Chapter 37.
Chapter 37.
"I'm gonna kill you!" Edmund jumped at him but his guys stepped between and Nick pulled him back.
"Where the fuck is our sister?" Nick growled and stepped closer.
"Oh, her-" He said and raised his head.
"Yeah, she's a little out of it right now but don't worry, I'll take good care of her. Since her husband couldn't," He said and looked back at me.
That son of a bitch had his days numbered.
I raised my hand and threw the first hit. Asher stumbled back and Nick, Noah and Edmund jumped on the others. He was mine.
Punches were thrown left and right and the guys were drawing blood faster than the others could stand up. They fell to the floor and I threw another punch at Asher, taking his neck and pulling my knee up at his face. I threw another punch and saw his eyes quickly glancing at his men who were laying on the ground getting pounded on three hits at a time.
Edmund jumped over them and ran around the corner from where Asher had come out. Asher stood back up and threw a hit which slammed me square on the jaw.
"GABBY!" Many more men were running out from other rooms and toward where Edmund was.
I heard his scream, I heard the fear in his voice and so did his brothers. We all looked toward the hallway and Asher came at me. I beat him with three hooks and then three more, seeing him as a dead man already and when he fell to the floor I ran past him and down to Edmund.
I ran into the room and that's when I saw her. He was on the floor, his jacket covered her naked body, she was out cold and cradled up in her brothers arms.
The noise canceled out and everything in the room went dark. The only light I could see was the one surrounding her, and it broke me in more ways than I could ever explain, the thought of me being the reason her light was dimming.
I broke her. Whatever led up to this, was my fault.
What had I done...what had I done to the girl who only ever shed light and wanted to be kind. The girl who was already broken when she came to me, with a little glint left, a little core of hope for freedom and I took it and I choked it in my hand, knowingly, purposefully, intentionally. What had I done...
Edmund turned his face. It was like everything happened in slow motion. His canines bared and his eyes glowing. He slowly put her head down and I fell backwards, struggling to keep my balance as I fell to the wall behind me.
He stood up and shifted in the room. His wolf took over and I closed my eyes, preparing for whatever he wanted to do. I didn't blame him for wanting me dead. Honestly, I wanted myself dead right now.
He ran toward me, his wolves head locking in on me and then I was pushed to the side and fell to the floor. Ten men who were running into the room were suddenly turned to a blood bath. Their heads were being bit of and those in the back ran away when they saw what waited for them.
He stepped back, his eyes landed on me and his brothers came running into the room and saw him and then their eyes landed on their sister.
Edmund shifted back and grabbed the clothes of one of the men he'd killed. It was covered in blood and wholes but he put it on as though it was his own.
He rolled up the sleeves and raked hand through his hair.
His eyes went to Gabby before turning to me slowly. My eyes were on her, she looked so lifeless and delicate and broken.
Soemthing came into view and I turned my head slowly, my eyes flickering to keep a straight vision and there was Edmunds hand, reached out to help me up from the floor.
I shook my head and fell on my elbows.
"Come on. Get up."
"It's my fault," I heard the tremble in my voice, one I had only ever heard on time before and that was when my brother left the pack.
Nobody else heard it that time, it was only him as we said goodbye.
Now they all heard it and I didn't care, I couldn't care, there was nothing in me that cared about anything other than the girl being lifted into Nick's arms.
"Yes, it is. It's your fault but it's also going to be you that fixes it," He said.
"We all know it, the witch said so herself. You're mates and you're going to put together what you broke." He reached down and grabbed my hand, pulling me up on my feet.
"And we're not going to let either of you out of our sight until it is done. I don't care if it takes years, you're the only one that can do it," He sounded defeated.
They were all watching me and I saw that they all agreed.
"We have to go, we have to take her home." Nick said and lifted her closer.
Home, she was coming home. Home to where it all began...
Cassy opened the door and ran out in panic when she saw us. She placed her hands on Gabby's head and then quickly ran back to the back of the car and pulled open the trunk.
She came back with a blanket and opened the car door. They placed her in the back of the car with her head resting on Cassy's lap and she placed the blanket she had picked out, over her body.
I heard an engine roaring to life and looked across the road. Edmund had hot wired a car and they guys were getting into it. Noah behind the wheel and Edmund beside him. Nick rode with us.
We were driving down the dark road with no traffic slowing us down. There was no music and the silence was both deafening and peaceful at the same time.
"It's gonna take time-" Nick said and broke the silence. Cassy was asleep in the back seat with her hand laying over Gabby.
"-you're gonna have to be patient. She will fight it, all of it, including herself. Whatever happened to her, it broke the last pieces of humanity she had left. You broke her heart-" He turned his head and looked at me.
"-And your brother broke her soul. Give it time, and we will all be there to make sure she stays safe."
"From me?" I asked lowly in a dark tone.
He looked back out on the road and leaned his head back against the head rest.
"From herself."
We parked the car and the other two were right behind us, parking next to us.
Nick was about to pick up Gabby but I placed my hand on his shoulder and he stepped aside. I lifted her up, pulling her close and locking my eyes on her pale face.
We walked up the stairs and I was heading to my room but then stoped and Cassy asked me what was wrong. I didn't answer her but instead walked down the hallway, closer to the stairs there was a guest room and she opened the door. I placed Gabby down on the bed, pulling the covers up and tucking her in.
I felt the tears pushing behind my eyes and clenched my jaw, biting hard as I cupped her face.
"You're home now." I said and pinched the bridge of my nose.
I couldn't let go of her, feeling her skin and knowing she was here...I couldn't bring myself to go but knowing that if she saw me when she first woke up, it wouldn't make things easier on her.
"I'm so sorry but I promise you-" I said and gently stroked her cheek.
"-i will spend the rest of my life trying fixing this. I'll never give up, no matter how long it takes, I will never leave your side and I will live til I die regretting what I did to you."
I pulled my hand away and wiped my eyes as the tears broke through.
"Fuck." I spat when I closed the door.
Another door opened up and my mother stepped out.
She knew that it wasn't good, she knew something horrible had happened and she knew that it was my fault.
She walked over and went directly to Edmund, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pulled him close to her. At first he was stale, unsure of how to react but then he slowly hugged her back, wrapping his arm around her, tightening them. He burried his face in her neck and her arms tightened as well, stroking the back of his head with her hand.
She pulled away and Edmund turned his head away from us, wiping his eyes and refusing to look up.
"You boys will all get your own rooms up here on the same floor as your sister. This is your home too." She raised her head and gestured with her head for them too follow her.
"Casandra, the room next to this one is free, stay there for as long as you want," She said and smiled. Casandra wiped her tears and nodded her head.
"Boys, you can either choose these two rooms and two of you will share or there are more empty rooms down the hallway that way," She said and pointed down the hall. All three of them walked to the two bedrooms across from Gabby's.
Nick pulled Edmund in under his arm and Noah got his own room.
"Thank you," My mother smiled and bowed her head before turning around about to walk back to her room. She stopped and turned halfway.
"You're going to fix this, Aiden. I know that you will," I saw the disappointment in her eyes as she looked down on the floor and then walked back to her room.
