My Cursed Sadistic Alpha: Sebastian's Curse

Igniting Sparks

Athena

My senses stirred as a gentle hand glided across my cheek, rousing me from my slumber. Reluctant to open my eyes, I buried my face into the pillow only to be met with a melodic chuckle that instantly revealed the mischievous culprit.

"Time to wake up, my love. We have somewhere important to be." He murmured.

"Where?" I mumbled, rolling on my side, the remnants of drowsiness clinging to me like a stubborn fog.

"For your checkup. I spoke with Tristan and he'll be seeing you today."

In an instant, all traces of sleepiness dissipated into thin air. I jolted upright, catching him off guard as he blinked in surprise.

"Really? You spoke to him?"

"Yes, I did," He recovered out of the startled daze quicker than I'd thought and sat beside me, "He has encountered countless unusual cases, some even bearing similarities to ours though albeit in different forms. So he's optimistic that we can find a way out."

"Oh," His words gave me a bit of hope but that was not it.

Lingering doubts and worrisome thoughts cast their long shadows across my mind. Hope had often proven a fickle companion, merely ushering in pain and suffering as my life unfolded.

Noticing my expression, he cupped my face with his hand, "Hey, what's wrong?"

In his blue eyes, a deep well of love swirled, offering solace in the face of my inner turmoil.

"Do you think we'll be able to save our baby?" Without any hesitation, I had let out the question.

His gaze softened and he pulled me close, our foreheads touching in an intimate embrace, "I believe it, Athena. I won't allow anything to harm you or our baby. Just have faith."

"It'll be tough. We might end up losing and—"

"I refuse to let anything slip through our fingers. This time, we will prevail," Determination resonated in his voice, "Just leave it to me. It doesn't matter if the reports turn negative; we are going to make it through."

His assurance wasn't enough, but it did melt my fears away. I knew he was the one whom I could rely on. He was here, willing to weather the highs and lows by my side, my heart swelled. For the first time in my life, I wouldn't have to face the battles alone. The person holding my hand, and guiding me was none other than the one I had always dreamt of having close to me— My mate.

"Right," I nodded, struggling to contain my emotions. "Maybe our baby knows it too." A smile tugged at my lips.

"What?"

I pulled back slightly, meeting his gaze. "Our little one senses that you will protect us."

Taking his hand, I placed it on my belly. "Our baby didn't feel safe enough to make itself known in your absence, but as soon as you arrived, it decided to announce its presence," I chuckled. "You are the one who makes us feel safe. And when the baby mama is safe, the baby is happy too."

The emotions etched on his face spoke volumes, yet he didn't utter a single word. His eyes remained fixed on our entwined hands, conveying a depth of sentiment he couldn't verbalise.

He and I had always struggled with words when it came to expressing our feelings.

"I never thought you would deem me worthy after everything I've done to you," he sighed, guilt weighing heavily in his voice. "I... just, thank you. Thank you for trusting me and giving me this chance."

At first, I didn't get the chance to say anything as he hugged me, securing me in his tight embrace. But then as I wrapped my arms back around him, the words seemed to find a way out on their own, "Don't blame yourself anymore. We have moved past that."

He nodded, still not letting me go.

"Also, thanks for choosing such great books to have on the shelf. I can't even recall when I fell asleep," The laughter bubbled forth easily.

"Really? Are they that boring?"

"I can't vouch for all of them, but the one I picked turned out to be a lacklustre thriller, with a series of misplaced events.

"Damn, I knew it," He cursed under his breath.

"Wait, what?"

"Well, there are a few that Jake insisted on having. I have been warned that his taste was subpar but didn't believe it since he insisted he has the best taste for books. However, now I know his choice sucks."

A chuckle slipped past my lips, "Well, at least his questionable choices helped me fall asleep. So, I suppose the rest of them will serve their purpose."

"Still I'll pick some good books for you myself. I can't afford for my mate to get bored."

"I won't be, especially since I want all your attention on me and our baby," the words spilt out instinctively. "So promise me you won't go anywhere, okay?"

This time a laugh slipped past his lips; he looked at me in amusement.

"Really?"

oh no.

"I mean, it's..."

What do I say?! God.

"It's alright. No need for explanations," Thankfully he mercifully reduced my struggle by not dragging it further, "But you do need to get ready. Do you need my help?"

The mere thought of it caused my cheeks to flush, and he knew precisely why he asked.

"No," I stammered, trying my best to conceal the embarrassment that coloured my face. "I can handle it myself."

I hurriedly rose from the bed and made my way towards the bathroom.

"You sure? The dress has a zipper though," he teased, his mischievous grin palpable in his voice. I resisted the temptation to steal a glance back at him, knowing that his devilish expression would only test the limits of my sanity.

My cheeks must be burning red till now.

"It's not that I lack hands," I retorted, my voice resounding from where I stood, my feet hesitating just outside the bathroom door.

"But it'll be a struggle," his voice drew nearer, his footsteps echoing in my ears. "I wouldn't want my mate to go through the trouble of unzipping something that I had zipped up before coming here."

Well yeah, he had been the one to zip up this dress of mine before left.

Unbeknownst to me, goosebumps prickled across my skin, my heart quickened its pace, and my breaths turned heavy. Was it desire or the pent-up longing of the past six months? I couldn't discern the cause, but something kept me rooted to the spot, unable to take that final step and enter the bathroom.

Before I could make a decision, his hands tenderly settled on either side of my waist from the back, drawing me closer until his chin rested on my shoulder.

As my back pressed against his firm frame, I could feel the rhythmic thud of his heart and the contours of his muscles pressing against my skin through the delicate fabric of my dress.

"Well..." He brushed my hair aside, his breath grazing my neck as he inhaled my scent. His fingers grazed the sensitive skin there, teasingly light before he tugged at the zip, "Should I unzip this?"

I knew he did not intend to take this too far. He and I, both had been apart for months, and our feral sides craved the closeness and provided what we were giving them, the mere hugs and touches we sneaked through the conversation were not enough.

To be honest, it was not enough for me either.

Resisting the allure of Sebastian Valdez as he was then was challenging, but denying the gentler, calmer, and more understanding version of him was even more difficult.

"Just the zipper?" I sought for my own confirmation that he wasn't going to take it too far.

He fell silent for a few seconds. Of course, it was not hard to point out that I was freaking out from within.

"Yes," He breathed out, his heavy breath clearly giving it away that it was as hard for him to resist this desire as for me, "Just the Zipper."

But I had to.

Desire gnawed upon me, accompanied by a flood of conflicting thoughts; At the same time, the memories I yearned to forget were trying to swarm their way back, their claws like sharp edges of knives and they drew black, black ink of the darkness of those past events I'd been through— The journey I had endured to get here, where I was today.

So I needed to stop.

He too...needed to stop.

"Okay," I whispered, a firm resolve taking hold.

And then, gently he pulled down the zipper. Savouring each moment of closeness doing so to seize as much moment and closeness as he could from this small task. His fingers brushing against my cold skin, awakened sparks I hadn't felt forever.

I had to hold my breath until he finally withdrew his hands.

"Get ready, love," he murmured in my ear.

Nodding silently, I rushed into the bathroom, fearing that if I lingered any longer, my sanity would be lost amidst our overwhelming desires.
