Revenge with My Quadruplets

Chapter 126

Chapter 126

Kingsley, dressed in his mid-world aristocratic attire, looked every bit the part of a real prince, exuding an assertive and regal presence.

However, the icy expression on his face made it difficult for Charlotte to connect him with the divine yet gentle Romeo he portrayed on stage.

In the rehearsal hall, the lighting simulated the effect of moonlight, with soft white light bathing the stage and creating a dreamy atmosphere. The set design was minimal but evocative of a beautiful garden, with Charlotte standing on a high balcony in a white dress that seemed to blend into the surrounding moonlight.

Kingsley's Romeo stood below, gazing up at Charlotte with love in his eyes.

Romeo spoke to Juliet with tenderness and longing in his voice, "Ah, Juliet, your beauty transcends my words. Your eyes resemble stars that illuminate my heart. Let me offer you all I have and spend this wonderful night with you."

Juliet smiled charmingly, her eyes full of innocence and joy. "Romeo, why have you come here? Your voice moves me, compelling me to respond to your call. Your name stirs infinite reverie in my mind."

Romeo stepped forward, as if to draw closer to the balcony. His words were filled with passion. "I have come for you; you are the moon that guides me through the darkness. I would cross every obstacle for you. With you by my side, I can overcome anything."

In the play, Romeo's attraction to Juliet is evident, but when Charlotte stood on the balcony and met Kingsley on the stage below, it was as though she were a moth drawn to the flame of his gaze.

Charlotte instinctively moved toward him and stepped to the edge of the balcony, reaching out to hold onto the railing.

But suddenly, the railing on the balcony gave way violently.

"Ah! Charlotte, watch out!" Sherry exclaimed in shock, and the audience around her was similarly alarmed.

Although the balcony was not very high, Charlotte, caught off guard, fell without any mental preparation.

In an instant, a staff member rushed forward to try to catch Charlotte, but another person moved even faster, racing like the wind and catching Charlotte as she fell from the balcony, cradling her safely in his arms.

Charlotte expected to feel pain, but instead, she found herself in a warm embrace. Opening her eyes in surprise, she saw Kingsley's cold, deep eyes, faintly tinged with the redness.

At this moment, Charlotte was on top of him.

"Kingsley?" she asked, stunned.

Was it Kingsley who saved her again? Wasn't he known for disliking physical contact? How could this be?

Kingsley's arms were wrapped tightly around Charlotte's waist. He showed no sign of releasing her, staring at her intently, his thin lips pressed together. A menacing aura emanated from him, creating an unsettling atmosphere.

The people around them were equally shocked, not daring to make a sound.

Meanwhile, Carl quickly regained his composure and approached the stage, nervously observing Kingsley. He tried to calm him down, saying, "Kingsley, Ms. Charlotte is fine now. Can you please let her go?"

Charlotte noticed that Kingsley's eyes seemed slightly unfocused. She called his name softly, "Kingsley?"

Kingsley blinked and his focus returned, meeting her gaze. Carl observed this and hurried to intervene.

Kingsley gave Carl a calmer look but remained silent and did not release Charlotte. Instead, he picked her up and stepped down from the stage, setting her down gently.

Though his expression remained cold, his movements were light and careful. Charlotte's heart had been racing since the moment he embraced her, and now she blushed, her eyes filled with shyness.

"Thank you..." she whispered.

This was the second time he had saved her. Kingsley remained silent, taking a few steps back as if to maintain a safe distance from her.

Charlotte was puzzled and looked up, seeing Kingsley glance at the hand that had held her, a familiar expression of dislike crossing his eyes.

After a moment, he lifted his chin slightly, his imposing frame adding to his intimidating presence. His icy gaze swept across the crowd as he demanded, "Who did this?"

Everyone immediately understood that someone had deliberately tampered with the balcony railing. Zelda, standing in a corner, paled visibly.

"I saw Zelda up on the balcony before the rehearsal..." someone said, their voice trembling.

All eyes turned to Zelda.

Kingsley's dark gaze was chilling, looking at her as though she were already dead.

Zelda stood high up on the stairwell, aware of being the center of attention, but at the moment she felt as small as an ant. Kingsley's intense gaze frightened her, and she broke out in a cold sweat.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." Zelda bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes. "It was an accident..."

"Was it?" Kingsley sneered, his words sending a shiver down her spine. "Hopefully, you'll enjoy the accident as well."

With that, Kingsley turned around and left.

Those who remained were frozen, at a loss for words. Zelda felt the chill in his words and sank to the ground in fear, her face pale.

On the other side, Charlotte sensed that Kingsley's mood seemed off. His departure felt more like fleeing.

What had made Kingsley, who was once so brave, turn into such a cold and gloomy person? He seemed to be struggling to control the ferocious beast within him.

Charlotte chased after him, her eyes filled with worry. Instead of returning to the lounge, Kingsley left the rehearsal and got into his car.

"Wait!" Charlotte caught up and stopped, her sharp gasp flushing her small face scarlet.

She glanced nervously at the back seat, the tinted glass obscuring her view. She didn't know that Kingsley, who had been so angry just moments ago, was now curled up in the back seat, holding his wrists to his chest, his face contorted with pain.

Carl, who sat in the passenger seat, looked anxiously at Kingsley and asked, "Charlotte is outside the car. Should we go straight back, or...?"

Kingsley's body stiffened. He raised his head to look outside the car, his eyes brightening for a moment as he fought back the pain. But soon, the brief light was swallowed up by a deeper, darker hue.

He muttered, "Just go."

Carl nodded silently. The driver started the car and drove away.

Charlotte followed the car for a few steps, feeling a surge of helplessness. She could only watch as the car disappeared from sight.

"Kingsley..." she murmured, standing on the busy street, frustrated.
