Chapter 29: Jean Broody vs. Bradley Jackson ~ When suppressed desires explode… Enter the twin!

***

Lunch was a tense affair. Each man was lost in his own thoughts. Bradley could tell something was bothering Jean and wondered what he’d done to upset the man. After all, he wasn’t the initiator of what had happened in that playroom. He didn’t know what to think. Jean, on the other hand, couldn’t believe he was still upset. He’d never been one to get upset over trivial matters such as…jealousy? Was that jealousy he was feeling? Who got jealous over a dead person, he fumed.

He could feel Bradley’s questioning gaze on him and knew he had to say something but nothing seemed appropriate. Neither could eat his food. They eventually gave up the pretense of eating and just sat quietly. Finally, Bradley got up and began to clear the table. When he came back from the kitchen to take Jean’s plate, the doctor was on his feet, staring down at his virtually untouched food unseeingly.

“Hey?” Bradley called out tentatively. “I need to take your…” He trailed off when beautiful blue eyes, filled with so much panic turned on him. Bradley just couldn’t hold his tongue anymore. “Care to tell me what’s bugging you?” He rasped.

The panic in Jean’s eyes disappeared so fast Bradley thought he’d imagined it. “Nothing.” Jean shrugged.

“I see.” Bradley frowned, not seeing at all. “What is going on here, Jean?” His voice was quiet. “I mean upstairs…”

“Just helping you get some relief that’s all.” Jean cut him off smoothly. “Don’t read anything into it. After all, you did same for me. One good turn deserves another…right?” Jean said dryly. He sounded almost bored. Jean had never been more proud of himself. He hoped Bradley was buying it. He unflinchingly returned the soldier’s stare.

Bradley stared at Jean, wishing he had the luxury to trivialize what was going on as Jean was doing. But could he blame the guy? After all, apart from the fact that the man was straight, he never took anything seriously unless it had something to do with human life. That, however, didn’t make Jean’s words and nonchalance hurt any less. Maybe to Jean, it was nothing but to him, it was a big deal.

That first time he’d sucked Jean off, he’d done it without his consent, which he still felt guilty about. But what had happened in that playroom had been a mutual understanding. And that meant something to him. For the first time in a very long time, he felt fulfilled but at the same time, helpless because he didn’t know how to deal with the overwhelming emotions within. And so although he knew he couldn’t blame Jean for downplaying what had happened, he couldn’t ignore it either.

“Jean I…” Bradley’s voice sounded scratchy even to his own ears. He took a deep breath and flicked his tongue against his lips in agitation.

“Don’t do that,” Jean whispered, his eyes locking on Bradley’s invitingly wet lips. He wanted to taste those lips so bad. God, the man made him weak.

“Do what?” Bradley whispered back, his eyes dropping to Jean’s lips too. He swallowed hard.

“Lick your lips.” Jean breathed, unconsciously moving closer to Bradley so that they could feel each other’s breath on their faces.

Bradley visibly shuddered as a shiver of excitement sizzled through him. Why did he find the man so sexy, he screamed inside. But outwardly, he remained calm. “I had to. They were dry…” Both men jerked apart when they heard the loud clearing of a throat.

“Jesus, Dean!” Jean gasped. “Are you trying to kill me? What the fuck are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same,” Dean said with a slight frown, his eyes on Bradley.

“I fucking live here, fool.”

“Jackson?” Dean didn’t just look surprised, he looked confused. “What are you doing here?”

“Hey, Dean.” Bradley greeted as he grabbed Jean’s plate. “Good to see you. It’s been a while. How are Kayla and the little lady doing?”

“They’re fine. But…” Before Dean could formulate a question, Bradley had disappeared into the kitchen.

The brothers stared at each other. Dean’s eyes, which were exactly as his brother’s, were filled with questions, whilst Jean’s held a warning. No words were uttered. Bradley came back in to find the two men at the exact same spot he’d left them…staring at each other without talking. He couldn’t help but feel they were having a silent conversation though. And that reminded him of a movie he’d once seen about some identical twins who had supernatural powers and could communicate with each other without actually opening their mouths.

“Creepy,” Bradley muttered. “I’ll err…leave you two to talk.” With that, he left the twins and went into his room.

“You didn’t answer my question.” Jean rasped as turned and started towards the stairs. “What are you do…”

“What was that?” Dean interrupted, following Jean up the stairs. “Were you two about to…”

“I don’t know what you thought you saw.” Jean snapped.

“Aw come on, don’t insult my intelligence. You two looked like you’d been about to kiss.”

“Well, you need to get your eyes checked because we were not. And even if we were, what’s your problem?” Jean whirled around to face his brother. “Are you suddenly a homophobe or something?”

“I’ll pretend you didn’t just ask me that stupid question,” Dean muttered as he moved past Jean and went to the bar to pour himself a drink. “I’ll tell you why I came.” He grabbed the bottle of Remy Martin and his half-filled glass and headed for Jean’s bedroom.

With a groan, Jean grabbed an empty glass and followed his brother into his room. He wasn’t ready to tell his nosy twin anything personal about himself and Bradley. He was still processing for goodness’ sake. But he knew he had to come up with a likely story to explain what Dean had seen because his brother was like a dog with a bone when he thought he was on to something. Dean wasn’t going to let go till he told him something sensible. He went to join Dean in the seating area and poured himself a drink. He downed it at a go and poured himself another.

“So…why did you come?” Jean looked at his brother.

“You really think I’d receive such a call from you and not know something was up?” Dean stared Jean down.

“I…”

“That was clearly a cry for help, you moron.” Dean chuckled. “You thought you could fool me with that cheerful countenance? I know you for fuck’s sake. You tell me you’re home for the rest of the day and you didn’t think I’d find that strange?”

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Jean snapped.

“And have you lie?” Dean chuckled. “I wanted to look you in the eye whilst I asked you. So I come here and what do I find? Listen, you can fuck anyone you want. I’ve never had a problem with that and I’m not about to start now. But I can bet my left testicle that there’s a problem. You just got angry for fuck’s sake. That’s so unlike you. And that means one thing. You are scared.” Dean took a sip of his drink, watching his brother the whole time. “I’m not leaving here till you tell me what’s up with you. So better start talking. What the fuck is Jackson doing in your home?”

Jean took a sip of his drink. “I’ll tell you everything. You just have to promise not to tell anyone.”

“Anyone, anyone?” Dean asked, referring to their brothers.

“Especially them, Dean. You’ll understand when you hear the full story.”

“Wait, Ty in on whatever this is?”

Jean grimaced, knowing his brother was going to be pissed off at the answer he was going to give. After all, he and Ty were best friends. Naturally, Dean would think Ty should have told him whatever was going on.

“Yes.” Jean sighed.

“The asshole.” He muttered. “This had better be good. Start talking.”

And Jean talked.
