After making the decision to marry Justin, Samantha and him began to prepare for their wedding. They chose the wedding date, selected rings, picked out wedding gowns, and had their wedding photos taken.
In order to forget about Ethan, Samantha cut off all contact with him. She didn't answer his calls or messages, and eventually, she decided to block his number and social media account.
Seeing the mark indicating the message wasn't delivered, Ethan's face turned cold. He was furious and slammed his expensive phone onto the ground, startling Jade, who was coming in with documents.
Ignoring the shattered phone, Ethan said coldly, "Go and buy me a new phone."
As Jade was about to leave, he couldn't help but turn back and say, "Mr. Steele, when I escorted Miss Miller home that night, she admitted to liking you. So, there might be some misunderstanding between you two. Instead of letting the anger persist, why not clarify things?"
Ethan looked at him without confirming or denying, "She admitted she likes me?"
Jade nodded, "Miss Miller admitted it herself."
If Jade understood correctly, Samantha did confess her feelings for him.
A faint smile appeared on Ethan's face, and the icy demeanor began to melt away visibly. "I see. You can go now. Buy me a new phone."
Seeing the change in the CEO's mood, Jade felt relieved and left the office.
Ethan, left alone, couldn't contain his happiness. If Samantha truly liked him, he decided to give her another chance.
...
The next afternoon, Samantha, as usual, went to pick up Charlotte from kindergarten. The three little ones happily walked out hand in hand.
From a distance, Samantha, standing at the school gate with a smiling face, could be seen. Charlotte excitedly announced, "Brothers, Mommy is going to marry Godfather soon! I'm going to have a daddy, and I won't envy you guys anymore."
Shocked, Alex and Noah asked, "Mommy is getting married? To whom? Uncle Justin?"
Charlotte nodded vigorously, "Yeah, it's Godfather. Soon, he'll be my daddy!"
Alexander and Noah were taken aback, and their expressions changed. Alexander, upset, exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell us earlier?"
Charlotte pouted, "I forgot, okay! I just remembered!"
Alexander, feeling uneasy, ran out of the school gate, arrived in front of Samantha, and urgently asked, "Mommy, are you really going to marry Uncle Justin?"
Samantha, guessing that Charlotte had spilled the beans, did not deny it. Instead, she rubbed the little one's head and nodded, "Yes! I'm going to marry Uncle Justin soon. When the time comes, I'll come to pick you up for the wedding banquet."
Noah, holding Charlotte's hand, walked out and overheard Samantha's words. His eyes turned red instantly.
Mommy was going to marry Uncle Justin.
Then, she wouldn't be their mommy anymore.
While Alexander was emotionally expressive, Noah was the opposite. Suppressing his emotions, he listened to Samantha's words. However, tears silently streamed down his face.
Charlotte, unaware of why they were so sad, started crying too.
Tears, like pearls, dropped down from their eyes, making them look like little rabbits.
Samantha comforted Noah for a long time until he had cried enough. She then sent them back to the Steele family's driver.
After getting on the car, Noah took out his phone and called Ethan. However, it prompted that the other party's phone was turned off.
He repeatedly dialed Ethan's number, but the result was the same--no answer. Helpless, he urged the driver, "Uncle, please drive faster. I have something important to tell my dad... "
He had to inform his father immediately that his mom was going to marry Uncle Justin, and his dad needed to stop it. Time was running out.
Meanwhile, Samantha, instead of hurrying home, drove to a nearby restaurant. Justin had been waiting at the entrance.
Seeing them approaching, he smiled and took Charlotte's hand, reprimanding, "I told you I would pick her up. Why didn't you listen?"
Samantha smiled, "I know you're busy with work, and picking her up is not tiring!"
Changing the subject, she continued, "Have you ordered the meal?"
Justin nodded, "Yes! I ordered according to your instructions! It'll be ready to eat when we get there."
Samantha gave him a gentle smile.
With Charlotte in the middle, the three walked into the restaurant, portraying the image of a happy family of three.
After dinner, instead of driving, the three of them took a leisurely walk home. Charlotte, experiencing the joy of having a father for the first time, asked cheerfully, "Mommy, Godfather, when are you getting married? Can I be the flower girl?"
Justin, looking at her face identical to Samantha's, liked it very much. He bent down, picked her up, and said tenderly, "Of course! Charlotte will be the most beautiful and adorable flower girl."
Charlotte happily hugged his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Great! I want to wear a princess dress and a crystal crown. Mommy usually doesn't let me, saying it's too troublesome."
Justin indulged her, pinching her nose gently. "Alright, Godfather promises you anything!"
Watching their interaction, Samantha shook her head helplessly. "You shouldn't spoil her too much. There should still be rules, or she might become too unruly..."
Justin dismissed it, "Girls need to be pampered and spoiled..." He looked at Charlotte, asking, "Right, Godfather is right, isn't he?"
Charlotte nodded vigorously, "Godfather is right, very right."
Samantha was speechless at their antics.
...
Ethan stood under the shade of the trees at the entrance of the community, glaring at the seemingly happy family of three as if he were a beast on the brink of madness.
He called Samantha on his work phone. Under the streetlight, he clearly saw Samantha take out her phone, glance at the caller ID, and then deliberately hang up, putting it back in her pocket.
His large hand tightened suddenly.
The phone almost crumbled under the pressure.
His thin lips pressed into a tight line, turning deathly pale.
His icy eyes flickered with a sporadic, dark light, and the surrounding temperature plummeted.
After enduring for a while, he couldn't hold back any longer. Striding towards Samantha, a raging fire seemed to burn around him, capable of incinerating everything.
Samantha, unaware, chatted and laughed with Justin.
Suddenly, a dark shadow enveloped them, followed by Ethan's face, uglier than Demon.
His eagle-like eyes stared coldly at Samantha's frozen face, and an overwhelming aura made her almost suffocate.
Seeing him, Justin instinctively moved to shield Samantha behind him.
Samantha immediately pressed his arm, stopping him.
Seeing their close interaction, Ethan's eyes narrowed, and the air around them became thin.
Samantha told Justin, "You take Charlotte upstairs. I have something to talk to him."
She had made up her mind. It was time to clear things up with Ethan. Continuing like this was unfair to Justin and also to Ethan.
Justin, worried about Samantha, hesitated before agreeing and left with Charlotte.
Samantha looked up at the man standing in the backlight. Her throat felt bitter, and she realized she had a thousand words to say but didn't know where to start.
Ethan tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Samantha, you've really outdone yourself..."
Compared to the coldness in his eyes, the smile added a touch of sinister charm.
