Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 138

Chapter 138

The following day, at the drama club.

"Hahahahahaha."

Charlotte sat in the chair with her face in her hands, giggling nonstop.

Beside her, Sherry looked at Charlotte, who was giggling, not knowing what she was thinking. She couldn't help but give Carolina a puzzled look and asked with her eyes, "What's wrong with her? Has she lost her mind?"

"I don't know. I was just away for a few days, and she came back from a trip abroad. Why is she acting so strangely?"

Sherry and Carolina exchanged confused glances.

Carolina suddenly stroked her chin, a brilliant light flashing in her eyes, and said, "In my experience, Charlotte should be in love!"

"Charlotte!" shouted Sherry, snapping Charlotte out of her reverie.

She turned around, bewildered. "Huh? What's wrong?"

"Tell me honestly, what have you been through these past few days?" Sherry crossed her arms like a little bully and said aggressively, "Why are you smiling so stupidly? Are you in love?"

Charlotte held her tongue for a moment and then said, "Well..." She coughed awkwardly.

Sherry reacted with disbelief. "It can't be what I think it is?"

Charlotte reassured her, "Have confidence, it's exactly what you think it is!"

In the next moment, Sherry looked at her, slightly narrowing her eyes, a hint of realization flashing in them. "Charlotte, could it be that your dream has come true?"

Charlotte raised her head shyly, glanced at her, twisted her body, and said shyly, "Oh, stop it~"

Sherry took a deep breath and gave a thumbs up, her face filled with admiration. "You're unbelievable! You really did it!"

She hadn't expected Charlotte to actually get together with Kingsley! It was simply too unbelievable!

At that moment, there was a commotion from outside. Charlotte looked up to see Kingsley walking in, surrounded by a bunch of people.

She looked at Kingsley and inexplicably felt a pang of longing. Even though they had only been apart for one night, it felt like a long time. Her eyes stayed fixed on Kingsley, unable to look away.

During the past few days of rehearsals, Charlotte had mainly been with the B-team and the supporting cast, so even though she and Kingsley were in the same place, they didn't necessarily see each other all the time.

Seeing Kingsley about to leave, Charlotte deflated, feeling a little lost.

Why didn't he glance back at her?

Charlotte pondered this as the crowd suddenly gasped.

She looked up subconsciously, only to spot Kingsley, not far away, striding towards her.

In school, Kingsley was the most conspicuous figure, capturing almost everyone's attention.

At that moment, his actions swiftly caught everyone's gaze.

Amidst the sea of shocked stares, Kingsley approached Charlotte. His towering figure blocked the sunlight, and his cool demeanor caused Charlotte to hold her breath involuntarily.

Kingsley reached out, straightening the bow atop Charlotte's head before speaking, "Wait for me; let's have lunch together."

Charlotte's mind went blank.

Surrounded by a spectrum of astonished expressions, Charlotte was stunned herself, nodding almost reflexively, unable to process.

Kingsley faintly tugged at the corner of his lips, displaying a satisfied smile. "Good girl."

The surrounding crowd was speechless with shock.

Who was Kingsley? He was the school's famous Daemon King!

His obsession with cleanliness bordered on the perverse, and he avoided people.

Yet here he was, taking the initiative to approach Charlotte, personally adjusting her attire, inviting her to dine with him, even smiling tenderly!

It was as if the sun had risen in the west; Kingsley seemed possessed today!

As Kingsley departed, almost everyone watched with dazed and bewildered eyes.

Not far away, gazes from the crowd focused on Charlotte, filled with complexity—envy, jealousy, or contempt.

But among them, Ben's gaze was the most piercing.

He appeared somewhat agitated, his eyes reflecting shock, disbelief, and poorly concealed anger.

Charlotte was particularly sensitive to the negative sentiments of onlookers. She frowned, glancing back, only to find Ben engrossed in reading a script, seemingly oblivious to the situation.

Charlotte retracted her gaze, feeling somewhat perplexed.

Could it be that she was imagining things again?

Charlotte didn't think so much over that as she walked straight to the rehearsal location.

Due to slacking off in the past few days, her condition wasn't optimal. Luckily, Ben, the rival actor, didn't seem to be in top form either. After a few hasty rehearsals that didn't quite meet the standard, the assistant director let them rest to readjust, allowing other actors to rehearse first.

The assistant director's attitude was already quite good; he didn't blame much. Yet, Charlotte was still upset, holding the script to the mirror, practicing repeatedly.

"Charlotte," a voice called from behind. She turned to see Ben approaching with a script in hand, a hint of fatigue in his expression. "Are you available? I'd like to run a scene with you."

Charlotte nodded.

After two brief scenes, Charlotte released a soft breath, her frown easing. "Thanks," she smiled softly at him.

Ben returned the smile, though his eyes held a deeper intensity. "Charlotte, do you know Kingsley well? I recall you mentioning earlier that you weren't familiar with him."

Charlotte furrowed her brow slightly. "Why do you ask that?"

She wasn't receptive to Ben's questioning tone. Even if she had considered him a friend before, they weren't close enough for her to divulge personal matters. Moreover, the look in Ben's eyes unsettled her.

"What's wrong?" Ben said softly. "You seem to be rejecting me now."

Charlotte pursed her lips. "You're overthinking it. I just don't appreciate being questioned."

"Fair enough, I won't pry," Ben said. "Can we revert to the easy relationship we had before? It would benefit us both for the play."

Charlotte sniffed, regarding him with a puzzled expression. His solemn words were inexplicable, making her unsure. However, considering the rehearsal, she nodded and offered a polite smile. "Okay."

Ben smiled again, a hint of his former charm returning. "Do you have time tonight? I'd like to invite you to dinner and talk about the play together."

Charlotte pondered for a moment. "I'm not sure yet; I'll let you know later, alright?"

"Of course," Ben smiled.

Charlotte nodded in acknowledgment before turning to leave.

Unseen by her, Ben's smile faded, replaced by a somber expression.
