempting to control the growth."
Ah, so this was the reason for his stress. And indeed, the lines of worry etched on Sebastian's forehead mirrored the concern.
"So you're saying we'll solely depend on one medication now?" He asked.
"Yes," he confirmed. "As I mentioned when I took the case, the chances of finding something that works are slim. I can't hide the fact that as her delivery approaches, things are going to get more challenging."
Sebastian held my hand, gently squeezing it, his eyes conveying an assurance that everything would be alright, even when everything seemed wrong at that moment.
"It's okay," I reassured, determined, "I don't care how tough things get for me. Just give me something that will help me get through, okay?"
"I understand, and I'm doing my best to find a solution for you. You have to trust me," Tristan replied.
"We do trust you, Tristan," Sebastian spoke, his voice laced with sincerity. "That's why we sought your help. Just do your best—"
Sebastian's words were abruptly cut off by a loud sound that reverberated through the room—the sound of the mansion's door being forcefully flung open.
Startled and confused, our collective gaze shifted towards the doorway. My heart raced, uncertainty gripping me tightly.
I watched as a familiar figure emerged from the entrance, his presence commanding attention. My lips parted in surprise, and a subtle furrow formed between my brows.
What was he doing here?
