The rehearsal this time went very well. Afterward, Charlotte headed to the bathroom but was intercepted at the door.

She glanced up to meet Zelda's eyes, which were filled with jealousy and resentment. Zelda's pretty and elegant face was twisted with sneers and smugness at that moment.

"Charlotte, do you think you can win Kingsley's support just because you have a pretty face?" Zelda taunted.

Charlotte pursed her lips, but before she could respond, Zelda continued, "Oh, I almost forgot. A shameless flirt like you is probably accustomed to seducing men, aren't you? When Kingsley isn't around, you move on to the next target, using your innocent face to entice others, like Ben. You must have noticed Ben's decent background, right? You're repulsive! Disgusting, really!"

Charlotte's expression darkened. She had grown up in a loving environment, surrounded by kind and gentle people.

Being maliciously targeted by a stranger for no apparent reason, and feeling such intense hostility from someone, was an unfamiliar sensation for her. However, it didn't mean she was afraid.

She lifted her chin slightly, her once warm and gentle eyes now tinged with coldness.

"Zelda," Charlotte spoke, her tone clear and composed, "Making baseless assumptions and hurling insults like this could be considered defamation under the law. If there's a next time, I'll see you in court."

With that, Charlotte turned and left without wasting another moment. Perhaps the sudden assertiveness she displayed was unsettling, as Zelda seemed momentarily stunned. By the time Zelda snapped out of it, Charlotte was almost out of the room.

"Stop right there!" Zelda hurriedly tried to reach out to Charlotte.

But to her surprise, Charlotte swiftly dodged her, even managing to trip her, sending Zelda crashing to the ground in a heap.

Charlotte stood nearby, her gaze icy as she observed Zelda. "I'm genuinely curious," Charlotte remarked, "Why do you harbor such animosity toward me?"

Charlotte couldn't recall any conflict with Zelda. At the question, Zelda's eyes reddened, teeth clenched, tears welling up, but she remained silent. How could she admit that her initial hostility toward Charlotte was merely misplaced resentment?

Originally, she was confident she would land the role of Julia, the lead female character in the play. However, Charlotte ended up snagging it. Zelda, the school's head cheerleader, accustomed to being the center of attention, lost out to Charlotte for the role. This resulted in an initial falling out between them.

What ultimately fueled Zelda's complete resentment toward Charlotte were the private remarks from the staff after Charlotte's first rehearsal with Kingsley.

Everyone seemed to think Kingsley and Charlotte were a perfect match, as if destined to be together.

They even commented that it was fortunate Charlotte had been chosen for the role of Julia because, being older and more mature, Zelda seemed more like a sibling to Kingsley when they stood together.

Zelda was so furious she wanted to wreck her dressing room, but she restrained herself. She needed to maintain her composure and dignity, preserving her own pride.

Instead, she covertly dispatched her assistant to sabotage the railing, intending to teach Charlotte a lesson.

Zelda's ruthlessness knew no bounds. She schemed to let Charlotte get hurt and eventually replaced.

However, to her surprise, Kingsley, usually detached and oblivious to everything, would help Charlotte.

Zelda vividly recalled Kingsley's disgusted expression when she initially pursued him, contrasting sharply with his protective demeanor toward Charlotte, which included threats and intimidation towards her for two whole days after the accident that day.

This turn of events left Zelda deeply discontented. Yet, Kingsley's absence for two days and the unchanged attitudes of others towards her goodwill gesture brought some relief.

However, upon discovering Ben and Charlotte meeting in the grove, all the suppressed resentment, jealousy, and fear surged back, overwhelming Zelda's sanity.

She confronted Charlotte with harsh words, expecting annoyance, but received only coldness and a questioning gaze, innocently wondering why Zelda was being malicious.

This question struck Zelda as absurdly funny.

In the end, Zelda found herself facing a question too absurd to answer.

Zelda chuckled softly, then spoke sharply in a slightly shrill tone, "Charlotte, we'll see!"

Observing Zelda, who appeared to be on the verge of losing her composure, Charlotte's brow furrowed tightly. She pursed her lips in disgust and briskly walked away, avoiding her.

Back at the rehearsal venue, Sherry scanned the area anxiously, finally breathing a sigh of relief upon spotting Charlotte. "Charlotte! You're finally back!" Sherry exclaimed. "Someone just informed me that you and Zelda had a falling out. Is it true?"

Charlotte raised her eyebrows in surprise. Someone knew it so soon?

Sherry was furious and ready to take action. "Did she bully you again? That is enough! I'll give her a piece of my mind!"

"It's okay, there's no need," Charlotte hurriedly interjected, feeling somewhat helpless. "I'm fine, and I'd rather not engage with someone who clearly has mental issues."

Hearing Charlotte's words, Sherry grunted unwillingly. "Yeah, she's seriously messed up."

Charlotte didn't want to dwell on Zelda; after all, Zelda was inconsequential to her. What she wanted to know was something else. "Sherry, you mentioned someone informed you. Who was it?"

"It was a staff member who just..." Sherry began, glancing around, puzzled. "Strange, he was just here."

Charlotte's gaze narrowed. Why would a staff member approach Sherry first after her altercation with Zelda, instead of going to the crew or someone on Zelda's side? Did it hint at a fear of her being bullied again? Was it a coincidence, or something more?

"Well, let's not dwell on this. Get ready; there's one last rehearsal today before it's over," Sherry reminded.

Charlotte nodded, pushing aside her thoughts.
