Chapter 119. After Attack
Chapter 119. After Attack
Love
After the fight, we attended to the injured. It was all hands on deck. Many were injured, and one unfortunately lost their lives. I was so tired after running around on my feet for hours helping at the border.
" Let's go take a shower. Everything is done here anyway," Zeyneb said. I nodded and allowed her to guide me out of the clearing. I rested my hand against her shoulder as we went to the packhouse. Reaching there, I was happy that no rogue managed to get through and everyone was safe.
The pack members acknowledged us, and I was surprised by the utmost respect they gave me.
" They still remember you as their Alpha's Love. To them, you're their true Luna," Zeyneb said. I smiled, remembering their love for me.
" Yeah, and everyone is saying great things about you after the border attack. You saved many warriors, you know," Michael joined us. I felt a little embarrassed to receive such a compliment.
" I'm just glad it's over. However, I worry that we shall be attacked again," I sighed.
" We?" they asked in unison. I rolled my eyes, a smile playing on my lips.
" I want to be more involved in the pack this time," I told them. Before Ellis and I separated, I wasn't actively part of the pack. We attended events together, but that was as far as it went. But now, things are different. I was older now, and the pack's safety was important. It was my children's pack. Their heritage and I'd be damned if I didn't fight for it.
I took a shower in one of the guests' bedrooms and changed into shorts and a tank top. I was on my way downstairs when I heard muffled cries. I followed the sound, and outside the pack house in the corner, on a dark spot, a girl sat in a fetal position, sobbing. I crouched and asked gently,
" Hey, What are you doing here?" she nodded yes, but refused to look up.
I could smell her fear from the girl.
" Look at me," I commanded gently. She didn't oblige. I stayed there and spoke calmly to her. She slowly looked up at me. I almost staggered when she looked into my eyes. Her eyes were intriguing. They were glass-like with multiple colors. Her pupils were black, and immediately after, a golden color mixed with violet surrounded her pupils. Her iris was blue, and encircling it was an opaque circle. Her eyes were shining.
' Beautiful,' my lycan was lost in her gaze, and so was I. She was truly enchanting, with platinum-white curls framing her face. She seemed so ethereal.
" Who are you?" I couldn't recognize my voice.
" Apphia," she whispered.
I got to my feet and extended my hand toward her. She rejected my offer and stood up on her own. She put on glasses hastily.
" Are you from this pack, Apphia?" I asked. She stared at me for what felt like minutes, but it wasn't before she shook her head.
" No," she was hiding her face from me. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable, but I couldn't help it. I was curious to see her face.
" Who are you here with?"
" My brother,"
" Can I meet your brother?" I asked. She glanced at me for a second, her eyes agitated, and her hands shook in fear. Something was going on.
" Apphia, I'm the Luna of this pack, and if something is wrong, I can help you," I told her.
" It's nothing, Luna," she said, her voice still shaking. I felt a presence behind me, and I turned. It was an omega. He bowed,
" Luna Love, everyone is waiting for you at the meeting,"
I nodded and dismissed him. I sighed and extended my hand to touch her arm comfortingly. She jumped back and gasped.
" Is everything okay? Are you feeling dizzy?" I inquired, worried.
" Blood," she sputtered. None of what she said made sense. I had just taken a shower, and I was sure I didn't smell like blood.
" I was at the border,"
" Someone is here for you," she said quietly. I stared at her in confusion. There was no one else here for me, but I was proven wrong when someone cleared their throat. I looked at the intruder. It was another omega.
" Meeting," I sighed. The man looked at his boots and nodded.
" I should go, too," Apphia said and turned quickly. I watched as she disappeared into the packhouse. I was deeply touched by her for an unknown reason and she consumed my thoughts. The poor girl was frightened by something, but she refused to open up. I will have to find her later.
The servant led me to the dungeons. Jace, Zeyneb, and Michael were there. The rogue I captured was bound against the wall. He was rough in his appearance and had old and new scars on his body. He glared at me with hate, but I was unflinching.
" Has he said anything yet?" I asked, keeping my eyes on the rogue.
" No, he refuses to talk even after being tortured,"
" Why did you attack this pack?" I asked coldly.
" I don't know," he answered. Everyone was surprised that he answered after being quiet for so long.
" Who is your boss?" I asked.
" I don't know,"
Zeyneb had enough of him not knowing and punched him, breaking his big nose. She continued to torture the rogue expertly. I smirked, thinking of my best friend, Luis. They would get along famously.
" I don't know! I don't know my boss!" the rogue cried, having enough now.
" What do you mean you don't know, asshat. You were clearly the leader of the group," Jace growled.
" My team of rogues were recruited by an alpha not long ago. I don't know his name or anything about him. He sent us here to attack and kill as many as we could. He would reward us handsomely when we got back!"
We all shared a glance, having one suspect in mind. Michael pulled out his phone and showed a picture of Maleck. The man nodded, looking defeated,
" That mother fucker wants war with us even after my warning," Zey sneered.
" Then it's war he'll get," Michael gritted his teeth. We turned and left the dungeons.
Jace told me what had been happening in the pack for the last month. I can't believe Ellis didn't tell me there was another attack before this. I hated that he couldn't share what was troubling him with me.
Ellis already had people looking at Maleck, but they didn't have any news of his whereabouts or the location of his pack.
I stayed in the packhouse for a while, looking for Apphia, but all the visiting guests were gone, and I couldn't find any information about her. Her name wasn't shown on the guest list. I didn't even know her brother's name. I wish I had done more.
' Me too,' Vee whimpered.
Jace drove me back to the city. I had not talked to my mate or children the whole day. I was sure they were worried.
" Ellis is still mind-linking me," Jace said.
" Me too, he was worried about you, Love," Zey shook her head.
" He hates that I told you what was happening. He hates it more that you went there and put your life in danger,"
Ellis was protective of me. He always kept me from the pack business, but it couldn't be this way anymore. I wasn't a little girl anymore. I wanted to share pack responsibilities with him. I wanted to be his Luna.
" He can't keep me away for a long time. I want to be part of the pack, like really take responsibility," I told them. Zey smiled,
" You're going to be a great Luna,"
" Thanks,"
I finally checked my phone. I found a message in my email.
[ You are a skilled fighter. It was refreshing to watch]
