Chapter 119
Chapter 119
Leah's POV
As I lay in the backseat of the car, after having spent a whole morning in the cemetery, I couldn't help but wonder how my life had started to feel like soap operas on daytime cable TV. And it all started because of Finn. As soon as I found Finn, I started to get into trouble.
According to Jorah, my second brother Leo had something to do with Finn's abnormality.
I had been trying to contact him all these days, but it turned out that nobody had his contact number.
It was almost like Leo was transparent in my family.
Lucian didn't get along with Leo, so I couldn't call him and ask. I could have called my Father to ask him to summon Leo, but I really didn't want to bother His Majesty the King for my little personal drama.
In the end, I had to contact Jorah, who refused to shed light on anything relating to Leo.
So, I guessed I had to confront Lucas.
He asked Jorah to dig the dirt on Finn, so he must have known how to contact Leo.
And Finn...
Ah, Finn.
Where is he right now? What is he doing? Is he missing me? Or...
Is he trying to avoid seeing me?
As Troy parked the car in the parking lot outside the car dealership, my eyes widened in awe at the sight before me.
Sal's Auto World. The sign above our heads said.
"Has Sal expanded this place?" I asked Troy. "I remember it was just only half of this size a few years ago..."
"Sal has made a lot of money these years. He's a well-to-do guy." Troy opened the door for me.
I looked up.
The gleaming glass and metal structure towers were over me, reflecting the bright sun in a dazzling display of brilliance.
The entrance was flanked by two towering pillars, adorned with the dealership's logo in bold lettering.
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by a wave of cool air, with the hum of the air conditioning providing a welcome relief from the heat outside. The polished marble floors shone like mirrors, reflecting the rows upon rows of sleek, expensive cars that stretch out before me.
"Troy Greer! You son of a bitch! I can't believe that you're here! Come here! Let me take a good look at you!" A loud, scratchy voice appeared.
As I looked up, I caught the sight of a sprightly old man with a beaming smile. His eyes twinkled with mirth and his energy was infectious. He was dressed in a sharp suit, but he moved with the agility of someone much younger.
Troy looked awkward and whispered to me, "This is Sal Chapelle."
"This is Sal?" My eyes widened with confusion. "I remember him being a much older guy..."
"What can I say? Apparently, he's found himself the Spring of Ponce de León," Troy shrugged.
"Welcome, welcome!" Sal approached us and exclaimed, his voice ringing with warmth. "Who's that lovely young woman standing next to you, Troy? Isn't she a doll? I don't see an engagement ring on her fingers, Troy. What's the matter with you? Is the rumor true? Are you really gay or something?"
Troy cleared his voice and said, "Sal, this is Miss Lewyn. I work for her now."
"You're working for a woman now?!" Sal stared at Troy with an incredible look on his face.
Troy narrowed his eyes and said, "Mind your language, Sal. This is the new VP for UniHealer. Don't you watch the news on TV?"
"Watching the news on TV? I've got better things to do." Sal took a glance at Troy and said. Then he turned to me and said, "Miss Lewyn, what happened to you? Why isn't there a ring on your fingers? You're so beautiful and attractive."
"Let's just say I've got better things to do, Mr. Chapelle," I said.
"There's no better thing on earth than getting married to a man, Miss Lewyn," Sal said with a smirk.
"Really? I don't see you getting married to a man," I said.
Sal's face turned red before turning white. Then, he chuckled awkwardly while looking at Troy.
"She's got a sense of humor. She's funny. I love funny girls." Sal mumbled. "Damn, if only I was 30 years younger."
"Miss Lewyn is here to look for a car. Do you sell cars, Sal?" Troy tried to change the subject.
"Sure, cars. Of course. "What can I help you with today, Troy?"
Looking at all the posh cars in the showroom, Troy hesitated, looking a little unsure.
Sal sensed his hesitation and immediately sprang into action.
"I know exactly what you need," he declared, striding confidently over to a sleek Rolls-Royce that gleamed in the bright showroom lights. "This is the car for you, Troy. And your girlfriend will love it too."
"Sal, again, Miss Lewyn's my boss, not my girlfriend..." Troy rubbed his forehead and said.
Sal ignored him and kept on gesturing to the car, his hands flapping excitedly. "Look at her lines! Look at her curves! This is a car that will make heads turn."
Even though Sal was talking about the car, his eyes kept peeking at me. He launched into a sales pitch that was so lively and compelling that it was hard not to be swept up in it.
"Think about it," he said, his eyes sparkling. "When you're cruising down the highway with your girl by your side, the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, you'll feel like you're on top of the world. This car will make you feel alive!"
"Sal, Miss Lewyn is buying her husband a car as a gift," Troy said.
"Husband?! She's married?!" Sal's eyes widened. "Why would a woman buy her husband a car?"
"Because she's in love with him and she wants to pamper him, you old fool." I heard a voice coming from the entrance.
I turned and saw Lucas walking into the shop.
He looked terrible. I didn't expect him to be so pale and haggard.
It had been a week since I left him in Mick's mansion.
His pale face was drawn and haggard with grief. His eyes were sunken, with dark circles etched deeply beneath them, betraying the sleepless nights he had spent since my departure. The once-tidy hair that adorned his head now lay unkempt, as though he had long since given up on even the most basic grooming habits.
As he trudged toward me, I could see his steps were heavy and slow with his shoulders hunched at the weight of his sadness. Jorah followed him, trying to hold him, but he couldn't do it, because he was afraid of being scolded.
"Leah..." Lucas grabbed my wrists and pulled me into his arms. "Come... Come with me..."
"Stay away from me, Lucas!" I struggled in his arms. He smelt like pine trees and cigarettes. "You have no right to walk into this place and drag me away like this!"
"Mr. Farrow, would you please take your hands off Miss Lewyn right now?"
"Who the fuck are you?" Lucas stared at Troy with furrowed eyebrows. Then, he looked at me and asked, "Seriously? You've found yourself a new boyfriend?!"
