Chapter 19
Chapter 19
"So about your honeymoon–"
"There is no honeymoon," Cassian interrupted his mother halfway through.
Stella frowned. "What are you saying? You are a newly wedded couple. You should enjoy some time away from all these pack things. It's for the better—"
"Mom," Cassian said sternly. "I told you. There's no honeymoon."
Mr. Ansaldo, Cassian's father, cleared his thoughts, sensing the awkward conversation. "Darling, let the kids decide these matters. It's better not to push these things. Let them move at their own pace."
I smiled back at him when he glanced at me for a few seconds. "For now, it's better if we give some time to our new Luna to get familiar with the pack."
Stella sighed in disappointment before she put a smile on her face. "That is right. I should have thought about this. I will introduce you to the pack members today and we can spend some time with them to get you familiar with them. There are a lot of girls your age in our pack. Maybe you'll find a good friend." She gleamed.
I forced a smile. "I hope so,"
"So if everything is sorted out then I'm going. I have training to attend." Cassian said before he walked out of the room. I glared at his back as he left.
That stone head man didn't even bother to look at me before leaving.
__
"This is Lily," Stella introduced a lady as we entered the pack clinic. "She's our pack healer."
Lily smiled at me. "Hello, it's nice to meet you, Luna."
"It's nice to meet you too, Lily." I beamed. Lily was wearing a white gown and gloves. She had light brown curly hair and blue-green eyes. She looked beautiful with a bright smile and light freckles on her face.
Lily seemed like a nice person.
"This is Angel, Lima, and Anna. They're my assistants." Lily introduced the other girls in the room. They all said hello to me before going back to do their work.
"What are you working on?" I asked curiously when I saw them boil some herbs.
"One of our pack members is suffering from a bad infection. We are making medicine for them." She explained as she cut a few more herbs.
I nodded in understanding as I watched them.
"Then we will let you guys do your work. Come on, Ivy. Let's go and meet the others." Stella tapped on my shoulder.
"See you all later then," I smiled at Lily before following Stella out of the clinic.
So far, we have met the soldiers, the omegas, the farmers, and the healers. The only nice people out of them were the healers and the omegas. The rest of them only looked at me in disdain. I knew the soldiers were laughing inside when they saw me. It was evident from the way they talked to me. They think I'm not worthy of their respect because I'm an omega and a rogue.
I don't understand why they think that. I'm not a rogue now. I'm part of their pack. Is it because they think I grew up with no skills? And me being an omega? Omegas aren't weak. Luna Evelyn has already proved that. So what's their problem?
The farmers didn't even pay any mind to me when I went to meet them. They just simply said their name and moved on with their chores. I can't lie and say that I didn't feel hurt. It's like they're not even willing to give me a chance.
The omegas were hesitant to approach me at first but some warm words from me drew them out of their shells. They were happy one of the pack leaders is now an omega. It feels like they are now sick of being considered weak because of their gender.
Well, day one of meeting the pack members wasn't bad even though I haven't met all of them. They're all a little hostile towards me. Maybe it'll change if I converse with them often.
Nothing is unchangeable. I can do this.
I put on a smile as I walked towards the next place Stella was taking me.
___
The hardest thing I had to go through after coming here is getting used to technology. I don't know how a lot of things work in this house.
People here use smartphones which is amazing. They said we can hear and see other people through that in real time. I've never seen something like that before.
They also have TVs, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
It's pretty cool what technology can do.
But for someone like me who was never used to things like these, it is a headache.
Right now I'm in the shower, trying to figure out how to stop the boiling water. It wasn't hot like this before. What the hell happened?
I tried everything but nothing works. I need help.
There's no other way than to go out and ask for help. I wrapped the towel around myself before slowly opening the door. Maybe I can call Stella using the phone she gave me. She must know how to turn the water back to normal.
I peeked out and sighed when I saw no one. The phone was on the nightstand and I had to tiptoe towards it because my feet were wet. I dried my hand before picking up the phone. The touch screen wasn't working because of my wet fingers.
"Damn…How do I use this?" I fumbled with the phone for a few moments before I heard a sound that made my heart jump out of my body.
"What are you doing?" Cassian frowned as he scanned me from head to toe.
I was frozen, cheeks red from the embarrassment of being caught in such a ridiculous situation. "C-Calling?" I stuttered. God, I just want to crawl into a hole and die.
I could see the confusion on his face. The alpha was definitely thinking that I'm some kind of lunatic.
"I needed help," I explained. "The water in the bathroom," I pointed towards the bathroom. "It's hot. I don't know how to change it," I said awkwardly.
Cassian closed his eyes and took a deep breath like he was forcing himself to not say anything. He walked straight to the bathroom without uttering a single word.
I put the phone back down and followed the alpha, curious to know how he turned it back to normal.
"It's done," Cassian did it in a second. The way he easily did it made me feel stupid.
I scratched my head. "Uhh.. thanks…" I chuckled awkwardly, causing him to roll his eyes
"Just finish showering quickly. I need to use the bathroom." He said before walking away. He paused before exiting, turning back to look at me. "And next time you get out of the bathroom, use the robe to cover yourself and not this freaking small towel." His dark eyes raked over me from head to toe before he walked out.
I flushed red from embarrassment. God, what a terrible situation!
___
I should be used to embarrassing situations by now but I still can't handle them. Why the hell is this man sleeping next to me on the bed?
I mean it's his bed and the bed has more than enough room for both of us but still, after acting like I disgust him to even look at me, he's sleeping quite peacefully beside me.
I want to kick him out of the bed so badly.
His scent filled my lungs as I took each breath and my brain can't rest because he is right there at arm's length.
I'm restless. Sleep is out of the question. I'm too terrified about the fact that there's a chance I would roll over towards him in my sleep. Nope. Don't want those types of things to happen and curse my memory forever.
Besides, Cassian isn't trustworthy. What if he kills me in my sleep or something? Okay, maybe that's a stretch. He can't kill me because I'm his mate but he's still not trustworthy. I don't want to let my guard down. Why can't he just go out like he did on our wedding night? He has other places to sleep, right? Can't he just do that every day? Why does he have to make everything hard for me?
I glared at the back of the sleeping alpha. He's facing away from me but I still feel intimidated. His huge and broad form is hard to ignore especially when you are in bed with him.
The bed is drenched in his smell and it is unnecessarily making my heart beat faster.
I flinched when he turned around. God, why can't he wear a shirt?
The blanket slipped down exposing his upper half. His tight muscles flexed as he put his hand under his head.
He looks so sinfully attractive. I wanted to reach out and run my hand over every inch of his body just to know how they feel. I wanted to lay my head on his chest to feel his heartbeat and the warmth of his body.
Wait, what the hell am I thinking?!
Calm down…calm down…It's just the mating pull. It's just the pull…
I faced away from the devil. I need to make plans for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day I'm going to make friends. Stella promised to introduce me to youngsters my age. She wants me to see and learn how people my age are living so I can slowly adapt to that kind of lifestyle.
I hope they treat me a little more nicely than how they did before. They weren't very kind but I'm their Luna now. I'm sure they'll at least behave nicely at least for the sake of it.
